Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management

(HBEM); Specialization: Conservation Planning & Management, Sustainable Land Use, Wildlife Conservation & Management You will obtain a sound understanding of natural processes in environmental ecosystems, including a strong background in forest environments; communication skills in writing and speaking; and practical technical experience, including industrystandard geomatics tools, such as GIS and remote sensing. Your studies will allow you to understand and maintain the integrity of the fundamental natural processes that drive our world’s ecosystems. Delve deeper into the areas of Fish and Wildlife Conservation and Management, Conservation Planning and Management, or maximize your elective opportunities through a Sustainable Land Use option. Upon completion of the Wildlife Conservation and Management specialization, you will be eligible for accreditation as a Certified Wildlife Biologist by The Wildlife Society. Our program provides you with a solid foundation aimed at making you not just well versed in current societal issues – based on science – but also employable due to our focus on technical skills development, communications and a comprehensive understanding of Crown Land management. Unique Learning Opportunities: Field School is an essential component of our programs whereby you’ll be introduced to concepts and methodologies while collecting data for use in the classroom or lab. It is also a great way to connect with your professors and other students before the start of classes. Honours Bachelor of Science in Forestry (HBScF);

Specialization: Forest Health & Protection, Forest Management, Forest Products & Marketing Through a specialization, you will delve deeper into the areas of Forest Management, Forest Health & Protection, or the emerging frontier of Forest Products & Marketing. You will be exposed to the high-tech world of modern forest management through advanced precision forestry optimization, GPS/GIS systems, 3-D visualization, remote sensing with satellite imagery and airborne systems including drone (UAV) technology, urban forestry, pathology, entomology, forest industry, wood science and forest products, forest genetics and more. To round out your comprehensive learning, you will also learn communication skills in writing and speaking, and take part in practical and technical hands-on experiences. Our Forestry program is nationally accredited by the Canadian Forestry Accreditation Board (CFAB), which will provide you with the academic credentials to become a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) anywhere in Canada and a Certified Forester in the USA.
