Welcome to the 3rd Annual Prairie Lands Bull Sale!

The enthusiasm in the cattle industry and strong cattle prices have us excited to offer another fantastic set of bulls and females! The heart of our consignor group is based upon raising cattle that will perform in a multitude of versatile herds across North America while being adaptive to different environments. The cattle on offer come from herds across British Columbia and Alberta where genetic progression is the main focus and is achieved by utilizing some of the best genetics in the Simmental industry. The Prairie Lands Consignor group is made up of many wellestablished breeders who have decades of experience as well as up and coming breeders who are taking the cattle industry by storm.

This year’s offering is one of the best that has ever been put together and one we are extremely proud of. You can buy with confidence come sale day! There is no doubt that the last few years in the cattle industry have been incredibly tough but as resilient people do, we keep on “keeping on”. The livestock industry is a community, and we are proud to be apart of it. The strong livestock prices experience this fall and now this spring across the prairies is providing lots of well deserved hope. As we’ve mentioned before, our cattle are raised on the prairie and mainly sold across the prairies which is where our sale name originated. On offer this year will be yearling and 2-year-old bulls, replacement heifers and we are very excited to offer a herd-reduction section from Coyote Ridge. All bulls of 12 month of age and older will be semen tested, palpated and scrotal measurement taken by an accredited veterinarian. Information will be available sale day.

All bulls returning to seller’s farm MUST be insured. Bulls can be kept at our farms at no cost up until April 30, 2023; after that $5.00/day will be charged for feed costs. Delivery will be arranged as soon as it’s mutually agreed upon by the seller and purchaser. Bulls will be delivered free of charge within 200km of Innisfail. Delivery beyond will be arranged at cost.

Full Fleckvieh Jerico has easily been a standout since birth. His is one of those soggy type bulls that is full of ample muscling, tons of spring of rib, docility and eye appeal while being moderate framed. He is very clean up through the head and shoulders making him a great calving ease option. A son of Component (JNR’s Titanium), this bull’s pedigree is loaded with calving ease and maternal ability; he is destined to sire some fantastic calves. Jerico’s dam is a moderate frame broody cow that has it all: great feet, fantastic udder, great length of spine and hip while still being feminine. Looking to Jerico’s EPD’s, he is in the top 25% for milk and 30% for maternal calving ease. As with many of the Component progeny, he is a great calving ease option that doesn’t give up on the performance come weaning. Make sure to have him marked down come sale day!

¾ Simmental. ¼ Gelbvieh. What a looker! This bull has been one of my favorites to watch develop. He is like a cat on the move, is extremely deep with tons of hip and spring of rib! He is smooth through the head and shoulder, giving him more calving ease. His dam, SKY Jessie’s Girl 51C, is easiest the fanciest, most feminine cow in the herd. She is one you want a full herd of and one I find very little faults with. If you want to build better udders and maternal abilities, this is the one for you! 112J is a cow bull that doesn’t give up on the calving ease coming from Component and Titanium. One of the quietest bulls in the pen, he is very hard to miss as he loves his scratches! His dark red hair coat, extreme muscling, round rump, spring of rib and clean front end have made him many friends over time. His dam, BEE Branda 951G, is a moderate framed, deep powerhouse cow; weaning all 869lbs of pure bull power (ADG of 3.11 lbs/day). Full Fleckvieh Where does one start on such an awesome bull!? Hawkeye is the package deal, he really does have it all! Since the day he was born, we knew he was going to be something special and he continues to exceed all expectations. His natural muscling ability and thickness are unmatched paired with his length of spine, he will produce some pretty fancy females and bulls! His docility and little extra chrome make him pretty hard to miss for all the right reasons! If you were to ask me who my favorite cow is, it would be Hawkeye’s dam with her perfect udder, depth of body and power…I wish I had a hundred of her! Weaning off Hawkeye at 939lbs (ADG of 3.33 lbs/day) she did a whale of a job! With the likes of Benz and Blueprint in his pedigree, he is bred for calving ease without having to give up on performance; or as I like to call it, a middle of the road bull that will be versatile in many different breeding operations. Coming from the Jessie cow family, one of my best cow families; he is sure to sire calves with tons of capacity, milking and maternal abilities with highly desirable carcass traits. This bull has tons of style from his very round hip, width in the loin traveling up his long spine into a very clean front end and polled head. 204K also has tons of capacity, spring of rib and great structure. Hailing from the heart of the Skylark herd, his dam is a bigger framed fancy female that hits it out of the park each year! Fleckvieh Fullblood Riptide, or Rip as he is affectionately known around here, is one heck of a powerhouse! For a moderate framed bull, he is a ripper, no pun intended! This bull packs a ton of muscle, capacity, depth, style into one very attractive polled package. Rip is one of the quietest bulls in the pen and it has been an absolute pleasure watching him develop. His dam, Anchor D Heddie 189H, a first calf heifer very impressively weaned him at 818lbs (ADG of 3.03 lbs/day)! Heddie is a front pasture female with her perfect udder and teat placement, milking ability; and high end capacity and style! Full Fleckvieh Last but certainly not least is a very stylish Component son that has made many friends since the day he was born! His sheer growth, natural muscling ability, thickness and overall capacity make him very hard to miss. Sired by Component (JNR’s Titanium) and with a birth weight of 90lbs, he very well could be a candidate for the heifer pen. The Component progeny come small but grow incredibly fast which I have no doubt Wheeler will breed the same way. With a weaning weight of 834lbs (ADG of 3.29lbs), he can also be utilized in the cow pen without giving up on performance while still keeping the calving ease. Between his dam’s fantastic udder placement and milking abilities coupled with the maternal traits from Component, he is a maternal powerhouse in the making and can be used with confidence! We purchased Kramer at the 2021 Southern Roundup from Terry and Marty Vernon. Unfortunately for Kramer when he got home to us last spring, we were pretty heavy on bull power so we didn’t get to use him much, in fact he only got two cows to breed. Since we are still long on bulls in the pen we decided to consign a good one , and this long spined two year old is the guy we chose to share with the industry. His pedigree is stacked with greats, his calves come unassisted, he’s long as freight train and with a great temperament. I think this 2 year old has a lot to offer and will breed a lot of cows.

5K is one heck of a bull. Currently at the Olds College RFI test he is the top average daily gaining bull of all breeds. He is out of a beautiful fleckvieh first calver we purchased from Sandy Hill Simmentals that did an awesome job on him. His sire Circle G Heat Wave owned by Lewis Farms and Michael Maronda is averaging 79 lbs on his progeny’s birthweights. 5K has a nice hip, good muscle expression, smooth shoulders, narrow skull and good depth. He’s a great bull that’s quiet and super easy to work with and I think he’ll calve easy and produced stout well-muscled calves.

Edsel is from one of our taller, larger framed cows. We love these JNR Conan calves and he is no exception. Finnigen’s dam quickly became one of our favourites on the farm, always anxious for a handful of treats and a scratch behind the ear. She’s of medium frame with an excellent udder and is a great milk producer. Finnigen is her third consecutive bull. Here is a 3/4 Fleckvieh bull whose dam is high percent fleck. He is a twin out of the FGAF GUERRERO 810Y. This bull was our very first purebred calf. He is tough as nails, born in -35C blizzard. He is a little shy, but has a great personality. He is thick, long & great colors. The dark cherry red colors & amazing face colors. Born on 02-01-2022. He has been down at Olds College on the high-performance testing program. He has done awesome down there! This is our youngest bull we are offering, Born on 06-04-2022. He is my wife’s baby, he hears her coming & starts calling for her. He loves to cuddle & rub up against you. We will be sad to see him go, but he will make anyone happy with his demeanor. He is a little bit lighter coloring than the rest of the bulls, but still takes your breath away. This is our first year selling Purebred bulls, cows & heifers. We have bought the cows from a good line of purebreds that most people know, Spruceburn. We are very excited meeting & getting to know the fantastic group of Simmental people that we have talked to already. With me working overseas & only home less than half the year, we have decided to downsize our Purebred & Commercial herds. My wife, Kim & kids, Josh, Jordon, Alexis & Everley have been nothing but Awesome dealing with the farm & cows while I work away. We would love to keep these cows, but we are trying to have all our calves in January. These cows calve in March & April, hopefully by the sale date some of the cows will have calves. They are calm & great to work with. My young daughters can walk through the pen with them & the cows come up for hugs & scratches. The calves come out alert & wanting to suck. We have bread them to Mr. Jerry, who we bought from Cameo Farm last year, we are very excited to see the calves because he is such an amazing bull. He is laid back & super handsome bull. The family is very sad to see them go because they are our first group of Purebred Fleckvieh Simmentals we purchased from Spruceburn farms located close to Spruceview, Alberta.

The heifers are from Spruceburn Simmental & Anchor D Ranch Simmentals. They are the biggest set of sweethearts you will meet. They all love to come for a cuddle & scratch. We are sad to see them go, they are the best bunch of calves we have ever had. They were down at Olds College for the winter in their feeding program & have done awesome! We are very proud of these heifers.

We bought him from the Prairie Lands Sale, Skylark Cattle Co. He will be 3 this year. Calm, lets you pet him, he is the boss of the bulls in our pen. All the calves we have got from him are amazing. We have a heifer daughter that will be in the sale also, she has dark cherry red color & is the most beautiful calf we have ever had.
