Our pool season wrapped up on Sept. 12 with the Seventh Annual Soggy Doggie swim. Twenty dogs participated. Many swam, but the chocolate lab, Sadie, who brought her own duck, was the best swimmer of all. She was relentless in chasing that duck again and again, she only slowed down after giving the duck a good workout. Donations collected for the Orange County Animal shelter included $300, 80 pounds of dog food, nine pounds of cat food, nine chew toys, 20 cans of dog food, 12 towels, 10 blankets, 10 bags of treats and enough laundry detergent for 200 loads. Thank you all for your generosity. The Beer and Pretzel Fundraiser, sponsored by FLOW and the Pools Committee, enjoyed a beautiful, cool evening on Friday, Sept. 3, after being delayed from Aug. 28, due to stormy weather. Music and line dancing accompanied the cold beer and warm pretzels. Attendees were once again generous and with sales of 130 tickets, 50/50 raffle, and silent auction proceeds, the FLOW event raised $2,932 to complete the shade structure funding. Next summer we can all enjoy the needed shade. All other pool events were fun and were well attended. Pirates and Mermaids was a huge hit, and will hopefully be revisited next year, along with adult parties, water aerobics, and sports nights. Please fill out the pool survey - LOWA Online Patron Comment Form - Pools: https://www.lowa.org/Amenities/Swimming_Pools. Your comments, ideas, and suggestions are greatly appreciated and would help the Pools Committee plan for the 2022 pool season.
