If you are not currently enrolled in the Local 1014 Health Plan, sign-up during Open Enrollment: October 1-31, 2018. Look for our Open Enrollment information starting in September to learn about all the enhanced benefits The Local 1014 Health Plan offers for you and your family.

In this edition, we have highlighted some of the new benefits available to members through the 1014 Health Plan.

The Local 1014 health Plan is among the most comprehensive plans available to Firefighters anywhere in the nation and is tailored to meet our Firefighters’ needs. This year, we will be expanding our benefits to include excess dental, hearing, fertility, and medical weight loss benefits just to name a few. Higher allowances, increased coverage, new benefits and greater options are just a few of the highlights of The Local 1014 Health Plan in 2019.

The Local 1014 Health Plan is the only health plan offered in the County that you can take with you into retirement and maintain FOR LIFE. It has never been more important for our members to review your healthcare options and ensure that you have the best coverage available for you and your family.

This year is moving quickly and we are already nearing the LA County Choices Open Enrollment Period, October 1-31, 2018. Don’t wait until October to review your healthcare options.

Are you in need of a hearing aid or a hearing aid upgrade? The Local 1014 Health Plan has partnered with EPIC the premier provider of hearing care to provide members with exciting new benefits.

DENTAL

Do you need a crown, root canal, or fillings? The Local 1014 Health Plan has made it easier to get your dental expenses reimbursed.

Have a bad back or knee pain? The Local 1014 Health Plan will be increasing the visits allowed each year.

WEIGHT LOSS

Did you know the loss of as few as 20 pounds can help the management of heart disease, hypertension and diabetes? We will be easing the requirements to qualify for these programs and allowing more members access.

INTRAUTERINE INSEMINATION (IUI)

Looking to start a family? Stay tuned to learn how the Local 1014 Health Plan will be including intrauterine insemination (IUI) in our plan beginning in 2019.

BODY SCAN

Did you know Firefighters are at a higher risk that the general public for developing illness such as heart disease and lung cancer? We are pleased to announce that the Local 1014 Health Plan has extended the Body Scan benefit by an additional two years, now available until August 31, 2020.

HOSPICE

Looking into end-of-life care options for yourself or a loved one? We will also be increasing our allowance for Hospice Services in order to provide support during the most difficult time for members and their families.
