BOLD FUTURES START HERE

Welcome to what is certain to be the most exciting stage of your education so far. Sixth Form at LEH is more than a timetable of subjects or a stepping stone to what comes next. It’s a tailored experience and a step-change in independence for every student. These two years are the most transformative of your school journey. You’ll experience greater freedoms and agency, deeper friendships, and a richer, more dynamic relationship with your teachers. You’ll be stretched, challenged, and championed – whether through your A Level subjects, the Extended Project Qualification, the many extra-curricular activities on offer, or the many opportunities to lead, support, inspire and lift those around you. At LEH, you won’t just be part of the Sixth Form – you’ll help shape it. Our Sixth Form students are empowered with real agency: they drive ideas, launch initiatives, and lead meaningful change throughout the school. Each year, one of my personal highlights is working alongside our Sixth Form – your voices, your energy, and your perspective help us to respond to a rapidly changing world with imagination and courage. Most importantly, we make space for fun and laughter every day. We believe happiness is essential – not just to thrive and succeed, but to live fulfilling lives at every stage.

3

Our dedicated teachers, experienced Futures advisors, and inspirational alumnae network will walk with you every step of the way, opening doors and helping you navigate the exciting, sometimes unexpected, turns in your journey. Whether your path is clear or, as is often the case, still taking shape, LEH is here to help you explore it and boldly grasp all the opportunities on offer. And through our strong partnership with Hampton School, you’ll benefit from a vibrant joint Beyond the Curriculum programme and shared activities that broaden your horizons and deepen your knowledge. You’ll have all the benefits of a single sex academic experience, with plenty of extra-curricular opportunity to experience coeducational collaboration. Your time in the Sixth Form will pass quickly, but it will leave a lasting mark. You’ll build memories that stay with you for life and develop the mindset, resilience, and curiosity that will shape your future – whatever you choose to do next. We hope LEH sounds like somewhere you can see yourself authentically thrive. Rowena Cole Head

YOUR NEXT CHAPTER Sixth Form at LEH is a place for ambitious young women ready to take ownership of their future. Whether you're already part of the LEH community or joining us from another school, this is where you'll discover new opportunities, deepen your interests, and challenge yourself in ways you may never have imagined. Here, you'll choose the subjects that excite and inspire you, while developing the independence, confidence and resilience that will prepare you for life beyond school. But Sixth Form at LEH is about much more than academic study. You'll become part of a vibrant community where curiosity is celebrated and individuality is valued. From launching a business through Young Enterprise and debating global issues at Model United Nations, to performing on stage, leading initiatives, mentoring others, and pursuing your passions beyond the classroom, you'll have countless opportunities to grow, contribute, and thrive. These experiences are designed to stretch and inspire you. They will broaden your horizons, build your confidence, and help you develop a strong sense of who you are and what

4

you stand for. Along the way, you'll form friendships, discover new strengths, and create memories that will stay with you long after you leave LEH. Our students leave Sixth Form as confident, curious, and compassionate young women, ready to embrace bold futures at university and beyond. They know how to think independently, challenge convention and make a positive impact on the world around them. Wherever your journey has begun, we can't wait to see where it takes you next.

NEW CHAPTERS, BOLD BEGINNINGS

September always signals a fresh start – new classes, new timetables, maybe even new stationery – but nothing quite compares to the thrill of starting Sixth Form at LEH. From day one, there’s a sense that something has shifted. The newly refurbished Sixth Form Centre becomes your space. You begin to shape your own academic routines. And, for the first time, you step fully into your role as a leader within the school community. With GCSEs behind us, the Sixth Form is all about diving deeper. Whether it’s exploring new subjects or expanding our understanding through enrichment and wider learning, this is a time of real intellectual discovery. The buzz on Lower Sixth Induction Day said it all – as we looked ahead to what lay in store, from the Leadership trip and student-led initiatives to the Christmas Panto and, finally, Graduation, we knew we were about to experience the best two years of our school lives. The academic step-up is real and exciting. Smaller class sizes mean more tailored teaching and more time to delve into the big ideas. Lessons become more collaborative, more discussion-led, and more focused on stretching our thinking beyond the curriculum. With teachers who treat us as partners in learning, and peers who encourage and support each other to aim high, every classroom becomes a space for challenge, curiosity and growth.

5

Subject Enrichment is a defining part of Sixth Form life. From lunchtime lecture sessions to Life Advice lessons that cover everything from personal finance to nutrition at university, we’re encouraged to look beyond the page and think beyond the obvious. Events like the Higher Education and Careers Fairs, along with visits from alumnae and university reps, help connect us to life beyond LEH – and remind us how many exciting paths lie ahead. But Sixth Form isn’t just about academics – it’s about stepping up and standing out. From MedSoc, and MUN to roles as Inclusion Champions, Creative Directors, Subject Reps and Digital Mentors, there are countless opportunities to lead, contribute and make your voice heard. These roles aren’t just titles – they’re chances to shape the future of our school, and to learn what kind of leader you want to be. The growth we experience – academically, emotionally and personally – is transformational. We’ll leave LEX Sixth Form as young women with purpose, perspective, and the courage to take on whatever comes next. Saying goodbye next July will be hard. LEH has shaped us, challenged us, and cheered us on – and our time in the Sixth Form will be the part we carry with us most of all. Because this is where everything begins. Head Girl Team 2026–27

YOUR WELLBEING, OUR PRIORITY At LEH, we believe that when you feel happy, confident, and valued, you thrive – not just academically, but in every area of life. That’s why wellbeing isn’t an afterthought here – it’s embedded in everything we do. You’ll join a vibrant, inclusive community where everyone is encouraged to be themselves and support one another. You’ll learn alongside engaged, ambitious peers, and you’ll be challenged to stretch yourself creatively, academically, athletically but never without the support to navigate the ups and downs along the way.

SMALL GROUPS, BIG IMPACT From your first day, you’ll be part of a small tutor group – just ten students on average and your Form Tutor will be your daily guide and mentor throughout your two years in the Sixth Form. They’ll help you stay on track, celebrate your successes, and work with you through challenges. They’ll also oversee your UCAS application and support you in crafting a standout personal statement.

FRIENDSHIPS THAT LIFT YOU UP The sense of connection within the Sixth Form is real – it’s a place where deep, lasting friendships are formed. Through our House system, you’ll also build relationships with

6

younger pupils and can take on the role of mentor and role model. You might even choose to train as a Peer Mentor yourself, helping others while strengthening your own skills in empathy and leadership.

SUPPORT EVERY STEP OF THE WAY Our pastoral care team is always here when you need them. We have two School Nurses on site, and confidential counselling support is available for anyone who needs it. Life Advice sessions, visiting speakers and workshops tackle the big topics: from managing stress and building self-esteem, to navigating relationships, digital safety, and preparing for adult life. Recent topics we’ve explored include: • Mental health and mindfulness • Healthy relationships and consent • Digital awareness and online safety • Stress and time management • Nutrition and body confidence • Gender identity and inclusion • Substance misuse and personal safety • Female empowerment and leadership At LEH, your wellbeing isn’t just supported – it’s celebrated. Because we know that bold futures are only possible when you’re equipped to take on the world, in every sense.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE At LEH, we know that exam results aren’t everything – but they do open doors. To the universities of your dreams. To careers that challenge and inspire. To a future that you get to shape. That’s why academic excellence sits at the heart of the Sixth Form experience.

You’ll also sit internal exams at the end of the Lower Sixth and mock exams in January of Upper Sixth, so you’re well-prepared and confident when it counts the most. We offer flexibility and independence – including in how you work; you will bring in your own laptop through our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) scheme and have access to Sixth Form only spaces for learning.

THREE OR FOUR A LEVELS? IT’S YOUR CHOICE.

Three A levels may suit you if you: • Want to specialise early and focus deeply on subjects that align with your university plans. • Are confident in your subject choices and want to balance academic work with wider reading, EPQ, and co-curricular opportunities.

You’ll follow a two-year linear programme, with A level exams taken at the end of Upper Sixth. Most students will choose to study three or four A levels, alongside the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is a chance to explore a subject you’re passionate about in real depth, while developing research, presentation and academic writing skills that universities value.

Four A levels may be right if you: • Thrive on challenge and want to broaden your academic horizons. • Are still exploring your university options and value the flexibility four subjects provide. Whatever you choose, we’ll support you to aim high and reach higher. We’ll always do our best to accommodate your first choice subjects, though occasionally we may not be able to run a course if fewer than three students opt for it. For new courses, we may require a larger number to ensure a rich and rewarding classroom experience.

SUBJECTS OFFERED Choose from an exciting range of A level subjects, designed to inspire curiosity and stretch thinking: Art Art Textiles Biology Chemistry Classical Civilisation Classical Greek Computer Science Drama and Theatre Economics

English Literature French Geography German History History of Art Latin Mandarin Mathematics

Whatever path you take, LEH is the place where bold futures begin – and where you’ll be empowered to create your own.

"Follow your passions, apply yourself fully." MERRYL ANSAH, LEH ALUMNA, CLASS OF 2011 8

PLAY TO YOUR STRENGTHS, FOLLOW YOUR PASSIONS At LEH, we believe A level success comes from a combination of passion and purpose. When choosing your subjects, think boldly – but wisely. What do you love? Where do you shine? Which subjects will stretch you and bring you joy? We encourage students to select A levels in subjects where they’ve already demonstrated strong achievement and genuine interest. As a guide, we recommend choosing subjects in which you’ve achieved a Grade 8 or 9 at GCSE, and we require at least a Grade 7 to take that subject at A level.

Some subjects are more demanding from the outset. For Mathematics and Physics, a Grade 8 is required, and a Grade 9 is strongly recommended to ensure you're ready to thrive from the very beginning. Your Sixth Form journey is yours to shape and it starts by making choices that challenge, excite and empower you. We're here to guide you every step of the way.

THE EXTENDED PROJECT QUALIFICATION (EPQ)

The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is your chance to step beyond the syllabus and take the lead on a project that’s entirely your own. Highly respected by universities – some even make lower offers to students who complete one. The EPQ is worth half an A level, with A* as the top grade.

WHAT’S INVOLVED? You’ll explore a topic that inspires you, designing and delivering a research project from start to finish. That might mean writing a 5,000-word essay, or creating an artefact (such as a product, performance or artwork) accompanied by a 2,000-word report. Either way, you’ll also maintain a reflective log that charts your thinking, choices, challenges, and progress along the way. This isn’t just about what you discover – it’s about how you think. You’ll sharpen your skills in: • Independent research • Academic writing • Critical analysis • Presentation and public speaking It’s one of the best ways to show universities – and yourself – what you’re capable of when you set your sights high.

10

"A great opportunity to develop your research skills and enhance your university application by delving deeper into a subject you love." ALUMNA

WHEN DOES IT HAPPEN?

You’ll start with a series of skills-based lessons in the Autumn Term of the Lower Sixth, covering everything from choosing a title to referencing, time management, and research techniques. From January, you’ll begin your research and write-up, with your final submission due by the end of the Lower Sixth year. You’ll then present your project to an audience of teachers and peers – a real showcase moment.

HOW WILL YOU BE SUPPORTED? While you won’t have formal EPQ lessons, you won’t be on your own. A dedicated supervisor will guide you, offering feedback and direction while giving you the space to own your process. This is about independence – about learning to lead, think, and write like a scholar. Choose a topic that excites you – whether it links to a future degree or simply reflects a personal passion. Past EPQs have been impressively wide-ranging, including: Are the legal rulings on cases of withdrawal of life sustaining treatment in England and Wales from 1993-2023 morally just? To what extent is CAR-T cell therapy more effective than chemotherapy for treating haematological cancers? A critical exploration of the side effects and benefits of Kaftrio, a drug used to treat Cystic Fibrosis. During World War 2, in Germany and the USA, was propaganda's main aim to mobilise women's war efforts, or was it to enforce a country's ideology through its presentation of women?

11

How can you optimise the use of solar power generation at home using Raspberry Pi and IoT automation technologies? At LEH, the EPQ isn’t just an academic exercise – it’s a springboard for bold ideas, deeper learning, and confident futures.

" The EPQ gave me the freedom

to explore a subject I love beyond the curriculum. With expert guidance and regular support from staff, I gained confidence in my research, writing and presentation skills – all of which have been invaluable in preparing for university. " UPPER 6 STUDENT
