DESIGN STATEMENT

To create an interactive space for a stained glass artist that can help uplift his ideas and mood, and to let individuals understand more about Singapore’s heritage through the artist’s expertise. The semi-shared area is used for interaction and showcasing to the public through the form of open exhibitions and exposed workshops. Intimate spaces such as a personal studio, bedroom and balcony are only accessible by the artist for working, living and playing. Using structural and colour contrast, asymmetry and harmony accentuates the reinvigorating expression that is being conveyed within the structure.

TO REPRESENT STABILITY, FRAGMENTATION, ASYMMETRY AND CONTRAST

CLIENT – STAINED GLASS ARTIST
I chose a stained glass artist as my client as stained glass art is not widely known and focused in Singapore. As this artform is being introduced to the CBD area, it would create a sense of contrast to the place. It would be a form of attraction to the public, helping to revitalize the area.
