At the Paris Fashion Week, the star stylist Alexander von Trentini translated the Off-White fashion for the upcoming autumn into hairstyles with an individual twist. Inspiration The fashion label Off-White is all about exploring the interfaces between streetwear, luxury, art and music. For its autumn–winter collection, Creative Director IB Kamara was inspired by the electrifying energy between Miles and Betty Davis to create looks that combine structure with fluidity and precision with sensuousness.

A STRONG TEAM The strength and self-confidence of the Off-White fashion are reflected in the hairstyles created by Alexander von Trentini and the Co-Head of Hair, Moiselle Virgine de Pinto Moreira, with a team of La Biosthétique stylists. The stylists particularly focused on not changing the models’ natural hair structures fundamentally, but instead using their existing dynamics to let them take centre stage.

Long Hair
The secret of wonderfully long hair lies in consistent care with Long Hair products and the right habits.

For her red carpet appearance at the 76th Berlinale, the German actress put her trust in “old Hollywood glamour” – and La Biosthétique.
Venice, Cannes, Berlin At the age of 76, the Berlinale is the youngest of the three major European film festivals, but its programme is just as impressive as that of its fellow events. This year, the jury chaired by Wim Wenders presented 22 competing films, including 20 world premieres, in the Berlinale Palast and affiliated cinemas in Berlin. A multitude of famous guests attended the event by the river Spree, with the red carpet hosting both international stars and their German colleagues.

Shining prospects We were lucky enough to accompany Aylin Tezel during her preparations for the opening evening of the event. German television fans probably best know her as Superintendent Nora Dalay in the Dortmund-based crime series “Tatort”, a role that she played for eight years. Since then, she has expanded her creative scope as an actress, screenwriter and director, for example with her own film drama, “Falling into Place”. This year, Aylin Tezel will be taking to the screen as the lead in a German television series and in an international series shown by Amazon UK.
The long bob with glossy shine reinterprets the iconic Hollywood glamour with a very modern approach. Here, Aylin Tezel is standing in her hotel room in close proximity to the Berlinale Palast. Dr Kristof, a dermatologist based in Switzerland, answers our questions on staying safe in the sun and treating skin damage. Dr Kristof, what happens to the skin in the sun? The sun has a multitude of different impacts on the skin. Short-wave UVB radiation penetrates the outer layers of skin and causes DNA damage, which strongly increases the risk of skin cancer. It also causes sunburn. UVB also, however, produces vitamin D in the skin, which is important for the bones, immune system and muscles. Longwave UVA rays penetrate deeper into the skin, where they damage elements such as collagen fibres, causing the aging process to progress faster. This radiation also indirectly increases the risk of skin cancer. The sun additionally tans our skin, which can be aesthetically appealing but is actually not good for the skin.

What sun protection measures do you recommend to avoid skin damage? I recommend that all of my patients use sun protection on a daily basis, even in the case of rain, snow and storms. In such whether, applying light sun protection in the morning is sufficient, and when the sun is shining, it’s important to use sun protection factor 50. Sun protection must be reapplied after sweating, swimming or drying off. You should also avoid the midday sun, above all in the summer. Beach visits or outdoor sports should take place in the morning or late afternoon. Textile sun protection is another important measure, namely wearing T-shirts with long sleeves and the highest possible necklines and preferably also wearing a hat, where possible with a wide brim. I also recommend avoiding direct sun exposure and looking for a place in the shade whenever possible. Can sun-induced skin damage be treated? In this case, you need to differentiate between acute and chronic skin damage. Acute damage such as sunburn can be treated with cooling, after-sun products and anti-inflammatory medication.

Chronic damage such as pigment spots and thread veins or premature skin aging caused by sun damage can be treated by dermatologists, for example using various lasers or peeling treatments. DNA damage, however, cannot be reversed and therefore represents a growing risk of skin cancer. I like to explain to my patients that our sun tolerance is like a container that collects rays of sunlight from birth. Once this container is full, precancerous skin conditions and skin cancer occur. Does sun protection prevent the formation of vitamin D? To put it bluntly, yes, sun protection can reduce vitamin D production. Nevertheless, to produce a sufficient amount of vitamin D, we actually only need to expose our face and underarms to the sun briefly for 5–15 minutes two to three times a week. A lack of vitamin D can, however, occur in the winter months or when spending too much time indoors, for example. Our vitamin level should be monitored from time to time. If it is too low, a person’s diet can be adapted or tablets can be used as a substitute. That said, consuming a suffi-

cient amount of vitamin D from food is difficult, which is why I recommend taking vitamin D supplements, especially in the winter. Finally, it is important to state that under no circumstances whatsoever should the use of sun protection be avoided in favour of vitamin D production!
