Diane has been an integral part of the Lake of Egypt and SIPC. She has probably looked at the plans for most of our docks here on the lake and along with the board of directors of SIPC she has helped implement many of the rules that help keep our lake safe. Diane is retiring after 21 years on the job and her behindthe-scenes direction will be missed! Have fun in Florida!

We want to welcome Les Winkeler and Dixie Terry to our writing staff. Les, the long time sports editor and outdoor writer for the Southern Illinoisan has won numerous awards and was inducted to the Illinois outdoor hall of fame. Dixie, is a long time writer for many area newspapers including the Southern Illinoisan and has covered the Lake of Egypt and Johnson County for decades. We are thrilled to have such seasoned writing professionals along with our Editor, Terry Geese, to continue to make Lake of Egypt Living magazine the best quality print product in Southern Illinois.

Here at the Egyptian Hills Subdivision we had a tragedy happen this last week, a great friend and neighbor passed away. Steve Krakosky was one of those guys that was a friend, he was a friend to the old and the young, the rich and the poor. I have never seen a man that had more friends. He shared all that he had with anyone that was around, and always did it with a smile. His sweet wife, Beth, is just as kind and loving. Krakosky family, please know you are not mourning alone. I know each subdivision has a “Steve” here on the lake, take a moment this month to let them know how much you appreciate them, because you may not get that chance again. As I have reflected on how fleeting life is, I have had time to ponder how thankful I am to live on the Lake of Egypt. My favorite part of publishing Lake of Egypt Living is going into the beautiful homes that we feature in each issue and meeting our amazing neighbors. We have very accomplished and diverse folks that live here on our lake, people that could live anywhere in the country, but they choose to live here on our lake! n
