GCCNHS MAPEH Department Quarter 4 Learning Activity Sheets
INTRODUCTORY MESSAGE
This Learning Activity Sheet (LAS) is carefully crafted so that you, our dear learners, can continue your academic achievement in this new educational scheme. This will serve as a supplementary material to fill in the gaps of teaching and learning. Each LAS is composed of four (4) parts which will guide you as you discover and understand the lesson prepared for you. Part II Activity is divided into four (4) sub-parts namely; simple recall, understanding, analyzing and creating. These parts will measure your prior knowledge, the learnings that you will acquire through analyzing the activities presented and creating tasks and outputs base on the given activity. Every student is encouraged to use this module with care and to read the instructions carefully before performing each task. Don’t hesitate to consult and ask questions to your parents or to our teachers/facilitators if you have difficulty in answering the tasks in this Learning Activity Sheet.

LEARNING COMPETENCY At the end of the lesson, the learner a. Participate actively in active recreations; (PE9GS-IVb-h7)
I- KEY CONCEPT/BACKGROUND INFORMATION Category of Activities: 1. Existence – activity that attends to your biological needs like eating, sleeping and rest. 2. Subsistence – attending classes (online or limited face to face), homework and other classwork (performance task/project making). 3. Free time – time for enjoyment and relaxation. Lifestyle – the way you live your life in everyday basis. Participation in active recreation influences your healthy lifestyle. Benefits of healthy lifestyle 1. It improves health condition in many ways. 2. It also helps you to use the calories better and sustain a desirable weight. 1. 2. 3. 4.
How do you maintain a healthy lifestyle? Engage yourself in a regular physical activity. Eat healthy food. Find time to manage stress. Follow a good personal healthy habit.
The HELP Philosophy can guide you in starting a healthy lifestyle change. Health – those who believe in the benefits of healthy lifestyle are more likely to engage in healthier behavior. Everyone – healthy lifestyle can be practiced by everyone “health for all”. Lifetime – the longer healthy lifestyles are practice the greater the benefits. Personal – no two people are exactly the same. Your personal needs are the basis of your lifestyle change. Computation of Training Heart Rate Range: (the teacher will share the formula in getting the THR) My Target Heart Rate: 1. Get the Maximum Heart Rate: MHR= 220 - your age 2. Determine the Heart Rate Reserve: HRR = MHR – Resting Heart Rate 3. Take 60% and 80% of the HRR a. 60% x HRR = .60 x HRR = _______ bpm b. 80% x HRR = .80 x HRR = _______ bpm 4. Add each HRR to Resting Heart Rate (RHR) to obtain the Target Heart Rate (THR) range. a. 60% HRR _____ bpm + RHR = _______ bmp b. 80% HRR _____ bpm + RHR = _______ bmp Therefore, your target heart rate range is (a.) ______ bmp to (b.) ______ bmp. (When you do physical activity, your heart is within usual range, so you need to choose moderate intense exercises that can make your heart beat within the THR range.)
GCCNHS MAPEH Department Quarter 4 Learning Activity Sheets
Illustrated example: (Age: 16, RHR: 70) 1. MHR: 220-16=204 2. HRR: 204-70=134 3. a. 134x.60=80.4 b. 134x.80=107.2 4. a. 60% HRR 80.4 +70 =150.4 bpm b. 80% HRR 107.2 +70 = 177.2 bpm Therefore, if your 16 years old and with 70 bpm resting heart rate then your target heart range will be 150 bpm to 177 bpm.
