When hair becomes damaged, the cuticle is raised, exposing the cortex. The hair fiber loses much of its vital Keratin protein, along with other important nutrients. L’ANZA’s healing formulas replenish these nutrients and then it seals the cuticle, locking them in and protecting the hair.

KERATIN HEALING SYSTEM

The human body consists of 60% water thus, we need to replenish water back into our body during the day. The same is true with Keratin. Human hair is made up of 90% of Keratin Protein thus, it’s vital to replenish Keratin back into the hair to maintain optimal health. Hair loses Keratin over time, from harsh shampoos, chemical processing and as hair ages. L’ANZA’s Keratin Healing System renews hair’s strength, equalizes porosity and increases elasticity. It effectively replenishes Keratin Protein back into the hair to restore optimal health.

The Keratin found in human hair is comprised of 19 amino acids, which are the essential building blocks for strong, healthy hair. Without them, hair becomes weak, dull and lifeless. To properly heal the hair, L’ANZA replaces these amino acids to restore balance and strength. L’ANZA utilizes Hydrolyzed Keratin Amino Acids that contain the same 19 amino acids as those found in human hair. These amino acids have a small molecular weight of only 150 – 350 mw, making it easier to penetrate deep into the hair fiber.

NEXT GENERATION KERATIN PROTEIN

Not all Keratin is created equal! L’ANZA uses only the highest-quality, most potent Keratin available in all products. Next Generation Keratin has a higher affinity to hair’s own Keratin, so it interlinks to the hair better for improved strengthening. That also means it’s less prone to degradation compared to standard Keratin, commonly used by other haircare brands. L’ANZA is the only haircare company that uses an advanced hydrolyzation process to deliver more of Keratin’s active constituents. Next Generation Keratin yields the highest possible amount of pure Keratin, that can be verified on the Western Blot graph. The Western Blot is a widely used analytical test used in molecular biology to accurately detect specific proteins in a sample of extract.

MOISTURIZING PCAs

L’ANZA products contain an exclusive blend of mineral-fortified PCAs (Pyrrolidone Carboxylic Acid). Not only do these advanced ingredients improve structural integrity, they also help maintain hair’s moisture and replenish the necessary minerals lost during chemical processing. All PCAs are extraordinary humectants which reinforce the ability of the Keratin Healing System to attract and maintain moisture inside of the hair and dramatically improve elasticity.

• Sodium PCA: A hygroscopic ingredient that attracts moisture from the air. It is a stronger moisturizing agent than the traditional glycerin-based ingredients.

As technology has advanced, scientists have discovered new ways to make ingredients smaller – so small they have to be measured in nanometers. Some of the most important active ingredients in L’ANZA formulas are now smaller, thanks to our exclusive Nano Science 102 technology. These ingredients measure 100 nanometers (designated as 102 on our packaging). A smaller particle size allows important healing ingredients to penetrate deeper into hair’s cortex for utmost effectiveness, rather than accumulating on the surface to weigh hair down. UV PROTECTION

UV sun rays have long been recognized as damaging to the skin. But ultraviolet rays are also damaging to hair and a leading contributor to hair color fading. L’ANZA utilizes full-spectrum UV protectors to guard against damaging UV rays, ensuring maximum protection from sun damage and the fading of hair color. They are in each product to ensure full-range protection under varying ultraviolet intensities.

COLOR PROTECTING FORMULAS

L’ANZA’s exclusive healing formulas are not only color-safe, they also help to maintain hair color longer by healing damaged fibers. Hair that is damaged is porous, allowing color pigments to escape outward from inside the hair fiber. When hair is properly healed and sealed, color pigments remain contained within the fiber to provide longer-lasting hair color.

SULFATE-FREE & SODIUM CHLORIDE-FREE SHAMPOOS

All shampoos contain surfactants, which supply cleansing action and lathering properties. “Surfactant” is an abbreviation for “surface-active agents” because they help break the surface tension of water, allowing it to better remove oils and debris from the hair. Surfactants are divided into two types: Sulfate and Sulfate-Free.

SULFATE SURFACTANTS

In the early part of the 20th century, sulfate-based surfactants emerged as new types of cleansers. Lauryl Alcohol, isolated from coconut fat and palm kernel oil, was used to make the first sulfate surfactant: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. Sulfate surfactants are widely used in shampoos because they are strong cleansers and lather well.

SULFATE-FREE SURFACTANTS

There are also surfactants that are not sulfate-based, but just as effective at gently cleansing the hair. These sulfate-free blends are milder and have been proven to extend the life of hair color. L’ANZA technology has allowed us to develop blends of non-sulfate surfactants that provide a rich lather in our sulfate-free shampoos.

NATURE’S SURFACTANT | POLYNESIAN GUGO BARK

Gugo Bark has been used by native Polynesians for centuries as a natural surfactant to gently refresh and purify hair. The bark’s extract produces abundant lather that lifts away impurities without removing vital oils or nutrients from the hair. To provide gentle cleansing and abundant lather, L’ANZA uses Gugo Bark in all Advanced Healing Shampoos.

SODIUM CHLORIDE-FREE SHAMPOOS

Sodium Chloride, also known as salt, has long been used in shampoos as a thickening agent. However, many smoothing systems recommend their clients not use shampoos that contain Sodium Chloride because it can interfere with the chemicals that smooth the hair. For this reason, L’ANZA has formulated our Advanced Healing Shampoos without Sodium Chloride. Our shampoos are safe and effective to use with smoothing systems.

HIGH TEMPERATURE THERMAL PROTECTION

L’ANZA products provide an extra measure of thermal protection. Our exclusive healing formulas protect hair from the most intense heat. Healing action seals the hair to provide an effective shield from thermal trauma. Heat is less likely to penetrate deep into the hair cortex of a healed hair fiber to cause structural damage.

To further protect the hair from heat damage, L’ANZA products contain Cactus Flower extract. The Cactus Plant not only survives but thrives in the hottest conditions. The plant produces Adaptogens that help protect from extreme heat. These Adaptogens provide an extra measure of thermal protection in L’ANZA products, protecting hair from intense heat much in the same way the plant protects itself from hot environmental conditions.

Humidity is atmospheric moisture comprising of fine particles of water droplets suspended in the air. The problem with humidity is that it causes frizz. Even slightly porous hair absorbs atmospheric moisture, much like a sponge absorbing water. When this happens, the hair fibers swell and enlarge, the cuticles are pushed outward and the result is unwanted frizz.

The key to preventing frizz is to reduce porosity and seal out atmospheric moisture. That’s exactly what L’ANZA products do. Bond-Building Actives is L’ANZA’s proprietary compound that works in three ways to rebuild, reinforce & protect hair bonds. The result is significantly stronger hair. Prep hair by using Keratin Healing Oil Shampoo & Conditioner. Then apply Reconstructor to towel dried hair. For severely damaged hair leave it in the for 2-3 minutes & rinse. For thick, coarse, or critically damaged hair, leave product in & do not rinse out.

• Use as a take-home Rx treatment after salon-administered Keratin Healing Oil Emergency Services.

• Use as an effective leave-in overnight hair strengthening treatment.

THERMAL THERAPY (PART A)

Self-Assembling Peptides compose a scaffold, which creates a framework within damaged hair tissue. Heat provides the energy necessary to activate the scaffold formation throughout the hair. Once the scaffold has been built, the final healing components in Cream Cure (Part B) have a platform where they can organize & attach.

CREAM CURE (PART B)

Comprised of curative components that include Next Generation Keratin & Phyto IV Complex. These healing materials attach to the scaffold constructed by Part A. By rebuilding its anatomy, hair is restored back to the strength, integrity and resiliency of optimal health.

STEP 1 - To prepare hair, use KERATIN HEALING OIL SHAMPOO, or appropriate L’ANZA Shampoo. Rinse thoroughly. Gently towel-blot excess water. Apply THERMAL THERAPY (PART A) into hair and distribute thoroughly. Cover hair with plastic cap. Place hair under heat source with medium heat for 10 minutes. Rinse hair with tepid water. Gently towel-blot excess water. At this point, the hair will have a strong, firm feel. Do not comb hair until after you have applied CREAM CURE (PART B) in the next step.

STEP 2 - CREAM CURE (PART B): Apply throughout damp, towel-blotted hair. Comb through. Leave in. Blow dry or allow to air dry. Finish by using thermal tools and L’ANZA styling products.

Q - WHEN NOT TO USE?

A - L’ANZA does not recommend using EMERGENCY SERVICE prior to any chemical service. To prepare hair prior to color, perm & straightening services, use L’ANZA ULTIMATE TREATMENT, TRAUMA TREATMENT or other appropriate L’ANZA treatment. Do not use EMERGENCY SERVICE during or after a perm service.

Q - HOW OFTEN DO I USE IT?

A - EMERGENCY SERVICE is the most advanced & potent hair healing system available. Depending on the severity of hair damage,

multiple EMERGENCY SERVICE treatments may be necessary to completely restore hair’s health. EMERGENCY SERVICE can be used every 48 hours until hair’s optimal health is restored.

Q - WHY IS APPLYING HEAT NECESSARY?

A - Applying medium heat for the full 10 minutes as instructed allows EMERGENCY SERVICE’s heat-activated peptides to form 3-D scaffolds and achieve maximum healing effectiveness. It is not necessary to leave hair under heat longer than 10 minutes.

Q - CAN I MIX EMERGENCY SERVICE WITH OTHER PRODUCTS?

A - EMERGENCY SERVICE has been especially engineered as a dual-phase healing system. Use Thermal Therapy (Part A) & Cream Cure (Part B) together as directed.
