Christmas Eve

Thursday 24th December 2020 Arrive in time to settle into your warm and welcoming room, before joining us in the cosy lounges by the roaring fires for a light cream tea buffet of fresh scones with jam and clotted cream.

The evening commences with a sparkling cocktail and canapĂŠs reception with our General Manager and team, while a visit from the local carol singers is set to get you in the Christmas mood.

Afterwards, pose for a photo in front of the Christmas tree, which is then yours to take home as a memento of your stay, before making your way into the AA Rosette restaurant for a splendid four course gala dinner.

After dinner, find a cosy chair in the bar lounge and enjoy the soothing tunes from our charming singer, Glen Anderson.

Christmas Day Friday 25th December 2020

Start your day with a bit of magic, as we say good morning with a traditional Cumbrian breakfast and a glass of Bucks Fizz, and who knows, perhaps Santa will still be about!

Enjoy the morning at your leisure, whether you choose to relax in the comfort of the hotel or join in the Christmas treasure hunt, in our beautiful surroundings – there’s even a chance to win a prize!

After the Lakeland air has stimulated your appetite, it will be time to enjoy a sumptuous five course Christmas Day lunch in the AA Rosette restaurant. Make sure you leave room for coffee and Christmas cake which will be served during the Queen’s speech at 3pm.

In the evening, enjoy a selection of local delicacies as we present our Cumbrian ‘Lakes and Fells’ buffet, prepared by our talented Head Chef and his team. After a day of festive fun, unwind with our Christmas quiz and guess the weight of the Christmas cake competition for a chance to win a prize.

Saturday 26th December 2020 After a truly traditional Cumbrian breakfast, join us on a guided walk to a picturesque location.

We’ve got a tempting banquet of homemade pizza and refreshments awaiting your arrival.

On your return to the hotel, a light hot and cold lunch buffet awaits accompanied by our indulgent hot chocolate station where you can expect the full works - milk and white chocolate, Nutella, whipped cream, mini marshmallows and more. Followed by a sparkling wine and mince pie tasting!

In the evening, we’re joined by Robin the Cartoonist who will provide you with a unique memento of your stay with us. Afterwards, get ready for the magnificent four course Boxing Day dinner followed by port and cheese nibbles in the bar.

After settling into your warm and welcoming room, a delectable cream tea buffet awaits you in our cosy lounges; complete with jam, fresh clotted cream and lashings of tea.

In the evening, you are invited to a sparkling cocktail and canapÊs reception hosted by our General Manager and his team in the lounge bar, as he takes the opportunity to tell you of the coming days’ events and entertainment.

Later on, enjoy a wonderful four course welcome dinner, prepared by our Head Chef, in the award-winning rosette restaurant. After dinner, relax with a selection of board games in the lounge areas, where you can help yourself to cheese and port.

Thursday 31st December 2020 Prepare for the forthcoming celebrations with a hearty Cumbrian breakfast and a glass of Bucks Fizz. If you’re feeling energetic afterwards, join in our fun treasure hunt taking place in the beautiful surroundings of the hotel – the winner gets a special prize!

Once the crisp Lakeland air has stimulated the senses, return to the comfort of the hotel, where you can indulge on our hot and cold buffet lunch. Or alternatively, get ‘gin-spired’ at our informal gin tasting in the bar. Robin the Cartoonist will also be around to provide you with a unique memento of your stay.

In the evening, prepare yourself for a unique dining experience, as our Head Chef and his team have prepared a splendid five course gala dinner. Be sure to pose for a photo next to the Christmas tree before you take your seat.

After dinner, dance the night away, as our resident DJ entertains until 1am. On the stroke of midnight, we wish you all a Happy New Year with a glass of bubbly and a snack before a final fling on the dancefloor! Look out for the piper during the evening.

Friday 1st January 2021 There is no need to get up early, as this morning we transport you to the French Quarter of New Orleans from 10am – 2pm, when we host our iconic jazz brunch. With a Bloody Mary or Bucks Fizz in hand, make your way to the fabulous hot and cold buffet, whilst tapping your toes to the sounds of the live Jazz Band.

If you’re in the mood for fresh air, join our not-too strenuous guided walk to a picturesque location and enjoy a glass of sloe gin at the half way point (weather permitting). Or take a trip to the Lakes Distillery for a guided tour and tasting, where you will learn the history and the processes involved in whisky making.

Tea and crumpets with Cumberland rum butter will be served on your return, followed by a relaxed sparkling wine blind-tasting session.

In the evening, a four course farewell dinner is served in our award-winning restaurant, before relaxing in the lounge bar in time for our New Year’s Day quiz where your knowledge of the past year will be tested to the full, with prizes to be won!

2nd January
