Welcome to the 4th Annual Prairie Lands Bull Sale!

This past year has been a monumental year with very strong market prices, it is an exciting time to be in the cattle business! With the hopes of a wet spring, we are optimistic that we are in store for a great year going forward. The heart of our consignor group is based upon raising cattle that will perform in a multitude of versatile herds across North America while being adaptive to different environments. The cattle on offer come from herds across British Columbia and Alberta where genetic progression is the main focus and is achieved by utilizing some of the best genetics in the Simmental industry. The Prairie Lands Consignor group is made up of the most humble well experienced breeders in the industry as well as some of the upcoming breeders who are bound to make an impact on the industry.

We are very excited to welcome Eureka Valley Charolais into the bull sale and look forward to this partnership going forward. Charolais cattle have been demanding a premium at the auction marts with their overall performance and carcass qualities, a breed that is making a lasting positive impact on the cattle industry. We

feel the Simmental and Charolais breeds are very complimentary of one another and through our sale, we hope to meet the needs of our buyers in one place.

This year’s offering is one of the biggest we have put together and one of the most exciting offerings! Our philosophy has always been quality over quantity and each consignor needs to be commended for stepping up and bring their best to town. This past year has been a very difficult one with widespread drought conditions and it is a blessing that we can still come together and celebrate our accomplishments as an industry. On offer this year will be yearling and 2-year-old bulls and replacement heifers. We are a great group of people selling cattle to even greater people! 33L is the first Virginia Vice Versa 540J son on offer and all I have to say is…wow wow wow! This larger framed bull is incredibly soggy with tons of hip, rib and loin. He is the true definition of butts, guts and nuts. The day 33L hit the ground, I knew he was something special and he hasn’t slowed down since.

33L is very characteristic of the Vice Versa progeny with muscle that’d put Arnold Schwarzenegger to shame. Vice Versa was able to provide phenomenal performance with great calving ease; having been successfully used on heifers. 33L’s dam, SKY Jessie’s Girl 51C, is a beautiful front pasture female hailing from one of my best cow families, the Jessie cow family. Udders and milking abilities are very important around here and at 9yrs old, 51C still has the most perfect udder set with fantastic milk, contributing to 33L’s WW of 957lbs (ADG 3.5 lbs/day). 33L will raise some very desirable steers and heifers that are destined for the keeper pen…make sure you take a long look at him come sale day!

This bull is hard to fault and is a true stand out, laying down an incredible amount of natural muscling. He is nickname is “bubble butt” for good reasons with his very round rump. Paired with a round barrel with above average spring of rib and width of topline, he is a true standout. His dam, SKY Fleck of Gold 84F, is quite honestly one of my favorite cows. She is an incredible workhorse that never misses a beat having two calves in 354 days. 84F is incredibly stylish with tons of femineity, power, great feet, bone structure and a second to none udder set with excellent milking abilities; all characteristics of the Jessie cow family. 39L is very characteristic of the Vice Versa progeny and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. 39L pairs a nice twist of calving ease and performance into a nice tidy package that will pay for himself many times over!! In fact, 33L and 318L’s dam are maternal sisters. I cannot say enough great things about this cow family. 318L has been a standout since birth and has truly impressed me with each day. He is about as long spined as it gets, possesses the incredible muscling seen in all Vice Versa progeny while being built right. Smooth in the shoulder, paired with the long spine will add ample calving ease while still not giving up the vigorous growth in his offspring. Prepared to have your minds blown on weaning weights with his calves as his own WW of 802lbs (ADG 3.3lbs/day) with ZERO creep feed is rather impressive. Hanson is the easy leader of our Full Fleckvieh 2-year-old bulls on offer this season. Right from birth he’s been easy going and an eye catcher earning him the nickname Handsome Hanson! He’s polled, smooth in the front end, soggy made, with big strong hips. From an outstanding Swantewitt dam, she’s moderate framed with a great udder. Polled. Homo Black. This black baldy is moderate framed with a wide top and outstanding muscle expression. He may not have the performance numbers some of the other bulls offered here have but that’s likely due to him having been raised by a 1st calver. His dam is definitely our favorite black cow. She’s already built like a tank at 3, she’s huge middled has a perfect udder and a sweet disposition all on a moderate frame. Leroy would be a good choice if you’re looking for a heifer bull that offers more value than just an easy first calving. He’ll likely pass on his white face, thickness and shape to his calves while offering adequate performance and also produce some good replacements, all while remaining the right size to work in your heifer pen or on young cows for a few years. He was the top simmental bull for feed conversion

Here is a bull that packs a punch! Maui is moderate framed, wide topped, with loads of length and muscle. He’s proven himself to be a calving ease bull, and the majority of his progeny have inherited his stylish white blaze.

We’d love to continue to put him to use, but our herd is small and we’ve kept a number of his daughters already. We’re confident he’d be a great addition to any herd!

A March 1st bull out of a 10-year-old cow that came home weighing 877 and had a January weight of 1211. Just a bull that keeps growing and getting better as the winter starts to finish and we are gearing up for spring.

Oct. 12/23 WW - 732 lbs. OLDS COLLEGE TEST start weight Oct.31/23 - 768 lbs. End test weight Dec. 20/23 - 918 lbs. 150 lbs. gain on 50 days of test = 3 lbs/day gain

This is a heifer going back to our KLR CAMEO 86C cow who never misses. Her daughter KLR MISS BAMBAM 142G who we had very high hopes for the dam of Kandy we lost this winter to an  accident and we lost her and her calf she was carrying. We have another heifer out of MISS BAMBAM 142G who just calved this year and gave us a beauty of a heifer calf. This will be the first heifer going back to KLR CAMEO 86C to sell. We love Kandy’s sire CROSSROADS CHARGER 131X whose pedigree is stacked with some great bloodlines top and bottom. So check this heifer out, she is well built and will make a great momma cow.
