2018 Annual LOWA Honor Awards

Each year the LOWA Honor Awards committee accepts nominations of members for the Honor Awards Program. The Honor Awards recognize and reward individuals and groups for their outstanding contributions toward advancing and promoting the community welfare of property owners at Lake of the Woods. LOW Realtor’s Fall Open House Sunday, October 7

by Brenda Rogers, Open House Coordinator Selling your house? The LOW Realtor’s Open House will be Sunday, October 7, Looking for a realtor? from noon to 4 PM. You may list your home Be sure to check out our with a Realtor or sell by owner. The Open House generally attracts a large number of advertisers here in Lake Currents or visit perspective buyers. The Open House begins at the LOWA.org/RealEstate. Clubhouse where visitors pick up a map that includes the address and selling price of all houses on tour. Listings are placed on the wall so visitors may see details about the houses. The map helps them plan the tour of houses they want to see. Often perspective buyers are visiting Lake of the Woods for the first time. Clubhouse committee members will be available to answer questions. The recipient of the Warren Lodge Award has provided outstanding support to his neighbors as an Emergency Medical Technician and life member of the LOW Rescue Squad for over 15 years. He has served as president of the Rescue Squad and in a variety of squad leadership positions. As a medic and team leader, he responded to a 911 call on Sept. 11, 2001, when the Pentagon was attacked. He and his crew provided casualty assistance and helped the FBI in their response. He is also known for his musical talents. At The LOW Church, he is a drummer in the praise band and he o k also plays for the LOW’N’ Brows German band. In addition, he oco B s e l r a Ch plays with the Orange County Community Band.

Distinguished Service Award This next recipient is currently serving as the LOW Lions Club president. He has served and is serving as Team Leader of the furniture pick-up team, picking up furniture donations from LOW and Orange County. He also participates in the Lions weekly food pick-ups from the Fredericksburg Food Pantry to stock the Wilderness Food Pantry. Among other activities, he has participated in building wheelchair ramps for people in need, in partnership with The Lake of the Woods Church. He is on the LOW Planning Committee and the Security Committee. As the head of the LOWLINC maintenance committee, he has helped rt our neighbors to make sure their homes are safe and in good opo p p a repair. As a member of the Woodworkers Club, he has helped R ick R build new counters and shelves at the Food Pantry. He has consulted with a committee at The LOW Church with revising their safety plan.
