JULY IS PARKS AND RECREATION MONTH Lacey Parks, Culture & Recreation will celebrate Park and Recreation Month this July as we welcome back our community with a month full of events such as our concerts and movies in the park, summer day camps, sports, and more! The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) encourages people that support parks and recreation to share their park and recreation story, as well as why their local park and recreation professionals are important to them, with the hashtag #OurParkAndRecStory. NRPA also encourages people to get creative by submitting an original poem about parks and recreation by July 9. Bestselling author Kwame Alexander will combine lines from your poems and create one community poem made up of our many voices that will be read online at the end of July and at the 2021 NRPA Annual Conference in September.

People EXERCISE MORE if they have access to PARKS and other safe outdoor places. Physical activity can reduce or prevent serious health problems. Lacey has 26 beautifully developed parks throughout the City for play and exercise. The City’s goal, per the 2017 Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Plan is to have a park or trail located within a .5 mile radius, or 10 minute walk, from every resident. Therefore, it is a high priority for the City to enhance and continue developing parks for the community so that all people have access.

REGIONAL AQUATIC CENTER FEASIBILITY SURVEY We are passing along an important survey regarding a regional aquatic facility center study.
