Girl Scouts is a secular organization, but the motivating force in Girl Scouting is a spiritual one. We encourage girls from all backgrounds to take spiritual journeys via their faith's religious recognitions.
All in good faith; Girl Scouts have many opportunities to serve their communities and show their kind hearts to others. Though Girl Scouts is not associated with any specific religion or spirituality, we encourage girls to explore different faiths during their time in Girl Scouting. Kindergarten through 12th graders are invited to explore the My Promise, My Faith pin independently or through one of our council-sponsored events.
To work on this activity independently, you can find a GSUSA handout HERE.
Whether you are a new or seasoned volunteer, you can now take your Girl Scout learning experience wherever you are with gsLearn. gsLearn is home to trainings you can take at your own pace and on your own schedule.
New leaders will learn the basics of Girl Scouting. You will also find trainings on topics related to service unit teams, recruitment, and more. Watch for more trainings to be added throughout the year.

Traveling can be challenging or scary if you haven’t been a lot of places before. Luckily, as Girl Scouts, we’re all a part of a huge Girl Scout sisterhood; and that sisterhood is full of awesome volunteers and women who have a ton of travel experience! We at GSKWR encourage every girl to begin traveling when she is ready, and to treat travel as a progression. From day trips, to overnights, to traveling to other states or even internationally, Girl Scouts has a travel program for you to explore.
Girls can travel both locally and all over the world! For local Girl Scout travel guidelines, please reference our Guide to Girl Scout Troop Trips found on the council website under Forms. Looking to go a bit further? How about a Girl Scout Getaway or Girl Scout Destination Trip?
Let’s gather together as one of GSKWR’s older girls moderates a virtual conversation with an Unstoppable Woman.
Monthly 4:00PM-5:00PM
Unstoppable Women conversations showcase a wide variety of topics of interest to women of all ages. To help engage and connect Girl Scouts to the Unstoppable Women program, conversation topics will be tied to badges and journeys for each grade level. View the Unstoppable Women conversations below to get more information about programming opportunities.
Do you know an older Girl Scout that would be a wonderful moderator for an upcoming conversation? Send recommendations to Katie Mauldin at kmauldin@gswrc.org.

Stand BesideHer is a rallying cry encouraging girls and women to stand up for each other and commit to ending that unhealthy comparison and competition that tears us down and divides. By celebrating each other's talents and successes, we all rise - one courageous, confident girl and woman at a time.
Monday, April 29th, 2024
5:30PM -
6:30PM
Starting in childhood, girls are inundated with negative messages and behaviors that prevent them from building healthy relationships and ideals about their potential. Girls keep these unhealthy ideals and relationships as they mature into women.
The competition and comparison formed on the playground and in the classroom carries over to the boardroom and in the home preventing women from reaching their fullest potential.
Join GSKWR as we celebrate the Stand Beside Her Movement by hearing from a panel of community trailblazers about the importance of supporting strong girls and women.

Prove you’ve got what it takes to build a better today and tomorrow. You shine brightest when you’re making the world a better place. That’s why you can earn three separate awards—the Girl Scouts Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards as you dream of a better tomorrow and take action in big ways today.
Juniors earn the Bronze Award by teaming up with other Girl Scouts to make a difference in their towns.
Cadettes earn the Silver Award by researching an issue, making a plan to address it, and then taking action to improve their communities.
Seniors and Ambassadors earn the Gold Award—the highest award in Girl Scouting by developing and carrying out lasting solutions to issues in their neighborhoods and beyond.
Each year, more than 50,000 Girl Scouts earned the Gold, Silver, or Bronze Awards, investing more than one million hours into making the world a better place. Be a part of the next 50,000!
Let us help! Take advantage of our virtual office hours at your convenience. Highest Awards virtual office hours are a unique opportunity for girls, parents/guardians, troop leaders and project advisors to get assistance. "Drop-in" to ask questions, brainstorm, or receive clarification. Drop-in office hours are available monthly for 90-minutes.

Both Girl Scout alums and other women perceive the Gold Award as a prestigious and powerful recognition. Additionally, while being a Girl Scout alum is linked to more positive life outcomes compared to other women, earning the Gold Award has even greater benefits. When compared to alums and other women, Gold Award Girl Scout alums are more likely to:
Exhibit courage, confidence, and character
Attain a college or graduate degree
Volunteer or donate to causes they support
Hold three or more leadership roles
Be satisfied with life personally, professionally,
Gold Award Girl Scout alums report that the Gold Award process helped them develop essential twenty-first-century employment skills, giving them a boost in their academic and professional lives. They also affirm that the Gold Award helped them get into college or graduate programs, earn scholarships, and secure jobs.
We honored 9 exceptional young women who earned their Gold Award on March 4, 2023 at Berea College. These Gold Award Girl Scouts provided more than 720 hours of service through the development and execution of projects of sustainable impact. Each of these projects, while varied in scope, addressed a need, provided support, found solutions, and inspired communities. Congratulations to our Gold Award Girl Scouts!
The Girl Scouts of the USA Gold Award Scholarship program recognizes the outstanding achievement of, and provides financial support to, one Gold Award Girl Scout per council. Scholarship recipients have completed Gold Award projects that reflect extraordinary leadership and measurable, sustainable impact, and that address an issue of national and/or global significance.
Her outstanding Gold Award project, “Ending the Sexual Assault Kit Backlog,” demonstrates measurable and sustainable impact and addresses an issue of national significance, proving that Girl Scouts of courage, confidence, and character truly do make the world a better place. Her accomplishments will endure for generations to come and serve as a powerful example of Girl Scouting in action.
The Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards are the highest and most prestigious Girl Scout awards and are the culmination of the Girl Scout Leadership experience. Girl Scouts of Kentucky's Wilderness Road holds annual Award Ceremonies to honor Girl Scouts who have taken the steps to earn the Highest Award for their age level. We hope you will join us in celebrating the amazing young women who have dedicated themselves to making the world a better place.

Patch programs provide Girl Scouts an opportunity to enjoy a variety of activities while learning important skills. Completing patch programs will help your Girls along their Journey and may satisfy requirements for certain badges. Find more patch earning opportunities at www.gskentucky.org.
Date: March 10-16, 2024
National Girl Scout Week is celebrated each year in March around the birthday of Girl Scouts on March 12.
Faith is at the heart of Girl Scouting and has been integral to the Girl Scout tradition since our founding in 1912. During Girl Scout Week, take some time to reflect on your beliefs and how they tie into the Girl Scout Law.
The Girl Scout Birthday Week Patch Program is a great way to observe the significance of Girl Scout Week, Girl Scout traditions and demonstrate pride in being a member of the world’s largest organization for girls. The variety of activities will encourage all Girl Scouts, no matter their interest or age to participate in this patch program.
Do you love the outdoors and want to learn more about nature and learn some skills that are used in the out-of-doors? A naturalist has lots of different skills. They know how to take care of themselves in the outdoors and they know a little about zoology, biology, ecology, and botany.
In this first of the Naturalist series, we’ll explore hiking which covers taking care of yourself in the outdoors. There are activities, games, and information to help you Discover more about the outdoors, Connect with the outdoors, and Take Action to help improve the outdoors or to help others learn about the outdoors.
Read Ready Kentucky is a nonprofit organization that's goal is to equip students with the power to change the world through reading with every child and adult - one page at a time! This patch program was developed by Hannah Edelen, Miss Kentucky, to share with Girl Scouts across the state.
Celebrate the life of our founder, Juliette Gordon Low, with the Year in the Life of Juliette Patch program. Every month will bring a challenge, with a new patch, that focuses on the important work that Juliette did, and the values that she encouraged in Girl Scouting There are no specific requirements for the center patch
Each month has a different topic relating to something that was important to Juliette Gordon Low. Each month’s patch can be displayed around the center patch, and if girls complete all 12 programs, they will have a complete series. Girls can choose to earn all 12 patches in one year, or over a series of years.
