Head of Junior School Prospectus
Head of Junior School (K-6) Lakes Grammar is a K-12 coeducational school located in Warnervale on the Central Coast. The school is committed to academic excellence, academic care and academic diversity. The school is undergoing a period of renewal and change, with a focus on the Learning Power Approach and a dedicated program focused on building resilience and wellbeing of students. This is a very exciting time to join a flourishing and growing school. The school is one of the 4 schools under the leadership of Newcastle Anglican. We have exciting opportunity for a new head of junior school to join us from Term 3, 2022. The head of junior school is a key member of the school’s executive team and reports directly to the principal. The head of junior school is responsible for the operational oversight of the junior school, including delivery of the curriculum, oversight of facilities, student tracking and the academic care of students in K-6. The head of junior school has a vital role in setting and maintaining a positive and harmonious culture in line with the school’s and Newcastle Anglican’s vision. This role would suit a leader who is keen to make a significant difference in the lives of our students who aspire to achieve their best.

Key deliverables Some of the key deliverables of this role include: •
Strategic Leadership – including representing and promoting the school, implementing change, working with the senior leadership and executive team, developing professional learning frameworks in the junior school and attending and contributing to the NASC communities of practice.
•
Administrative Leadership – including oversight of budgets (K-6), resources, day to day operation of the junior school, oversight of junior school events, maintaining appropriate records and file notes and knowledge of WHS and appropriate legislation as it applies to schools.
•
Pastoral Leadership – including the maintenance of a positive school climate and culture and smooth student transitions from Year 6 to the senior school and new students to Kindergarten. In includes development and review of effective and clear procedures in response to the pastoral needs of students and staff, oversight of the student leader process and a consistent approach to student management in the junior school.
•
Christian Leadership – including promotion of the Christian ethos of the school and Newcastle Anglican and oversight of a quality Christian Religious Education program in the junior school. The role has versight of chapels and services and works closely with the junior school chaplain.
Essential criteria: •
Tertiary qualifications in education, with postgraduate qualifications in education desirable
•
Demonstrated leadership experience in a school environment
•
Deep knowledge of NESA curriculum requirements in the K-6 environment and the implementation of NESA syllabus requirements
•
Commitment to the school’s Christian ethos and those of Newcastle Anglican
•
Demonstrated ability to drive and lead change in a school environment
•
Demonstrated ability to operate as a school leader in a collegial and team environment
•
Current drivers licence and ability to provide evidence of COVID vaccination
•
A current Working With Children check (with clearance to work with children) and National Police Check.
