La Crosse Community Theatre's vision is a continuum, bridging our heritage with our everevolving future, where the magic of the theater continues to resonate and illuminate the hearts and minds of our community.
WHO WE ARE La Crosse Community Theatre has been the Coulee Region's premiere arts institution since 1963 and is currently the primary resident of the state-of-the-art Weber Center for the Performing Arts which is nestled on the beautiful banks of the Mississippi River. Entertaining thousands of patrons each year, LCT now produces four main stage shows in the 450-seat Lyche Theatre, three black box shows in the 100-seat Veterans Studio Theatre, three staged readings, and a theatre for young audiences touring production. We also offer youth performance and education opportunities through our Star Academy, which provides tuition free classes and camps to socioeconomically disadvantaged youth, and The Penguin Project, which invites youth with disabilities to appear in a musical with the support of a peer mentor. LCT is a member of the American Association of Community Theatre and the Wisconsin Association of Community Theatre.

THE PURPOSE OF THE ADVISORY BOARD OBJECTIVE The Advisory Board is a strategic initiative designed to provide guidance and support to LCT’s Executive Director and the Board of Directors. Your contributions will help LCT navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and maintain a strong connection with our community.
The Advisory Board’s roles encompass providing crucial advisory support, serving as a resource for networking and recruitment, and acting as ambassadors for LCT.
GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE The Board of Directors continues to govern La Crosse Community Theatre, making final decisions on all organizational matters. The Advisory Board serves in a consultative capacity, offering advisory support and acting as ambassadors for LCT. This structure ensures that while the Board of Directors governs, the Advisory Board significantly contributes to strategic planning and community engagement efforts. PA G E : 5

COMPOSITION & DIVERSITY The Advisory Board comprises a diverse group of individuals, including former board members, significant donors, sponsor representatives, influential community leaders, and key volunteers. This diversity ensures a broad range of perspectives and skills, contributing to the overall effectiveness and success of LCT.

Membership is limited to 30 members, with a three-year term limit and a maximum of two consecutive terms. Members must take a break of at least one year before being eligible for reappointment. Membership is by invitation from the Executive Director or a member of the Board of Directors. The Executive Director or the Board of Directors reserves the right to ask any member who no longer aligns with LCT’s mission and values to leave the Advisory Board.
MEETINGS & ENGAGEMENT SCHEDULE & STRUCTURE The Advisory Board will conduct biannual meetings, strategically aligned with key milestones or planning periods. Each meeting will have a structured agenda to address pertinent updates, discussions, and feedback. Meetings will be limited to a reasonable timeframe to ensure engagement and productivity.
COMMUNICATION & INTERACTION LCT will maintain regular communication with Advisory Board members through various channels, including update emails, newsletters, and other platforms. Occasional events or gatherings will be organized to foster interpersonal relationships within the Advisory Board, creating a cohesive and supportive environment. PA G E : 7
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES ADVISORY SUPPORT As a member of the Advisory Board, your primary role is to provide valuable advice and insights to the Executive Director and Board of Directors. Your expertise will help inform decisions that align with LCT’s mission and goals.
NETWORKING & RECRUITMENT The Advisory Board serves as a resource for identifying potential new board members and enhancing community connections. By leveraging your networks, you will help identify individuals with the right skills and commitment to join LCT’s leadership.
AMBASSADORSHIP Board members act as ambassadors for La Crosse Community Theatre, promoting our mission and initiatives within the community. Your advocacy will enhance LCT’s visibility and impact, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders and ensuring community engagement.
COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP Members of the Advisory Board are invited to serve on various committees alongside the Board of Directors, should they wish to do so. By participating in these committees, members can offer their expertise and perspectives on specific projects and areas of focus, further strengthening the connection between the Advisory Board and the Board of Directors. This optional involvement is designed to leverage the diverse skills and experiences of the Advisory Board.

EVALUATION & REVIEW FEEDBACK MECHANISM Board members will be encouraged to provide regular feedback on their experiences, the relevance of discussions, and the effectiveness of meetings. This feedback can be shared through formal channels such as feedback forms, as well as through informal conversations with the Executive Director and other key leaders. By actively seeking and valuing this input, we aim to foster a culture of openness and continuous improvement.
IMPLEMENTING CHANGES Based on the insights gained from evaluations and feedback, LCT will implement necessary changes to enhance the Advisory Board’s effectiveness. This may include adjustments to meeting structures, changes in membership composition, or the introduction of new initiatives to better align the board’s activities with the theatre’s strategic goals.
