Academy 360 Pupil Leadership

Page 1

Inclusion Ambassadors in primary primary phase play a vital role in ensuring that every pupil feels seen, heard, respected, and valued within the school community. They help promote equality, diversity, and inclusion by encouraging understanding of differences and supporting the representation of all pupils, including those with protected characteristics such as disability, race, religion, gender, and additional needs.

The role of Inclusion Ambassadors is integral to pupil voice representation and school improvement planning at Academy 360. Through discussions, surveys, assemblies, and collaborative activities, ambassadors provide meaningful opportunities for children to share their experiences, opinions, and ideas about inclusion across the school. . Their contributions help leaders identify areas for development and ensure that pupil perspectives actively shape policies, practices, and the wider school environment..

To strengthen the impact of Inclusion Ambassadors, we ensure their role is consistently valued and embedded within school planning processes. This includes increasing opportunities for ambassadors to contribute to decision-making, developing clearer systems for gathering and acting upon pupil voice, and ensuring all pupils feel represented and protected.

By empowering ambassadors and recognising the importance of their contributions, we can continue to build an inclusive culture where diversity is celebrated and every child has a sense of belonging and equality of opportunity.

An effective Inclusion Ambassador helps create a school environment where every child feels SAFE. WELCOMED. REPRESENTED. VALUED.

Together we Belong

At our school, we look after each other and make sure everyone feels they BELONG.

Our Primary Inclusion Pledge

Together, we make our school a place where everyone can BELONG, LEARN AND THRIVE!

BE KIND. BE RESPECTFUL. BE INCLUSIVE. BE YOU.

Digital Leaders, alongside other primary student leadership positions, are integral to our school improvement journey and help strengthen our sense of belonging across the Primary Phase. These roles ensure that all children are supported to thrive, achieve and feel valued within our school community.

The Digital Leader role is particularly important in preparing children for modern life and future careers in an increasingly digital world. Pupils who hold this position act as ambassadors for technology, innovation and online safety across the school. They promote responsible digital citizenship while supporting both staff and pupils in making effective use of technology to enhance learning.

Digital Leaders encourage pupil voice and ensure that children’s ideas and experiences help shape the way technology is used throughout the school. Through leadership opportunities, collaboration and advocacy, they contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and forward-thinking digital learning environment.

ECO Leaders - Primary Phase

The Eco Leaders in the Primary Phase are led by Mrs McCluskey and play an active role both inside and outside of school in promoting sustainability, environmental awareness and responsibility across the school community.

Recently, the Eco Leaders worked closely with staff and pupils across the phase to raise the profile of what it means to be environmentally friendly and how everyone can contribute positively to caring for our planet. As part of this work, the Eco Leaders delivered an assembly to the Primary Phase, explaining why sustainability, recycling and protecting the environment are so important for both our school and the wider world.

To encourage collective responsibility, classes were given specific environmental roles and areas of focus to help improve and maintain the school environment. Projects have included increasing the number of recycling and waste bins across the phase to reduce litter, organising litter-picking initiatives and encouraging parents and visitors to help care for the school site.

The Eco Leaders have also promoted energy-saving strategies, such as ensuring doors and windows are used appropriately to support both ventilation and energy efficiency. In addition, they have supported projects involving planting, developing green spaces and improving habitats for insects and wildlife around the school grounds.

Through their commitment, teamwork and leadership, the Eco Leaders played an important role in supporting the school to secure the recent Green Flag Eco Award distinction, with many more exciting environmental project and achievements planned for the future.

Wellbeing Leaders - Primary Phase

The Wellbeing Leaders in the Primary Phase play an important role in promoting positive mental health, emotional wellbeing and inclusion across the school community. Through a whole-school approach, The Wellbeing Leaders help to create a safe, supportive and nurturing environment where all pupils feel valued, listened to and able to thrive.

Working closely with staff, pupils and families, the Wellbeing Leaders promote healthy habits, positive relationships and emotional resilience. They help to raise awareness of wellbeing through assemblies, classroom activities, friendship initiatives and pupil-led campaigns that encourage kindness, inclusion and respect.

The role also supports early intervention by helping to identify when pupils may need additional emotional support and encouraging children to access strategies and trusted adults who can help. Through peer support, mentoring and pupil voice opportunities, Wellbeing Leaders empower children to talk openly, build confidence and support one another positively.

Wellbeing Leaders promote inclusive play, friendship and mindfulness throughout the school day while helping pupils understand the importance of staying physically and emotionally healthy. They also contribute to safeguarding by supporting a culture where children feel safe, heard and respected.

As role models within the Primary Phase, Wellbeing Leaders encourage a positive school culture where every child can feel connected, supported and successful both inside and outside of the classroom.
