A Note from our Executive Director Welcome to La Crosse Community Theatre’s 2026–2027 season! There is something especially exciting about opening a new season. It is a moment to celebrate where we have been, imagine where we are going, and gather once again around the joy of live theatre. Arsenic and Old Lace is the perfect production with which to begin that journey: a beloved comedy that honors our rich theatrical heritage while reminding us that a classic can still surprise us when viewed through fresh eyes. That connection between heritage and possibility is central to LCT’s mission and vision. We strive to honor the traditions that have shaped community theatre while remaining a dynamic and creative force for its future. We believe the stage should be a place where people come together, where collaboration thrives, and where the talents of our neighbors create something none of us could accomplish alone. Guest director Steven Walker has embraced that spirit wholeheartedly. His unique vision imagines Arsenic and Old Lace as an old movie brought to life before our eyes—capturing the style, atmosphere, and wonderfully macabre humor of a classic film while taking full advantage of the immediacy of live performance. Steven, thank you for sharing your creativity, leadership, and distinctive perspective with LCT and our community. This production—and everything we do—depends upon collaboration. If you know theater at all, you probably know Arsenic and Old Lace. If you know old movies, you probably know Arsenic and Old Lace. If you know Cary Grant, or Boris Karloff, or the golden age of Hollywood... you probably know arsenic. That can be daunting. Re-mounting something so beloved and so well known. So... why recreate the wheel? That was my thinking with this production. Strip it back, let it stand on its own, and give the people what they know. A leading man... his starlet... and nary a drop of distraction from what you know and love. Amy Anderson (Martha Brewster) Amy is so excited to share this fantastic show with you! Playing a feisty lady who kills off men is truly a dream come true (strictly on stage, of course). She has recently been seen in LCT’s Vanya, Sonia, Masha &and Spike, and staged readings of August: Osage County and Arcadia. She is grateful to Steven and this wildly talented cast for bringing so much fun and laughter, to my amazing daughter who shares my love of theatre, and for the gift of stories and the hope they bring.
Dennis Dorman (The Rev. Dr. Harper) This show marks the tenth LCT production for Dennis including Titanic, Elf, Wizard of Oz, and more recently Gypsy and Oliver. But this is the first non-musical for him. What a great treat to be part of such a talented cast putting on such a great, fun comedy. Thanks for coming and I hope everyone enjoys the show. Without an audience, its just practice. As always, thanks to Ellie for supporting me, especially running lines and juggling schedules.

Eric Stoughtenger (Officer Brophy) Eric Stoughtenger is elated to be part of Arsenic and Old Lace! He was last seen onstage at LCT in the Oliver! ensemble and as Max’s understudy in Lend Me a Tenor, and has spent plenty of time backstage for many more productions. Eric sends his deepest thanks to his wife Marissa—his greatest supporter and the true MVP of every show—along with his friends, family, fur babies, and theatre crew besties. He’s endlessly grateful to everyone at LCT who makes every production a joy. Thank you all for supporting local theatre and enjoy the show! Jake Leis (Mortimer Brewster) Hello?! Who are you? Please, I’ll do whatever you want, just put down the gun… Oh, you want me to do my bio for the program? Why?! No one reads those things! OK! I’ll do it. Jake is extremely excited to return to the stage to play Mortimer. Past credits include Robert in Don’t Dress For Dinner, and Peter in Silent Sky… Wait, what’s that razor for?
Jon Iliff (Officer Klein) Jon is excited to be back on stage for his first show this year. His most recent show was Frozen (Ensemble) at LCT last season. Jordan Rooker (Dr. Einstein) Jordan returns to the LCT Stage after last appearing as Tito in Lend Me a Tenor during the ‘25-‘26 season. He’s grateful for the opportunity to continue doing what he loves! Thankful as always to his wife Rachel and kiddos Wyatt and Layla for encouraging him to do so. Here’s to another season! Julianna Bruemmer (Officer O'Hara) Julianna is excited to be back on the LCT stage, and with her family no less! She was last seen in Gypsy: A Musical Fable as Agnes/Ensemble. When not on stage, you can find Julianna curled up with a good book and a cup of tea. She is forever grateful that she has the opportunity to share the stage with her mom and brother. Enjoy the show!

a cast member with Storybook Land Theatre in Aberdeen SD. MaKenna Johnson (Elaine Harper) MaKenna is thrilled to be back on the LCT stage! Previously, she was in Come From Away and White Christmas with LCT. She earned her Bachelor’s in Theatre performance from UWL in 2017 and then went on to earn her Master’s at UWM and now works as a law librarian. She thanks her family, friends, and amazing fiancé for their support. Enjoy the show! Rhiannon Baasch (Mr. Gibbs/Mr. Witherspoon ) Rhiannon is so excited to be back on stage and to be part of this wonderful production! Past shows include A Doll's House, Part 2 (Emmy), Oliver! (Milkmaid and u/s Mrs. Sowerberry), and Steel Magnolia's (u/s Annelle). She has also previously music directed for Deer Camp and Frozen. During the day, she teaches elementary music at Summit Environmental School.
Stacy Bruemmer (Teddy Brewster) Stacy is no stranger to the LCT stage. She has played everything from a painting on a wall (Adventures Await) to Fagin (Oliver!) to Cindy Lou Who (Who's Holiday). Vera Hawkins (Adam Hoskins) Vera is from La Crosse, WI, and can frequently be seen onstage at Viterbo. She is thrilled to share her talents with La Crosse Community Theatre. It has been quite an adventure preparing herself to be stage-ready with her wonderful castmates! Lastly, she'd like to shout out Vicki Applebaum for the friendship that grew out of playing similar roles.
Vicki Applebaum (Tony Spenalzo) Vicki is just dying to take part in sharing Arsenic and Old Lace with audiences in La Crosse! She lives in La Crescent and is a regular cast member in La Crescent-Hokah High School productions. Michelle Lokken Kelley (Hair, Wigs,& Makeup Designer) Michelle has spent time participating in the theater .Michelle was also a choreographer for musical and dance events.She did some acting at the college in Eau Claire.This is her first time volunteering on the stage to do hair, makeup and wigs for the actors. Michelle also sits on the board of directors for the LCT Community Board
Mike Speck (Fight Choreographer) Mike Speck has worn many hats at LCT: besides fight direction (Frozen, One Christmas Eve) and acting (One Christmas Eve, Arcadia, August: Osage County), he also works regularly in the box office and will make his LCT directing debut next month with Comic Potential. He teaches and choreographs stage combat regularly for Viterbo.

You may also have seen him on stage in The Odd Couple, in the Stage reading Series production of Church and State, or on your television as host of the weekly show, Living Local on Fox 25/48. Joseph Kesselring (Author) Joseph Otto Kesselring was born in New York City on June 21, 1902. His career was always linked in some way to the theatre. His early years were spent as a singer (boy soprano and adult tenor), and at the age of twenty, he began teaching music and directing amateur theatre productions at Bethel College in Newton, Kansas. At twenty-three, he left academia to pursue acting,
writing short stories, and producing vaudeville plays. He acted professionally in GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES at the age of twenty-four and, at thirty-one, one year after his marriage to Charlotte Elsheimer, he devoted himself to writing, continuing to pen short stories and initiating his career as a playwright. Between 1933 and his death in 1967, he authored twelve plays—mostly light comedies. His first play to be produced, AGGIE APPLEBY, MAKER OF MEN, premiered in 1933, and four later plays were produced on Broadway: THERE’S WISDOM IN WOMEN (1935), ARSENIC AND OLD LACE (1941), FOUR TWELVES ARE 48 (1951), and MOTHER OF THAT WISDOM (1963). Mr. Kesselring died on November 5, 1967, at the age of sixty-five.

Audience Services PURCHASING TICKETS • The box office is open from 3 pm until 5 pm Monday through Friday and for one hour prior to each performance. • The box office accepts cash, checks, and credit/debit cards. • Single tickets become available for purchase 60 days before a production’s opening night. NEED TO EXCHANGE YOUR TICKETS? Any ticket exchanges must be done through the box office in person or over the phone. Tickets may only be exchanged for another performance of the same show. UNABLE TO USE YOUR TICKETS? Please contact the box office to see if an exchange for a different date can be made. On rare occasions, LCT has allowed a ticket for one production to be used at a different production. If no exchanges can be made, the ticket price may be written off as a donation tax credit. CAMERAS AND/OR RECORDING EQUIPMENT The use of cameras and/or recording equipment is strictly prohibited in the theatre. If you need to answer a call, please do so in the lobby so as to not disrupt the performance. GREETING THE ARTISTS Flowers may be left in the box office for the stage manager to deliver or you may hand them to the cast member once they are in the lobby at the conclusion of the performance. Audience members are not allowed backstage. BAD WEATHER POLICY If you have concerns about the weather facing an upcoming performance, please call the box office to double check that the performance will still continue. On rare occasions, LCT has canceled performances due to bad weather or cast conditions. If this occurs, exchanges or refunds will be issued. BABIES AND SMALL CHILDREN Every individual, no matter the age, must have a ticket in order to attend the performance. If you would like to bring your children, please purchase seats for them even if they will be seated on someone’s lap. SEAT RESERVATIONS Reservations for the general public begin at least 60 days before the opening of each show; season ticket reservations open the week prior. Patron donors may reserve their seats at any time. Please call the box office at 608-784-9292 if you have any questions. LATE SEATING POLICY Late arrivals will be seated at the house manager’s discretion during an appropriate point in the performance. If you arrive more than 15 minutes after the show begins, we reserve the right to release your seat(s) to someone else.
