IN THE NEWS

JEFF JONES

Keller Williams Broker

Jeff Jones is a graduate of Duke University. With several local attorneys, Broker Jeff is instrumental in writing and updating all the real estate contracts used in the Naples and Marco Island area. He is a past president and long-time board member of the Naples Area Board of Realtors. He has been a Florida Broker and Realtor since 2007.

The SW Florida real estate market remains quite stable with prices holding firm and showing no signs of any significant downturn. This is largely due to a significant lack of supply with average months of supply still averaging 3-4 months which continues to favor a seller’s market. However, the average days on the market has increased steadily as a result of more choices for Buyers being added to the market.

The Market for Marco Island and surrounding areas has improved steadily over the past few months resulting in an

increase in Closed Sales, New Listings, and Pending Sales over the same period in 2022. The Marco Island single family home market has begun to rebound with improved sales and lower inventory levels now that the rental regulation statute passed last summer will not take effect as originally planned.

Our Market is significantly neighborhood dependent and thus using a Realtor® familiar with local conditions is essential to listing or buying your Home with the best possible value and results!

REMEMBERING 9/11

September 11, 2001 is a day in our history we will never forget. As tragic as the events of that day were, our country came together as one to aid and support each other in a way that hadn’t been seen in decades. Twenty two years later, the City of Marco Island continues to remember this day in a ceremony honoring those who gave all...

At 9:00am at the new fire station, 20 Keller Williams agents joined a crowd of about 200 to witness a very moving ceremony led by Police Chief Tracy Frazzano. Pastor Scott Kerens of the Marco Presbyterian Church offered a moving invocation prior to the Marco Island Police Color Guard presented our flag. At this point, emotions began to sweep through the crowd, as eight First Responders who all served on that fateful day 22 years ago were called to the podium to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Fire Chief Chris Byrnes spoke of

THE FOUR FIVES’S

the importance of a ringing bell at a fire department... traditionally a ringing bell is a signal to report to the station for duty, the changing of shifts, signaled a call for help –even indicating a call was completed and the unit returned to the station... Departments also sounded a series of bells when a firefighter died in the line of duty to alert all members that a comrade had made the ultimate sacrifice. One of the most meaningful series of bells is commonly called “ Striking the Four Fives”. The fire service is rich with ceremony, custom, and tradition. The custom of rendering final honors has its origins in the fire department of the City of New York, where many years ago, long before the advent of radios or pagers, fire alarms and daily announcements were dispatched from central headquarters to outlying firehouses by a system of bell commands and t elegraph. Each different type of alarm or announcement would have its own

number and series of bell strikes. When a firefighter died in the line of duty or when some important official or personage died, headquarters would transmit five bell strikes, repeated in four series, with a slight pause between each series, followed by the announcement. This was done as long ago as 1865 in the New York City Fire Department to inform the rank and file of the death of President Abraham Lincoln. The custom has continued down to the present day.*

The ceremony concluded with Julie Byrnes playing a heart - felt Amazing Grace on violin with the attendees honoring the fallen in their own way. It was an honor to be able to attend this ceremony and witness firsthand our community’s love and respect for those in public service.
