HEALTH & BEHAVIOURAL SCIENCES INDIGENOUS NURSING ENTRY PROGRAM

The Indigenous Nursing Entry Program (INEP) is an eight-month full-time transition program designed for Indigenous students who wish to enter the field of Nursing but do not meet the admission requirements. Successful completion of the INEP ensures a seat in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program. Unique Learning Opportunities: Studies occur in a culturally-sensitive and friendly environment and include courses in Biology, Chemistry, Math, English, and Academic Skills, as well as specific preparatory courses in Communication and Professional Conduct in Nursing.

option; Concurrent Education: Primary/Junior, Intermediate/Senior, Accelerated Education option The study of human movement and the factors that influence and support our body’s ability to move are examined within the field of Kinesiology. As a Kinesiology student, you will examine a broad range of multidisciplinary fields of study, including physiology, anatomy, biomechanics, aging populations, psychology, psychomotor behaviour, socio-cultural influences, musculoskeletal injuries, ergonomics, adapted physical activity, lifestyle management, and nutrition. You will be challenged to examine health and physical activity across the human lifespan. The “Practice of Kinesiology” is a vital part of the School of Kinesiology curriculum and involves a series of practical courses designed to develop knowledge and skills through hands-on experience. Graduates of the Kinesiology program are eligible to challenge the exam to become a regulated health professional. Unique Learning Opportunities: Multiple small lab sections allow for considerable one-on-one time with professors and fellow students. We are one of the only Kinesiology programs in Canada with a formalized co-op program where you can complete a minimum of four 4-month paid work terms. Thinking of Med School? Unique Learning Opportunities: Students complete a clinical placement in their first year and gradually expand their clinical experience and scope of practice through a variety of health care settings throughout their time in the program. Lakehead’s nursing programs value excellence in clinical practice and provide students with experiential learning opportunities that include medical-surgical, mental health, obstetrics, paediatrics, adult/older adults, acute care, chronic and complex care, long-term care, and/or community health settings. In their final year of the program, students complete three 6-week placements with the potential for clinical practice across Ontario, within Canada, or internationally.
