Los Alamos History Museum

Nestled in the heart of downtown, the Los Alamos History Museum presents the stories of Los Alamos from multiple perspectives via indoor and outdoor venues, historic buildings, artifacts, documents, photographs, audio and video recordings of personal stories, and interactive visitor experiences.

Self-Guided History Tours

Maps and guides available at the Visitor Centers and the Los Alamos History Museum

Historic Downtown Walking Tour

Learn about the buildings in the Los Alamos Historic District, as well as the people who lived in them.

Homestead Tour

This driving tour introduces you to seven sites that indicate where 17 of the homestead families established their farms.

Specially scheduled group tours of the historic district are available. Tour tickets include museum admission. Please book your tour at least two weeks in advance of your visit.

Guided Historic Walking Tours

Daily - Monday-Friday

Step inside the homestead-era Romero Cabin, visit an Ancestral Pueblo site, hear about the giants of 20th century physics who walked these streets, and learn how Bathtub Row got its name. Tickets include museum admission and are available at the Los Alamos History Museum Shop. Tours last approximately two hours.

Fuller Lodge Art Center

Nestled in the heart of downtown Los Alamos, this multi-faceted hub for art and artists in the community was formed in 1977. Located in the south wing of the historic Fuller Lodge, the Art Center, which is run by the Los Alamos Arts Council, embraces its history, but also looks forward to the future.

Bradbury Science Museum

Approximately 60 interactive exhibits trace the history of the WWII Manhattan Project, highlight LANL’s current and historic research projects related to defense and technology, and focus on laboratory research related to national and international economic, environmental, political, and social concerns.

Los Alamos Farmers Market

The basis for the Farmers Market is that every New Mexico family deserves access to fresh food, and farmers should be able to stay on their land, keep water and seeds in production, and preserve agricultural knowledge. Supporting local growers, ranchers and food producers preserves cultural identity and traditions, along with creating valuable community gathering places. It also keeps important food dollars circulating in our hometowns where it is needed most.

Purchase locally grown/raised foods, direct from the farmers. Picked or made fresh, you can find fruit, vegetables, baked goods, body products, honey, butter, ungraded eggs, apple cider, jams and jellies, organic seeds, locally raised meat, herbs and vegetable starts, and plants for the indoors and outdoors. 2023 All Schools Student Art Show

An annual Los Alamos County favorite! Just about everyone in Los Alamos Public School District goes to see this show featuring the ART of our LAPS students from 4 to 18-years-old. There will be an Opening Reception with entertainment and refreshments, event is free and open to the public.

27th Annual Los Alamos Photographers' Show

Hosted by the Los Alamos Photo Club, this annual exhibit always draws a crowd. The show highlights current photographic work of it's members including records of their world-wide travels, strange and familiar people, animals and flora, as well as sweeping land and skyscapes of New Mexico. Non-member entries are welcome as well.

Chasing Identity, by Harriette Tsosie, explores the roles of genetics, language and place in shaping identity. The works in this exhibition were created during decades of intense curiosity about ourselves as humans, as a people or tribe, at a time when -- because of DNA and the rise of internet ancestry programs -- it became possible to actually know where we came from and who our relatives are.

20th Annual Kite Festival

May 20

This year will be the 20th Annual Kite Festival celebration. Kite enthusiasts from all over the southwest fly their large, intricately shaped kites and hand-made flying works of art, demonstrate stunt-kite flying, and grace the fields with incredibly colorful banners. It will include food vendors, kite-making workshop that teaches kids about the history, cultural significance, and science of how kites fly. Come on down and "Let's go fly a kite!"
