Scandal at Lepelle Northern Water President Zuma has ordered a high level investigation into contracts, after it grew from R502 million to R2,7 billion (!) in less than a year. Read our report on page 3. GTM Mayor Dikeledi Mmetle officially opened the multimillion rand Nkowankowa Indoor and Outdoor Sport Centre on Friday. The overall cost was R13 million (R9m for indoor facilities and R4m for outdoor facilities). The sports facility includes four soccer fields complete with artificial turfs, and three netball courts with artificial turfs. Mmetle called on residents to “jealously protect the facility from theft and vandalism”. A committee to oversee the facility will be formed; led by the ward councillor. The GTM in consultation with the Greater Tzaneen Sport and Recreation Council will develop a programme of activities for the centre. — Gittel Baloyi gittel@bulletin.us.com
