THE COASTAL MUSEUM OF BANGSBO is situated in the beautiful manor of Bangsbo. The manor dates back to 1364 and it lies in the heart of the idyllic Bangsbo area. The primary exhibition at the manor shows the life around 1900 when the manor was owned bye the bon vivant Johan Knudsen.

They formed a cultural and festive fellowshaip called the Circle of Bangsbo. So when you visit Bangsbo you can walk in the foot steps of the writer Herman Bang and get a fascinating glimpse of the colorful life at the manor.
In the building opposite the manor house you will find an exhibition about the German occupation in Denmark and Northern Jutland. There is also collection that exhibits seafaring from the middle ages up until today. The crown jewel is a unique ship from 1163: Ellingåskibet.

THE COASTAL MUSEUM OF SÆBY (Saeby) is located in the historical half-timbered building ”Consul Ørum’s Farm”. The Farm originates from the 17th century but it achieved its current appearance around 1800. The exhibition at the Coastal Museum give an introduction to the historical development of the charming borough, where you will still find several historical buildings that originates from the middle ages.
During the middle ages the borough of Sæby was influenced by the Carmelite Order, who established a local convent around 1460 (today the church of Sæby). The museum has an exhibition with a virtual introduction to the fascinating history behind the church of Sæby and its unique frescos.
The Coastal Life of Sæby is another theme that is unfolded at the museum. The Stream of Sæby was the only natural harbour in the region until 1879, and the stream gave prosperity to a wide range of craftsmen and local businesses. This prosperity and development continued with the finding of a local Iron Well around 1883. Also, feel free to visit the museum’s old Country Store with selected specialty and nostalgic items.
