Water, water everywhere.
Not a drop to drink...
Tzaneen is in trouble. The town’s water supply is unsteady, as a result of a network that urgently needs maintenance work and an increase in capacity. The big offender is the Mopani Distrfict Municipality. Over the last decade, the MDM, as the water authority, failed to make money for capital investment available. Tzaneen urgently needs the water purification plant to be upgraded and an additional reservoir has also become essential. The existing reservoirs have for some time now not being filled to more than 25% of its capacity, indicating that the pumps might also be insufficient. In Lenyenye, residents are billed for water usage, but since they don’t have uninterrupted water supply 24 hours per day, their debts are written back every month. So they don’t pay for water. Maybe Tzaneen’s residents should follow the same route. See page 3 and read our Comment on page 6.
