What is the Viking Fund?
TheVikingFundistheannualgivinginitiativeof Lakeland Christian School. Throughout each school year, LCS families and friends provide financial gifts to support important school opportunitiesnotfundedbytuitionorfees.These contributions help LCS continue to provide a vibrant experience for children and young people.
What is the purpose of an annual fund?
At LCS, students are challenged to grow academically, creatively, and athletically in a Christ-centered environment. With diverse opportunitiesintheclassroom,onthestage,and onthefield,theydevelopskills,confidence,anda strong foundation of faith. Many of these exceptional experiences go beyond what tuition alone can provide. As LCS continues to expand andenhancetheseopportunities,werelyonthe generosity of our community to help equip studentswiththebestresourcestothrive.
What projects has the Viking Fund financed in recent years?
The Viking Fund has played a crucial role in enhancingthecampusandstudentexperienceby fundingavarietyofessentialprojects.
These investments have included purchasing activitybusestosupportstudenttransportation for field trips and extracurricular events, renovating and upgrading playgrounds for younger students, and constructing a covered pavilionforoutdooractivities,athleticpractices, andspecialevents.
TheVikingFundhasalsoenabledtheadditionof much-needed covered walkways, providing sheltered paths across campus, as well as the construction of bathrooms at the baseball stadium and practice field for greater convenience. To enhance student community, it funded the covering between the gym and cafeteria,creatingexpandeddiningareas.
Additionally, the fund has supported the installation of more secure doors and fences, enhancingsafetyandsecurityacrosscampus.
How will my gift be used?
Students are the direct beneficiaries of gifts to The Viking Fund. Your generous contributions will be used to help fund one of the following significantLCSinitiativesforthe2025-26school year:
A SECOND SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER
AnadditionalSchoolResourceOfficer(SRO),will ensureasafer,moresecurecampusenvironment for everyone. This enhanced security measure will help foster peace of mind for parents, teachers, and students alike. While tuition will covertheannualsalaryandbenefitsofasecond SRO,giftstothisyear’sVikingFundwillcoverthe start-upcosts(policecruiser,equipment,etc.)
Adding another SRO will ensure one to two officers are on campus daily from 7:15 AM to 6:00PM.Thisisvitalforfasterresponsetimeson ourlargecampusandprovidesessentialsecurity for our Afterschool Program, athletes, student leaders, and extracurricular groups extending intotheevening.
