In the last edition of our

magazine, LACMA News, we covered compliance, a responsibility we have with our fellow agents, clients, employees and ourselves, to act appropriately and in accordance to our industry´s rules and regulations.

Continuing with the main articles of our LACMA News editions of this year, I would like to write about professional ethics. As you know, acting with integrity, honesty and transparency is a fundamental part of professional ethics. We associate with people and companies with these characteristics to do business… “Birds of a feather flock together”.

Most people have ethics in their DNA. Unfortunately, there are a few that don’t. In our international moving industry we rely greatly on ethics. Our employees have to act with ethics when treating their colleagues and clients.

If the organization´s leader is not ethical, neither will the employees be. We select companies with a high sense of professional ethics, ones we trust our shipments to, because they will act properly in their procedures and interactions with us and with our clients.

The companies with ethical responsibility protect the information and confidentiality of their clients and do not exchange gifts in order to obtain benefits.

Recently, two multinational companies, United Airlines and Volkswagen, had to lay off their Presidents because of ethical scandals. The first one was for giving away tickets to a senior officer of the Airport Authority and the second for scamming a United State’s Regulatory Entity.

Conflicts of interest and seeking employees from our competitor’s also threaten the professional ethical standards, as well as bribery and corruption. By November 1st of this year, FIDI has asked all of its members to sign an anti-bribery and anti-corruption document. Avoiding signing this document could represent an expulsion from FIDI. It is the responsibility of all of us to promote best practices of competition and defend the illegal restrictions, as this will strengthen our industry with a high sense of professional ethics.

Como ustedes saben, actuar con integridad, honestidad y transparencia es parte fundamental de la ética profesional. Nos asociamos con personas y empresas con estas características para intercambiar negocios…

“Dime con quién andas y te diré quien eres.”

La mayoría de las personas llevan la ética en su DNA. Lamentablemente, hay unos pocos que no. En nuestra industria de mudanzas internacionales dependemos mucho de la ética. Nuestros empleados tienen que actuar con ética al tratar con sus colegas y clientes. Si el que lidera la organización no es ético, sus empleados tampoco lo serán.

Seleccionamos a empresas con un alto sentido de ética profesional, a quienes les confiamos nuestros embarques, porque serán correctos en su

proceder e interacción con nosotros y con nuestros clientes.

Las empresas éticamente responsables protegen la información y la confidencialidad de sus clientes y no practican el intercambio de regalos para obtener beneficios.

Recientemente dos empresas multinacionales, United Airlines y Volkswagen tuvieron que despedir a sus Presidentes por escándalos de ética. El primero fue por regalar pasajes a un alto funcionario de la Autoridad Aeroportuaria y el segundo por engañar a un Ente Regulador en los EEUU. El conflicto de interés y buscar empleados en la competencia también atentan contra los estándares de la ética profesional, como también lo son el soborno y la corrupción. Para el primero de noviembre de este año, FIDI ha solicitado a toda su membresía firmar un documento donde aseguramos la práctica de anti-soborno y anti-corrupción. No firmar este documento puede conllevar a la expulsión de FIDI. Es responsabilidad de todos promover prácticas sanas de competencia y defender las restricciones ilegales, ya que así fortaleceremos nuestra industria con un alto sentido de ética profesional.

tion, we did two on-site seminars in the Dominican Republic…”Coaching for Packers’ Instructors” and “Moving from A – Z”.

The first one’s objective is to form internal instructors within your companies – personnel with leadership qualities, capable of processing the information received and transmitting it to your companies´ personnel, especially packers.

This seminar covers technical aspects (packing, loading, density optimization, use of equipment and materials, etc.) and expands the personal development of the instructor (effective communication, values, teamwork, attitudes and habilities).

Its approach aims to guide towards quality and standarization. It should be emphazised that this does not end with the simple participation of one of your employees in the seminar; it entails the responsibility of applying the knowledge received by performing the same seminar to the sales, warehouse, heads of crews, and packers within your companies. All the process is regulated and finally, once it is performed, your company will receive the LACMA Certified Packers Certification, tool that additionally to contributing 14

“Moving from A - Z”, as its title indicates, coves from the initial client´s call to the delivery and assistance with the claims and it gives the participant a comprehensive approach to the overall moving industry, so as to better understand the complexity of the organization as a whole.

El primero tiene como objetivo formar instructores internos en sus empresas – personal con habilidades de liderazgo y capacidad de absorber el conocimiento recibido y transmitirlo a personal en sus empresas, principalmente a los embaladores.

I want to let you know that both seminars were more than good… They were excellent! Time flew and everyone was greatly motivated and eager to continue and to practice what they had learned.

I wish to thank the members of the Dominican Republic for their cooperation and courtesies… we felt the warmth and affection, and their interest to offer, each day more, a better service to its customers.

As we promised, we will be performing these seminars in different countries, especilly in our region, in order to avoid greater travel and hotel costs to our members and enhance the quality of our membership and provide a tool for competitiveness.

And don´t forget…Colombia awaits us next March 6-9; it will be a pleasure to see all of you at our convention!

Su enfoque tiene el objetivo de orientar hacia la estandarización y a la calidad.

Cabe recalcar que esto no termina con la simple participación de sus colaboradores en un seminario; conlleva la responsabilidad de cada participante de aplicar los conocimientos recibidos impartiendo el seminario a personal de ventas, bodega, jefes de equipo y embaladores en sus empresas. IN LATIN AMERICA? Crisis Humanitarias ¿Qué estamos haciendo en América Latina?

U

nfortunately in the past years, the humanitarian crisis has risen, uncovering the lack of global politics and the management incapacity of many countries regarding these problems that, since World War II, weren’t present in 4 continents simultaneously.

The fear infused by war, persecutions, ethnic or religious, has become more latent in Europe, Asia and Africa. Meanwhile in America, the armed conflicts and the political differences are the major cause of territorial and ideological struggles.

n los últimos años y por desgracia, las crisis humanitarias han ido en aumento, evidenciando la falta de políticas globales y la incapacidad de gestión de muchos países ante estos problemas que, desde la Segunda Guerra Mundial, no estaban presentes en 4 continentes a la vez.

Los temores infundidos por las guerras, persecuciones, éticas o religiosas, se hacen más latentes en los continentes Europeos, Asiático y Africano. Mientras que, en América, el conflicto armado y las diferencias políticas son las mayores causantes de estas luchas territoriales y/o ideológicas.

Since the war in Syria exploded, Brazil has opened its doors to many refugees. It is not the only country in the region to do so, Argentina also has given special visas that allow them to remain in the country for 3 years and apply for a National Identity Document.

Desde que estalló la Guerra Civil en Siria, Brasil ha abierto sus puertas a muchos refugiados, sin embargo, no es el único país en la región en hacerlo, Argentina también ha otorgado visado especial que permite permanecer en el país por 3 años e inclusive optar por tener un Documento Nacional de Identidad.

Meanwhile, Uruguay has received 44 refugees of that nationality and was one the countries that mobilized the most to create awareness about this issue. Chile, is evaluating taking-in more Syrians; for the moment they have accepted only 10 and Mexico has implemented the “Project Habesha” that provides support to those Syrian citizens who want to study.

The migration crisis is the worst seen since World War II

Many European countries have allowed the entrance of more than 500 thousand refugees and, although the global perspective still tries to measure all the impact caused, it is positive to recognize that many nations have opened to the idea of improving their migration policies to benefit the victims of these situations.

Latin America in general, though geographically distant, has become a major help in the conflict resolution through their contributions in the UN and other organizations that work tireless to mediate and protect the human rights of those affected.

Help in any way you can!

La crisis migratoria es la peor vista desde la Segunda Guerra Mundial Muchos países Europeos ya le han permitido la entrada a más de 500 mil refugiados y, aunque la perspectiva global aún intenta dimensionar todo el impacto causado, es positivo reconocer que muchas naciones se han abierto a la idea de mejorar sus políticas migratorias en beneficencia de estas situaciones y de sus principales víctimas.

América Latina en general, aunque distante geográficamente, ha sido una ayuda fundamental para la resolución de conflictos a través de sus aportes en la ONU y otras organizaciones que hacen un trabajo incansable para mediar y proteger los derechos humanos de los afectados.

With the global popularization of Social Responsibility, we have seen huge contributions in the ethical investment. This has made the companies in our industry more and more competitive. However, there still are circumstances where the ethics can be compromised. According to Jeff Walker, President of the company MovingScams.com, who examines possible scenarios in moving companies, these are some of the common bad practices:

Work ethics is an intangible asset that helps us, not only to provide better services or products, but also to obtain a status in our market niche. We cannot underestimate the power of lack of ethics; it can create repercussions in our company and in our professional career.

Here are some factors one can take into consideration to start demonstrating good work ethics: Sense Of Responsibility When people feel responsible for their work, this will automatically create a commitment, caring about their performance and the results.

Discipline It takes time to develop work discipline, to organize ourselves to make sure we cover all the company’s requirements. But once we achieve it, it will be reflected considerably in our work quality.

Good teamwork communication Creating a strong communication helps the team to reach goals and companies’ objectives. It also prevents us from creating incorrect expectation to our clients.

It is a responsible commitment to emphasize in work ethics, from the CEO to the employees; it benefits the company, impacting the marketing campaigns and global positioning.

We must work together to create smooth collaborations and generate the necessary commitment to make sure our work stays aligned with our morals.

También, nos previene de establecerles expectativas equivocadas a nuestros clientes.

enezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro, decreed the closure of the border, specifically starting from the region of Tachira, after 3 military and one civilian were injured in a routine raid made to avoid extraction contraband, which consists in transporting subsidized products from Venezuela to Colombia, to sell them at better prices.

Both governments were working against this crime but it wasn’t until 2014 that President Maduro formally declared a war against contraband, bringing with it discontent from the Venezuelans, which lead to the decision of declaring a “state of emergency”.

El Presidente de Venezuela Nicolás Madu-

ro, decretó el cierre de la frontera específicamente comenzando por la región de Táchira, luego de que tres militares y un civil resultaran heridos en una redada rutinaria hecha para evitar el contrabando de extracción, el cual consiste en transportar productos subsidiados de Venezuela a Colombia para ser vendidos a mejor precio.

Ambos gobiernos han estado trabajando contra este delito pero no fue hasta el 2014 que el Presidente Maduro declaró la guerra contra el contrabando, trayendo consigo descontento de los venezolanos y desencadenó en la decisión de decretar el “estado de excepción”.

Reactions Colombian President, Juan Manuel Santos, rejected the decision from his Venezuelan counterpart, stating that the measure didn’t benefit anyone, nor brought a resolution to the border problem. At the same time, Venezuelan government took the measure of extraditing Colombians, with irregular status and allegedly linked to the paramilitary groups, in 5 municipalities.

The Colombian government started mobilizing humanitarian aid to those border locations. In the meantime, the chancellors, Delcy Rodriguez from Venezuela and Maria Angel Holguin from Colombia, held several meetings to explore a definite mechanism to solve the situation.

Reacciones El Presidente de Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, rechazó la decisión de su homólogo venezolano, asegurando que la medida no favorecía a nadie, ni aportaba una resolución al problema fronterizo. Al mismo tiempo, el Gobierno de Venezuela tomó la medida de extradición de Colombianos en 5 Municipios con status irregulares y supuestamente vinculados con el paramilitarismo.

El Gobierno Colombiano empezó a movilizar ayuda humanitaria a estas localidades fronterizas. Mientras tanto, las cancilleres Delcy Rodríguez, de Venezuela, y Maria Ángel Holguín, de Colombia sostuvieron múltiples reuniones para explorar mecanismos concretos que permitirían solventar la situación.

“The options for customers are maritime or air transports, which are expensive and slower, many companies have decided to withdraw executives from Venezuela because of the dramatic situation, but the output process takes time due to the lack of containers and the cargo flight restrictions. Stopovers are made in Europe in order to send the cargo to Colombia and other Latinamerican countries.”

Unless both Presidents agree to meet and discuss all the issues affecting the situation at the border there will be no advance to report.”

The Uruguayan and Ecuadorian Presidents, Tabare Vazquez and Rafael Correa, offered mediate the dialogue between the two presidents, which was held the past September 21st in Quito, Ecuador. The following agreements were made:

A new frontier of peace is about to be rebuilt in the neighboring countries and we expect for it to last throughout time.

50’s

I PLAYED LATIN MUSIC...

Ron Waddling recently caught up with Peter Naylor who has retired from leadership of the Tippet Richardson’s group of companies. Peter a young bass player of the 50’s recalls learning new notes when it came to the removals business.

Peter’s father Russell Naylor and his

uncle Walter were established at Tippet Richardson, a firm founded in 1927. After working briefly in the banking industry Peter joined the family. For over 60 years he created an innovative path in the removals business.

Before 1982, the moving industry was a regulated industry in Canada and Tippet- Richardson thrived as a regional mover. “The Friendly Mover” was known for their exceptional service. The truck with the logo of Mr. Tippet’s smiling face tipping his cap to his customer became iconic. TR’s base of operations was Ontario, expanding to Alberta in the mid 70’s, and adding California, British Columbia and the Maritime provinces in the 80’s.

Tippet-Richardson continued to evolve in answer to the demand for varied services. What was once a local household mover grew to include office moving, business records management, special products handling, real estate and solar energy, from local to international. In each sector, Tippet-Richardson and Peter Naylor maintained a strong commitment to excellent customer service and satisfaction.

Trans border crossings between Canada and USA were dealt with apprehension by many movers in North America. In his youth, young Naylor himself spent many summers running loads for TR between the two countries and always 42

felt the nations were seamless. Under his guidance TR became the recognised cross-border hauling agent for their van line. With the expertise and knowledge of border crossing and customs, Tippet-Richardson Limited would later open an office in California to move trailers full of main frames computers from the Silicon Valley to Canada, competing with the airlines.

“IT’S TRUE, I PLAYED BASS DURING THE BIG BAND ERA AT A HOLIDAY HOTEL DANCE HALL LOCATED AT PRESQU’ILE ABOUT TWO HOURS FROM TORONTO,” PETER RECOLLECTS. “HOWEVER I WAS 18 AND SHOWBIZ WAS NOT GOING TO BE MY CAREER.” Overseas moving, special lift vans, rail containers, sea shipping schedules, consolidated containers and single 40 foot containers required more knowledge than local or long distance moves across Canada and the USA. TR had both the proficiency and capability. Working with international firms with similar philos-

ophies as Tippet-Richardson and the Naylor family was essential.

By participating in the international relocation community Peter and his late wife Dolores were able to enhance their lives with many likeminded partners from culturally different backgrounds.

Peter and Dolores travelled the world, meeting and talking with owners and individuals. Many of their first contacts stemmed from earlier visits by Russell and Norah Peter’s parents who first represented TR overseas.

The Naylor representation continued with Bruce Naylor, his brother and Maureen his wife. The Naylor family remain a connected part of the international removals world. Peter’s children, Brenda and Kevin represent Tippet-Richardson, the values, international image and hospitality. ’Individuals and owners such as myself, involved in the international moving industry, developed friendships, (this is) an interesting aspect of our lives and businesses.

My parents, siblings and now my children have continued to develop and maintain those friendships throughout the world for over 60 years,’ ~Peter Naylor Peter travelled to the various conventions and industry events over the years, sharing his knowledge and learning from his fellow removal firms. During LACMA conferences he often compared notes on family owned and owner managed businesses in Central and South America.

At one international FIDI convention held in Madrid in 1985 where Peter was a key speaker, his message regarding the development and optimum use of warehouse space was instrumental in changing the way firms organised their business and resources.

Business records management, at the time, was not typically thought of as service offered by a household mover, but was in fact, a natural added value feature for business people who required secure storage space. The security required of warehouses for international and household storage provided ultimate protection for sensitive hard copy business files.

Through the efficient utilisation of buildings Tippet-Richardson created a real estate division where additional profit could be made in the building, acquiring and ultimately the selling of properties.

It was through storage that we were able to become a real estate company. Storage in our part is household goods and business records. Many business records companies approach this from the management perspective and are not interested in owning real estate. They make their money through management and records management services. It is a different approach. In my case, today the wealth comes from real estate not from moving,’ ~ Peter naylor.

Owning real estate did not diminish the operation of valued services. In fact, it allowed TR to expand services, control the grade of facilities, and utilise the company’s assets to the fullest extent.

Keeping up with changes in technology opened doors to new business and the firm continually looked ahead to opportunity. A division of Tippet’s known as special products catered to the fragility of

moving high tech computers and related support systems. Large items that demanded special warehousing and large cushioned tractor trailers in the 70’s and 80’s can now be managed by small padded packets.

’It was important during that time to have the proper equipment and facilities to service the new expertise. As computers and related products changed to being manufactured overseas and became much smaller, we adjusted. Our special products division was ready and capable of installing, wiring, configuring, refinishing and dismantling business workstations with computer desk terminals,’ ~ Peter Naylor Today, the new features of Tippet warehouses in Toronto are rotating solar panels. Innovative green thinking is another feature of TR’s track record of service and adaptation.

’Using the phrase “going green” means many things to many people.

How I tried to implement it in our company was with the development of solar panels on the roofs of our warehouses. We began in 2007 with the construction of a 40ft warehouse with the design for a solar panel system on the roof.

Since then, we have added a second warehouse with solar panels and a third is in the works. These will be significant revenue contributors as well as a renewable energy source for our community, ~ Peter Naylor

Just as Peter took to his father’s business, his children, now grown, have followed suit and taken interest in different divisions of the company. Brenda Naylor continues to own and operate TR Westcan Inc./Tippet-Richardson which is based out of Vancouver and Calgary.

Brenda is active in many international and domestic associations of the industry and manages the full service removals firm.

Kevin Naylor manages Tippet’s World (originally T-R Overseas) and is based in Toronto. Kevin continues to develop new methods of approaching the demand for international moving as the world becomes smaller and more mobile. Scott Naylor is assuming Peter’s role in overseeing Warehouse Properties Ltd. based in Toronto.

’To be a part of an ever-growing, ever-changing industry, where the most cherished objects of families, the most protected items of business are under my care has given me such satisfaction. In comparison, working with the international community prior to the internet and easily accessible travel and transportation may have been regarded as a challenge, but I am so grateful for the many wonderful international friends and movers that I met during that time and cherish to this day.

La seguridad requería de almacenes para mudanzas locales e internacionales con protección ultra sensible para archivos comerciales sensitivos.

A través de la eficiente utilización de sus edificios, Tippets-Richardson creó una división de negocios en el área de bienes y raíces generando ganancias adicionales, adquiriendo y vendiendo propiedades.

Ser dueño de una compañía de Bienes y Raíces no disminuye las operaciones en otros servicios. Al contrario, permitió a TR expandir sus servicios, controlar las instalaciones, y utilizar mejor los activos de la compañía.

Fue a través del almacenamiento que pudimos convertirnos en una empresa de bienes y raíces.

El almacenaje de nuestra parte es para bienes del hogar y archivos comerciales. Muchas compañías de manejo de archivos abordaron esto desde el punto de vista administrativo y no estaban interesados en crear una empresa de bienes y raíces.

Ellos generaban ganancias a tráves de manejo y almacenaje de archivos.

En mi caso, hoy en día las ganancias provienen de bienes y raíces, no de las mudanzas” – Peter Naylor

Estar a la vanguardia con los cambios tecnológicos abrió muchas puertas para hacer negocios y la compañía siempre estuvo en búsqueda de oportunidades. Una división de Tippets de productos especiales ha atendido la fragilidad de mover las computadoras de alta tecnología y los sistemas de apoyo conexos. Artículos de gran tamaño que demandaban un almacenaje especial y grandes camiones de remolques acolchonados en los años 70s y 80s, ahora pueden ser manejados por pequeños paquetes acolchados.

“Era importante durante ese tiempo tener el equipo adecuado y las instalaciones para dar servicio a la nueva experiencia. Cuando las computadoras y productos relacionados cambiaron de ser fabricados en el extranjero y se convirtió en algo mucho más pequeño, nos hemos ajustado. Nuestra división de productos especiales estaba lista y capaz para instalar cableado, configuración, renovación del acabado y el desmantelamiento de las estaciones de trabajo de negocios con terminales de escritorio de computadoras” – Peter Naylor Hoy en día, una nueva característica de los almacenes de Tippets de Toronto son los paneles solares rotativos. Un pensamiento verde innovador es otro de los elementos en los que TR lleva un historial de servicio y adaptación.

Así como Peter llevó el negocio de su padre, sus hijos, ya crecidos, han seguido el ejemplo y tomado interés en diferentes divisiones de la empresa. Brenda Naylor sigue dirigiendo y operando TR Westcan Inc. / Tippet-Richardson, que tiene su base en Vancouver y Calgary. Brenda está en muchas asociaciones nacionales e internacionales de la industria y gestiona la empresa de mudanzas.

Desde luego, ha dejado su huella con sus 60 años de presencia en la industria. Y todavía disfruta hoy la armonía del movimiento que migró desde América del Sur a América del Norte en los años 60 llamado Bossa Nova.

ur industry reminds us the necessity of ensuring our risks and the serious consequences of not doing so. Risk is the probability of occurrence of any event internally or externally that can harm our organization in time, cost, quality and reach.

The majority of the organizations take corrective actions but not preventive actions.

What is the Risk Management? Identifying the risk factors that could affect our company/department, prevent them, retain them and transfer them, so when a sinister happen it causes the less damage as possible.

Riesgo es la probabilidad de ocurrencia de cualquier evento interno o externo en una organización que nos afecta en tiempo, costo, calidad y alcance. La mayoría de Organizaciones toman acciones correctivas y no preventivas. ¿Qué es la Gerencia de Riesgos? Identificar los factores de riesgo que pueden afectar a nuestra empresa/ departamento, prevenirlos, retenerlos y/o transferirlos, y cuando sucedan siniestros causen el menor daño posible.

Identify existing risks and treats regarding the industrial security and the social security of our staff. (Guides, International Standards) Develop a matrix, a work plan, analyze previous plans.

Determine the risk impact in time, cost and quality.

Plan the risk, put in action the correct executables to prevent them.

Control and monitor every risk with the correspondent updates.

Identificar riesgos y amenazas existentes en cuanto a la seguridad industrial y seguridad social del personal. (Guías y estándares internacionales…)

Desarrollar una matriz, un plan de trabajo, realizar el análisis del plan anterior.

Determinar el impacto de los riesgos en tiempo, costo y calidad.

LACMA Next members must introduce and inform the directors about this with the purpose to take actions and be part of it if needed. I’m sure it is useful to remember this in our organizations and its fundamental for business administrations roles. All this goes along with a good implementation of an industrial security system, security culture and better practices, qualifications and risk evaluation.

“THE TITANIC LANDS IN MADRID” “EL TITANIC DESEMBARCA EN MADRID” La Vascongada recently collaborated in the transportation and dispatch to Madrid of the “Titanic” itinerant exposition that opens it doors this fall in the Fernan Gomez installations. Cultural Center of Villa Madrid, Spain.

This endearing experience, with a highly human and emotional impact, allows visitors to learn the truth story behind the ship and watch over 200 original objects (some of them never exposed), as well as recreations of the vessel’s interior.

Thus, passengers along the exposition can walk through a fist class hall or contemplate a third-class cabin.

Between the objects exposed you will find the original piece that inspire James Cameron to create the fiction jewel called: “Heart of the Ocean”, the original letters written by first official William Murdoch and old watches that stopped at the exact sink time.

Around 200.000 people are expected to visit the exposition until the end of March 2016 in Madrid.

La Vascongada ha colaborado recientemente en el transporte a Madrid y descarga de la exposición itinerante “Titanic” que abrió sus puertas este otoño en las instalaciones del Fernán Gómez. Centro Cultural de la Villa de Madrid, España.

Esta entrañable experiencia, con una alta carga humana y emocional, permitirá a los visitantes conocer la verdadera historia del buque y contemplar cerca de 200 objetos originales (algunos de ellos nunca antes expuestos), así como recreaciones de partes interiores del buque. De esta manera, los pasajeros de la muestra podrán

recorrer un pasillo de primera clase o contemplar un camarote de tercera clase.

Entre los objetos expuestos se encuentra la pieza original que inspiró a James Cameron para crear la joya de ficción denominada corazón de la mar, las cartas escritas por el primer oficial William Murdoch o relojes parados en la hora exacta del hundimiento.

Se espera que alrededor de 200.000 personas visiten la exposición hasta el mes de marzo de 2016 en Madrid.

Members of staff wore jeans to the office for the day and each donated £2. A total of £100 was raised for the charity Genetic Disorders UK. El evento fue realizado a beneficio de niños con problemas genéticos. Miembros del staff utilizaron jeans ese día e hicieron una donación de 2 euros cada uno. Un total de 100 euros fue lo recaudado y fue donado a la Asociación de Desordenes Genéticos de Reino Unido.

JOHN MASON INTERNATIONAL HOLDS A MARIE CURIE TEA PARTY The John Mason fundraising team recently held a Tea Party at the office in order to raise funds for the UK charity Marie Curie.

Vintage tea cups and saucers were used to serve tea, coffee, sandwiches and cakes to the staff at John Mason International’s head office. Staff were also asked to wear something yellow for the day.

A total of £200 was raised for the lunchtime offering.

Marie Curie is one of the charities which the company has decided to support this year. Marie Curie works to support and provide care for people with terminal illnesses and their families.

El equipo de recaudación de fondos de John Mason Internacional organizó una fiesta de té en la oficina para recaudar fondos para la Organización Benéfica Marie Curie. Tazas de té y platos de viejas épocas fueron utilizados para servir té, café, sandwiches y dulces al staff en la oficina principal de John Mason. También se les solicitó utilizar alguna prenda de color amarillo. Un total de 200 euros fueron recaudados por el almuerzo.

La Asociación Benéfica Marie Curie fue escogida por John Mason para brindarle su apoyo este año. Esta asociación trabaja para ayudar y proveer cuidados a los pacientes con enfermedades terminales y sus familiares.

HOLISTIC THERAPY ON OFFER FOR JOHN MASON INTERNATIONAL EMPLOYEES JOHN MASON OFRECE A SUS EMPLEADOS TERAPIA HOLÍSTICA Staff at John Mason International can take advantage of a new employee benefit aiming to reduce stress in the workplace and increase productivity. Holistic therapy is being offered on a weekly basis, available to all staff on a rota system.

The treatments last for 20 minutes each and participants can choose from Massage, Reiki or Indian Head Massage, massage being the most popular option.

The initiative started when a local government scheme offered a small grant towards health and well being for businesses in the area, the Knowsley Working Well programme. John Mason International used the grant towards a holistic therapist who visited twice a week during lunch breaks.

The programme was so popular and made a positive impact in the workplace that the company decided to fund the therapist’s visits for the rest of the year.

El staff de John Mason puede aprovechar el nuevo beneficio para empleados que reduce el estrés en el ambiente laboral e incrementa la productividad. La terapia holística se ofrece semanalmente, y está disponible en turnos rotativos.

El tratamiento dura 20 minutos y cada participante puede escoger entre masajes, reiki o masajes de cabeza estilo hindú, siendo los masajes la opción más popular.

La iniciativa comenzó cuando el gobierno local ofreció una pequeña donación para la salud y el bienestar de las empresas de la zona, conocido como el programa “Kwonsley Working Well”. John Mason Internacional utilizó la donación en una terapeuta holística que visitó la empresa dos veces por semana durante las horas de almuerzo.

El programa fue tan popular y tuvo un impacto tan positivo en el ambiente laboral que la compañía decidió financiar las visitas terapéuticas por el resto del año.

John Mason International’s Facilities Director, Steve Sheldon, celebrated 25 years with the company on Friday 7th August. Steve’s family were invited to join a celebratory lunch and presentation, which was held at John Mason International’s head office. Steve was presented with a 25 Years Service award and a gift from the company.

Steve Sheldon joined John Mason International in August 1990 as Manager of the company’s UK Division, bringing with him many years of experience in the removals industry.

La familia de Steve fue invitiada a unirse al almuerzo de celebración y presentación, que fue organizado en las oficinas principales de John Mason Internacional. Se le otorgó a Steve un reconocimiento por sus 25 años de trayectoria y un obsequio de parte de la compañía.

Steve Sheldon se unió a John Mason en Agosto de 1990 como Gerente de la division de Reino Unido, trayendo consigo muchos años de experiencia en el negocio de las mudanzas.
