Havoc On Sunday while most people were out celebrating Reconciliation Day, a severe thunder- and hailstorm hit Mariveni, between Nkowankowa and Letsitele, and also parts of the Tarentaalrand area. The ferocious storm started around 16:30, lasted for about thirty minutes and left a trail of devastation. Mr Themba Ngonyama lives next to the Mariveni Bar Lounge and survived the storm, but his property was severely damaged. Part of his house’s roof was ripped off and several windows were smashed by hail stones. Electronic devices like his TV and entertainment systems are now unusable. The roof of the row of rooms next to his house lies crumpled on the ground. The 33 year-old Mariveni Bar Lounge next door was also severely damaged, with most of the roof lying on the grass behind it. Part of the building’s upper wall tumbled inwards •Continued on page 3
