Tzaneen’s legal fraternity is beginning to look like a battlefield, with yet another prominent lawyer — Mr Jenke Nagel of the law firm Krüger Nagel De Jager — finding himself in dire straits. • Documents in our possession confirm that he stands accused of having used money that was meant for the firm’s trust account, to his own advantage. • The Law Society of the Northern Provinces conducted an extensive investigation into the matter and has subsequently filed for an urgent application in the High Court to have him struck from the roll as an attorney. • Furthermore Nagel stands to face criminal charges of fraud, alternatively theft and forgery. These charges have been laid with the SA Police Service’s commercial investigation unit by three different people and the charges are currently being investigated. ** We have conducted our own investigation over most of the past six months and due to the sensitive nature of the case in hand we have waited until we collected concrete facts and evidence before disclosure. Turn to page 3 for our concise report.
