What Is A Hearing Loop?

Hearing Loops allow people who wear hearing aids to directly receive the sound from the theatre’s sound system in their own hearing aids, much like Wi-Fi for laptops. If you wear hearing instruments, and they have a wireless receiver called a T-coil or Telecoil built-in, you will benefit from the hearing loop in our theatre. The T-coil program is accessed by pushing a button on your hearing aid. This T-coil setting has to be activated before use. Please consult your audiologist to ensure your t-coils are properly adjusted.

If you do not have a T-coil equipped hearing instrument, please feel free to stop by the box office to pick up a hearing assist device.

A Note from our Executive Director

Welcome, friends, to a truly special performance of Once Upon a Mattress! As Executive Director of La Crosse Community Theatre, I couldn't be prouder of the incredible work you're about to witness.

This summer, our Altra Star Academy High School Camp students have embarked on an ambitious journey. In just three short weeks, they've not only learned an entire fulllength musical but have also brought this classic tale to life with their remarkable talent and dedication. Their commitment, energy, and sheer joy for performance are evident in every scene, song, and dance.

Once Upon a Mattress is a delightful twist on a classic fairy tale, reminding us that true royalty lies not in titles or tests, but in character and courage. Our mission at La Crosse Community Theatre is to enrich, educate, and entertain our community, and watching these young artists grow and shine through the Altra Star Academy perfectly embodies that vision.

This production, and indeed our entire Altra Star Academy, wouldn't be possible without the incredible dedication of the staff of both La Crosse Community Theatre and the School District of La Crosse. This is truly a partnership that strengthens our community, providing invaluable arts education and performance opportunities for young people. We are so grateful for their tireless work, passion, and collaborative spirit.

We also extend our deepest gratitude to Altra Federal Credit Union. Their generous support has allowed them to join LCT and the School District of La Crosse as a vital third partner in our theatre education programming. Their commitment to fostering youth development and arts access is truly commendable, and we're so fortunate to have them on board.

Thank you for supporting these exceptional students and for being a vital part of the La Crosse Community Theatre family. Enjoy the show – it's going to be a royally good time!

With gratitude and joy

Director’s Note

The background music of this entire show should be a ticking clock! The residents of this lovely kingdom need a princess and fast! Otherwise the residents will remain in waiting of marriage for years and years. Winnifred’s splashy entrance takes the providence by storm; thankfully she woos (almost) everyone with her confidence in who she is and the power that she passes on to everyone around her. This camp has also had the sound of a ticking clock in the background: this production has come together over only 91 hours or 5,460 minutes or 327,600 seconds to be exact. The campers and production team have risen to the occasion in ways that leave me in awe of their talent, hard work, and perseverance. The shortened process never scared them, they buckled down and crafted this amazing performance you are about to enjoy. Not only that, they have made our time together so fun and hard to leave. Leaving is always hard, and I am certain it is the most difficult for our seniors in this camp. They have shared their summer with us and will now go off into the adult world to make it their own We will miss them desperately but cannot wait to cheer them on as they grow as individuals and make the world in their amazing image.

I would like to dedicate this production to our seniors: Oliver Olson, Aerin Gotts, Marcus Palm, and Dexter Shrek. We are so excited to continue to clap for you in all your future endeavors.!

2025 makes the 7th Annual Musky Challenge.

From June through early October, Rotarian Al Louis will be fishing Lake Vermilion in Northern Minnesota. This year, he will fish with his fishing partners, both named A.J., as well as multiple sponsor guests and fellow Rotarians.

Did you know? In general it takes about 10,000 casts to catch one musky! 2022 was a record year with 86 musky caught in the boat while previous years only yielded 7-8.

What will 2025 yield? A new record caught? A normal year with 5-7 fish caught or maybe a new state record which currently sits at 58.25. On July 11, 2023, Al caught his PERSONAL BEST at 55".

Al is community members to contribute to the annual event by a flat dollar pledge or a pledge per fish caught in the boat.

This year’s proceeds will support Big Brothers Big Sisters of the 7 Rivers Region, the La Crosse Community Theatre, and GROW, three organizations helping to mentor, inspire, and nourish the next generation.

Help us Leap into the LEAP Center!

As LCT continues to grow, we need additional space outside of the Weber Center for the Performing Arts. We need additional space to rehearse, hold educational events, build sets, and to store our inventory of props, costumes, and scenery.

That's where the Lyche Education and Production Center comes in. The LEAP Center, located at 724 Cass St, holds immense promise for LCT, and we's been busy converting the space to our needs. But we can't do it alone!

Now is YOUR chance to become part of the profound impact this expansion will have on the future of La Crosse Community Theatre. Your support and consideration in this matter is invaluable!

Together we will transform the arts in the Coulee Region!
