National Night Out-LOW by Larry Morlan, Neighborhood Watch Coordinator
The Third Annual LOW National Night Out will be held on Tuesday, August 6 from 6 until 8:30 PM at the Community Center Pavilion. This is the designated evening when communities across America come together to promote law enforcement/community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to help create safer neighborhoods. This year’s event is sponsored by Neighborhood Watch and the Safety and Security Committee. Participants in the event will be the Virginia State Police, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, LOW Fire and Rescue, and the LOW Security team. All groups will have officers available for discussion, as well as having handouts and equipment on display. One K-9 unit will put on a demonstration starting at 6:30 PM. As in previous years, residents are requested not to bring their dogs to this event. Free hot dogs will be served by LOW Security officers manning the grill. Water will also be available. Everyone is invited to attend the festivities to meet the law enforcement officers, to view the equipment that will be on display and to observe K-9 units that may be giving demonstrations.
