TPS PROTECCIÓN TEMPORAL APROBADO PARA LOS

CIUDADANOS VENEZOLANOS EN LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS

El presidente Joe Biden asignó por decreto protección temporal a los ciudadanos venezolanos denominado TPS por un plazo de 18 meses. Esto permitirá a más de 300.000 ciudadanos venezolanos logren salir del limbo migratorio y poder residir y trabajar legalmente.

En 2020 se enviaron desde Estados Unidos a Venezuela remesas por más de $869 millones de dólares, se calcula que un 70% de los venezolanos envía un 20% de sus ingresos mensuales a Venezuela y con el incremento en la actividad laboral que puede producir el TPS se prevé un incremento. Según Naciones Unidas, más de cinco millones de venezolanos ha emigrado en una crisis humanitaria sin precedentes, EE.UU especialmente el sur de Florida, es uno de los lugares con mayor número de inmigrantes provenientes de Venezuela.

El TPS, se puede otorgar cuando una comunidad se considera insegura de regresar a su país de origen. Por lo tanto, este tipo de protecciones se limita solo a las personas que ya se encuentran en Estados Unidos.

¿QUIÉN ES ELEGIBLE PARA BENEFICIARSE DEL TPS Y CUÁNTO TIEMPO DURA? La designación del TPS permite que tanto los nacionales venezolanos como las personas sin nacionalidad cuya última residencia fue Venezuela, presenten solicitudes para el TPS. Son elegibles quienes demuestren una residencia continua en Estados Unidos al 8 de marzo de 2021.

CUALQUIER PERSONA QUE LLEGUE DESPUÉS DEL 8 DE MARZO NO CALIFICA PARA LA DESIGNACIÓN DEL TPS. ES POR 18 MESES, HASTA SEPTIEMBRE DE 2022, ES POSIBLE EXTENDERLO A DISCRECIÓN DEL GOBIERNO DE USA. LOS VENEZOLANOS QUE QUIERAN POSTULARSE AL TPS DEBEN PRESENTAR UNA SOLICITUD AL SERVICIO DE CIUDADANÍA E INMIGRACIÓN DE ESTADOS UNIDOS (USCIS) EN LOS PRÓXIMOS 180 DÍAS. TODAS LAS PERSONAS QUE SOLICITAN UN TPS DEBERÁN SOMETERSE A VERIFICACIÓN DE SEGURIDAD Y ANTECEDENTES PARA DETERMINAR SI SON ELEGIBLES.

Consul: El consulado en Raleigh es relativamente nuevo, abrimos a mediados del 2017, y prestamos nuestros servicios a toda la comunidad de Guatemala en Carolina del Norte y Carolina del Sur. Anteriormente las personas tenían que viajar hasta la ciudad de Atlanta en Georgia o Maryland, ahora estamos aquí en Raleigh dándonos a conocer.

También contamos con una oficina de orientación y protección, para que los ciudadanos de Guatemala sepan cuales son sus derechos ante el Gobierno de Guatemala y en los Estados Unidos, por ejemplo: derechos laborales, información relacionada con aspectos de salud, principalmente en estos tiempos de pandemia COVID-19, para que los puedan atender, también contamos con un abogado que da consultas gratuitas no solo relacionado con temas de inmigración, puede ser un tema criminal, familiar u otro, el esta aquí todos los viernes y estamos haciendo Facebook live para tener a nuestra comunidad informada.

Tenemos nuestros consulados móviles, donde visitamos a los guatemaltecos en diferentes lugares, pero han sido cancelados debido a la pandemia, aspiramos a reiniciarlos nuevamente lo más pronto en este 2021 y mi meta es llegar a ciudades donde no hemos llegado antes.

Los ciudadanos de Guatemala cuentan con 21 consulados en los Estados Unidos.

En Raleigh cubrimos Carolina del Sur y del Norte, sin embargo, para algunas es más cerca el consulado de Atlanta, por lo cual pueden seleccionar a qué consulado asistir.

INMIGRACIÓN | IMMIGRATION ¿QUÉ ACTIVIDADES SE PROYECTAN PARA ESTE AÑO?

Queremos ampliar nuestros servicios, por ejemplo ya tenemos consulados que imprimen los pasaportes el mismo día, nosotros esperamos que pronto podamos cumplir con esta meta, asi como reiniciar nuestros consulados móviles y asegurarles a los guatemaltecos que no están solos.

La pandemia nos ha cambiado la manera de trabajar, por lo cual habilitamos un sistema de citas.

Debido al número de personas que podemos tener al interior del consulado, les solicitamos tramitar su cita previamente (no tardan mas de 15 minutos), al final encontrarán dos link, uno para tramitar su cita en este consulado y otro para el resto de consulados en Estados Unidos.

Consul: The consulate in Raleigh is relatively new, we opened in mid-2017, and we provide our services to the entire Guatemalan community in North Carolina and South Carolina. Previously, people had to travel to the city of Atlanta in Georgia or Maryland, now we are here in Raleigh making ourselves known.

Borja de origen español, es un hispano destacado en nuestra comunidad por su espíritu de servicio, carisma y profesionalismo; sin duda su historia de vida es muy interesante, ha sido presentador de uno de los medios más importantes de Estados Unidos (Univisión) dejando huella con su trabajo.

Primer Impacto, Noticias digital y Mira Quién Baila 2021 ¿De dónde nace el amor por la música y la actuación?

“Mi mamá era artista, siempre en mi casa se ha vivido el arte de una manera muy natural. Recuerdo a mi madre cantar desde que tengo uso de razón, además es fanática de la música Latina.

Desde pequeño tuve la conexión con el canto, cuando llegó mi primera comunión, pedí un karaoke y después fui armando un estudio de grabación. En 1995, con 9 años, me presenté a una audición para un concurso de Teresa Rabal, una cazatalentos española, canté y gané el segundo premio y ahí empezó toda mi carrera en la televisión, el cine, en la música y en la conducción también. Hasta que ya decidí que quería un poco de estabilidad, centrarme y me quedé en la conducción”.

¿Por qué estudiar Mercadotecnia en España?

Mis padres sabían que la inestabilidad del medio artístico es enorme -un día estás aquí, al otro día no estás-, entonces lo que mis padres nunca quisieron, era que yo me estrellara, que de repente me viera a lo mejor con 30 años sin ningún tipo de profesión, sin ningún tipo de estabilidad y que no tuviera nada para desarrollar.

Entonces mis padres, me pusieron como único requisito para seguirme apoyando con mis sueños, que debía estudiar una carrera. Escogí Marketing porque me gusta mucho el tema de la venta y en el fondo ahora con el tiempo creo que escogí bien, creo que el marketing forma parte un poco del marketing personal, de como tú te vendes a los demás. Entonces obviamente eso me ayudó bastante, sobre todo a tener una disciplina, una rutina, lo cual hoy le agradezco muchísimo a mis padres.

ENTRETENIMIENTO | ENTERTAINMENT Aunque Borja ya tenía una Carrera en España, siempre muy conectado con América, decidió empacar maletas y comenzar una vida en Estados Unidos de la mano de Univisión, “me arriesgue a empezar de cero, en un mercado que no me conocía”. “me pongo delante de una cámara y siento que represento a las personas que hemos arriesgado todo por buscar un mundo mejor y por dar al fin y al cabo a nosotros mismos, la oportunidad de crecer profesional y personalmente”.

“Solo tengo agradecimiento con la comunidad hispana de Estados Unidos, he descubierto que es una comunidad muy generosa y empática, lo que me ha permitido en Primer Impacto, mostrar los valores de la comunidad hispana: la familia y la unidad.

Nunca he presentado una historia y se ha quedado vacía, esa persona que me ha contado y me ha abierto su corazón, ha recibido millones de bendiciones. Por ejemplo, Marlon aparte de dinero, de contactos para que se pudiera operar, hoy vive en los Ángeles California, se ha operado, le han estirado las rodillitas y las piernas y el niño ya camina, lo cual es una bendición.

Este trabajo no es mío, ese logro NO es de Primer Impacto, es de la Comunidad hispana”. ¿Qué mensaje le envías a la comunidad hispana en Estados Unidos?

“Nos tenemos que sentir muy orgullosos de ser hispanos, y que, pese a que nos den duro, con presidentes que piensen que no estamos capacitados para estar en este país, quiero decirles a todos que le echen ganas, que los sueños se cumplen y qué vamos a hacer de verdad que América sea muy buena de nuevo, cuando tengan acogida todos los inmigrantes que quieren echarle ganas de ir a trabajar. Así que levántese de donde estén y piensen que los sueños en este país si logran”.

Lo más valioso en una comunidad es “La Aceptación”.

Unas personas son altas, otras bajas; algunas son tímidas, otras extrovertidas; unos usamos lentes y otros tienen una vista perfecta, pero lo importante es que nos aceptemos como somos.

En el mes de abril celebramos la concientización y aceptación del Autismo, una condición de vida generada por un trastorno neurológico que no se ha comprobado causa especifica. En los Estados Unidos 1 de cada 54 personas ha sido diagnosticada con Autismo según la Red de Monitoreo de Discapacidades del Desarrollo y Autismo (ADDM).

A nivel mundial, la Organización Mundial de la Salud pública que la prevalencia media del autismo es de 1 de cada 160 personas. Es cuatro veces más frecuente en niños que en niñas y generalmente los síntomas comienzan en los primeros tres años de vida. Una de las cosas que nos puede ayudar a identificar alertas en los comportamientos de nuestros hijos es una buena comunicación con su pediatra.

Ellos evalúan su desarrollo y, apoyado con las inquietudes y alertas de las madres, pueden ayudarles a referir para una evaluación más profunda. Las alertas pueden aparecer también en los primeros años de la escuela, cuando están fuera de su sitio de confort en el hogar y comienzan las interacciones con otros niños.

During the month of April we celebrate the awareness and acceptance of Autism, a life condition generated by a neurological disorder that has no specific cause. In the United States 1 in 54 people has been diagnosed with Autism according to the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network (ADDM). Globally, the World Health Organization states that the average prevalence of autism is 1 in 160 people. It is four times more common in boys than girls, and symptoms generally begin in the first three years of life. One of the things that can help us identify alerts in our children's behaviors is good communication with their pediatrician.

They assess their development and, supported by the concerns and alerts of the mothers, can help them refer for further evaluation. Red flags can also appear in the early years of school, when they are out of their comfort zone of their home and they begin interactions with other children.

Children with this condition can see the world differently. They learn in different ways and this is how we support. We encourage them to participate and grow in a society knowing that they are part of it and that they are not accepted just for doing things differently.

Ronald Vargas

Estuvo con nosotros Ronald Vargas de Costa Rica y nos contó su experiencia trabajando para la empresa The Greenery, Inc Landscape. Recuerda como hace 22 años llegó un domingo al Lowcountry y desde el siguiente día empezó a trabajar para la empresa, donde encontró un trabajo estable.

Alli empezó sin experiencia y hoy es uno de

los administradores, además participa del plan de acciones que ofrece la compañía.

Ronald, es un gran deportista, aquellos que se les reconoce como: fuera de serie, dado que participa en Ultra Maratones corriendo hasta 100 millas en 24 horas. Hoy tiene 55 años y recomienda comer sano, hacer ejercicio y dormir bien, por ello su rutina inicia a las 5:00 a.m. desayuna muy bien a base de proteína y al finalizar el día regresa a su casa y entrena todos los días.

Le preguntamos cómo es trabajar en tiempos de Covid-19 y nos contó “como compañía nunca cerramos, implementamos nuestros protocolos de bioseguridad, toallas de limpieza y liquidos, realmente no hemos tenido ninguna situación grave en materia de COVID-19”.

Actualmente The Greenery cuenta con más de 650 empleados en temporada baja y está buscando personas que quieran tener un trabajo estable con oportunidad de crecer, aprender y hasta ser accionista como es el caso de Ronald Vargas.

Ronald Vargas from Costa Rica was with us and told us about his experience working for The Greenery, Inc Landscape company.

He remembers how 22 years ago he arrived in the Lowcountry on a Sunday and the next day he started working for the company, where he found a stable job. There he started without experience and today he is one of the administrators, he also participates in the stock plan offered by the company.

Ronald is a great athlete, those who are recognized as: out of the ordinary, since he participates in Ultra Marathons running up to 100 miles in 24 hours.

Today he is 55 years old and recommends eating healthy, exercising and sleeping well, so he starts his routine at 5:00 am, has a very good protein based breakfast and at the end of the day he returns home and trains every day.

We asked him what it is like to work in times of Covid-19 and he told us “as a company we never close, we implement our bio-security protocols, cleaning towels and liquids, we really have not had any serious situation in terms of COVID-19”.

Currently The Greenery has more than 650 employees in low season and is looking for people who want to have a stable job with the opportunity to grow, learn and even be a shareholder, such as Ronald Vargas

¿Está usando el asiento de seguridad adecuado para su hijo? ¡Cuatro de cada cinco asientos para el automóvil se usan o instalan incorrectamente!

Los asientos de seguridad para niños son obligatorios por ley en todos los estados porque brindan la mejor protección para bebés y niños pequeños. La instalación de

un asiento para el automóvil puede ser un poco difícil debido a que en la actualidad existen muchos asientos, cinturones de seguridad y vehículos diferentes.

Aquí hay algunas pautas: • El asiento para el automóvil debe ser el adecuado para la edad, la altura y el peso de su hijo.

• Debe encajar bien en su vehículo y no moverse más de 1 pulgada de lado a lado.

• El asiento trasero es el mejor lugar para un niño.

• ¡Los asientos de seguridad caducan! La mayoría de los fabricantes recomiendan reemplazar cualquier asiento para el automóvil que tenga más de 6 años; consulte las etiquetas de su asiento para el automóvil y las recomendaciones del fabricante.

facing car seat in the back seat of the vehicle. They must use the harness and the straps should be slightly above shoulder level. The harness straps should be snug and flat.

Booster Seat: Children age 4 who have outgrown their forward-facing car seat must be in a booster seat in the back seat of the vehicle until the child can meet the height and fit requirements (around age 8, around 100lbs and 4ft 9 inches or taller) for an adult safety seat belt. Lap and shoulder belts must be used.

Seatbelts: A child at least age 8 or at least 57 inches tall may be in an adult seat belt if the child can be secured properly by an adult seat belt.

There is so much to know with car seats - it is best to have your car checked and installed by a nationally certified car seat tech. Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue does car seat checks twice a month by appointment and it is free. Call 843-6825145 for your appointment!

A lo largo de nuestra vida no nos han enseñado a pedir perdón o disculparnos. Es una tarea compleja, que implica responsabilidad afectiva con nosotros mismos y con el otro.

Quizá hemos escuchado expresiones como “lo hice porque te amo”, o “sigue tu camino que ya pasó”, o “me da mucho pesar que te sientas así”; pues bien, estas expresiones no reflejan lo que es el perdón y en muchas ocasiones terminan haciendo más daño. ¿Por qué nos cuesta tanto pedir perdón? Porque nos cuesta aceptar que cometemos errores, y en vez de verlos como una oportunidad para para mejorar, buscamos ocultarlos y empezamos a mentir; este último nos hace pensar que ya no necesitamos pedir perdón, que este ya no tiene sentido, pero tiene más sentido del que pensamos, es una tarea que debemos trabajar a diario.

Supongamos que pasamos por una situación donde, tanto usted como la otra persona salen afectadas, pero usted va a tener la tendencia de valorar como que hubo mayor daño de su lado que validar el daño que usted provocó en el otro. Entender y admitir el pedir perdón como un signo de madurez, honestidad y respeto por el otro y por nosotros mismos, requiere de valentía y constantes aprendizajes.

En el libro de Harriet Lerner “Why won´t you apologize”, la autora nos ofrece diferentes claves que hacen parte de una disculpa: • Nunca incluir en una disculpa la palabra “pero”

• La disculpa debe incluir acciones y no la espera de una respuesta por parte del otro • Las disculpas se ofrecen desde la sensatez y no desde la exageración • Durante el ofrecimiento de las disculpas o el perdón, no debemos quedar en quién tuvo la culpa o quién inició el conflicto. Las disculpas deben reflejar la responsabilidad y madurez de las partes • Cada disculpa debe ir acompañada de acciones (Recuerden que los actos dicen más que las palabras) • Las verdaderas disculpas deben ser un compromiso para no repetir lo que tanto daño hizo en su momento.

• El verdadero perdón no debe silenciar al otro (ya te dije que me disculparas más de diez veces y sigues en lo mismo. Esto solo refleja la invalidación del sentir del otro) • Si la persona(s) se va a sentir más herida cuando le ofrezcamos disculpas es mejor no ofrecerla • Las verdaderas disculpas son capaces de reconocer que con “perdón” no es suficiente.

Recordemos que nunca es demasiado tarde para ofrecerle al otro unas disculpas, solo debemos reconocer si tanto nosotros como el otro está preparado para esto y así disminuir más daño que reparaciones.

Throughout our lives we have not been taught to ask for forgiveness or apologize.

It is a complex task, which implies emotional responsibility with ourselves and with the other person.

Perhaps we have heard expressions such as “I did it because I love you”, or “keep following your path that you have choosen”, or “I am very sorry that you feel this way”; Well, these expressions do not reflect what is true forgiveness and in many cases they end up doing more damage.

Why is it so hard for us to ask for forgiveness?

Because it is hard for us to accept that we make mistakes, and instead of seeing them as an opportunity to improve, we try to hide them and start lying; The latter makes us think that we no longer need to ask for forgiveness, that it no longer makes sense, but it makes more sense than we think, it is a task that we must work on daily.

Suppose we go through a situation where both you and the other person are affected, but you are going to have the tendency to assess that there was more damage on your side than to validate the damage you caused on the other. Understanding and admitting asking for forgiveness as a sign of maturity, honesty and respect for the other and for ourselves. It requires courage and constant learning.

Inbook Harriet Lerner's“Why won't you apologize”, the author offers us different clues that are part of an apology: • Never include the word “but” in an apology

• The apology must include actions and not waiting for a response from the other person • Apologies are offered from a place of reasonableness and not from exaggeration • During the exchange of apologies or forgiveness, we must not stop at who was at fault or who started the conflict. Apologies must reflect the responsibility and maturity of the parties.

• Each apology must be accompanied by actions (Remember that actions speak louder than words) • True apologies must be a commitment not to repeat what was so damaging at the time.

• True forgiveness should not silence the other (I already told you to apologize more than ten times and you continue in the same way. This only reflects the invalidation of the other's feeling) • If the person (s) is going to feel more hurt when we offer them an apology is better not to offer it • True apologies are capable of recognizing that "sorry" is not enough.

Remember that it is never too late to offer an apology to the other, we only have to recognize if both we and the other are prepared for forgiveness and thus decrease the probability of doing more damage than repair.
