Ten years ago, my wife and I were celebrating the birth of our rst child when we got the news no parent wants to hear. Our newborn baby, Aidan, was diagnosed at just three months old with a rare tumor. He needed surgery to remove the tumor. However, the condition was so rare that only two hospitals in the nation had surgeons trained to perform this specialized surgery on infants, one of which was UC San Francisco. We immediately contacted The Local 1014 Health Plan and appealed to the Board of Trustees to fund the surgery. The Local 1014 Health Plan and the excellent staff not only funded the surgery but also ensured that we were taken care of and had the support we needed at each step of the process. The tumor caused multiple complications, making travel to San Francisco dif cult, but the Trust supported us every step of the way, making sure we got our baby boy to UC San Francisco safely. We have significantly increased our dental benefits this year! We have increased our dental implant benefit from $2,500 to $12,000!!! This is in addition to $1,500 in excess dental!
We also increase our lifetime orthodontia allowance from $3,000 to $5,000!
INCREASED VISION BENEFIT!
We o er a vision plan that gives you the most flexibility and the highest dollar value with a $300 allowance for a wide selection of frames every 12 months and an increase allowance for contact lenses to $400 every 12 months!
EXPANDED FERTILITY BENEFITS:
We expanded our fertility benefits, including In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and Intrauterine Insemination (IUI). We significantly increased ALL of our allowances for this benefit to include a $15,000 lifetime benefit for diagnosis. We doubled our lifetime benefit for treatment to $50,000 and increased lifetime benefit for drug therapy to $37,500.
