GENERAL ISSUE STATEMENT

Since there is a rise in mental and physical health issues in Singapore ever since the pandemic occured, many have been finding ways to improve their well-being. Age groups ranging from children to the Elderly, have been greatly affected by this. Feeling anxious, isolated and lonely during these difficult times is challenging to deal with, as it is a collective feeling that everybody is struggling with.

Considering the post-pandemic situation in the future, people who have been feeling isolated for a very long time might have difficulties adapting to engagements and new social settings.

Singapore has a resilient population, but everyone must realise that having resilience is not an individual responsibility.

HYPOTHESIS STATEMENT Since there is a rise in mental and physical issues during the pandemic, and eventually continuing to post-pandemic, a community-driven wellness hub is proposed to readapt in 179 Piccadilly where it is strategically located in the center of Seletar Aerospace Park. Taking advantage of the tranquil environment, and considering that it has been a go-to area for multiple active users, this hub would be a place where people can realise and enjoy the importance of active lifestyle and well-being together with many others.

To create a sensorial community-driven hub that would advocate the importance of active lifestyle and well-being to the public, taking advantage of the tranquil environment at 179 Piccadilly. The hub would revitalise, influence and connect people through recharging and escapism, while tackling the issues of isolation and wellness.

Having users to trigger their senses makes a more imaginative and meaningful environment In order to elevate multiple sensorial experiences using juxtaposition, spaces can be arranged in a way where they can compliment each other or stand out according to the specific output of senses

Virtual Garden Exhibition An indoor virtual area that gets activated by motion sensors. Using an interactive and immersive aspect to this space, it could attract more people to the space

An area to share common interests with others, meet new people and engage with others.

Allow visitors to enjoy a wide variety of sensory experiences and give a sense of restoration from stress and problems

Activity Zone 01: Crystal Singing Bowl An intimate activity where people experience sound therapy. This helps with being more aware of one’s thoughts and change negative thinking patterns

Activity Zone 02: Clay-making Suitable for all ages, clay-making is a hands-on activity which inspires people to be creative.

People would be able to plant seeds into their pots and contribute to the healing garden
