Why do journalists reach out?

But why?

Journalists usually reach out to obtain information that has not yet been shared publically – in hopes of producing unique content. The information they might be looking for it may not be on Lafarge Canada website, social media posts, recent press releases, etc. Most times, if Lafarge ECAN has not shared the information online, journalists might pick up the phone and call our sites or write us an email. If a journalist has contacted you, it is because they believe you can provide them with the information they seek.

UNDERSTANDING EXPECTATIONS

Our organization operates in various sites across Eastern Canada and it is a business priotity to engage with the communities surrounding us - as we build progress for people and the planet. Therefore, local media outlets might eventually get in contact with you regarding Lafarge ECAN operations. So, let us go through how and why a media request takes place. Shall we?

So, may I pass the information on?

Before sharing any piece of information or a statement with the press, first the Communications Team will assess the request and include the appropriate parties, such as ECAN Executive Committee, Legal, and Holcim Communications Team.

In case you pick up the phone at work and there is a journalist on the other end of the line, please follow the steps on Page 5.
