Welcome to the Oakview/Perkin/ Triple R Bull Sale. This annual event is held in one of the most unique facilities in Canada! I strongly urge you to bring the family and make a weekend out of it! The three families involved in the “OPT” Bull sale are rock solid producers, fully committed to raising the highest quality Simmental cattle possible. I have toured all three farms in January and was very impressed! The bulls were fresh, free moving and soggy. This is one of our largest Manitoba Bull Sales!

Todd and Danna need very few introductions in the business now a days. They have been acquiring top of the breed herdsires for many years, I can’t count how many elite sires Todd has been runner up on as well! The Red pen is built with sires like Current Affair, Skors Missoula, and the new calving ease specialist Mader Lieutenant. There will be many herdbull prospects! The full blood group is anchored by sons of some of the greats in the breed Champs Romano, Shawacres Jahari 50L and South Seven Adonis. There are a couple good polled FBs and even a Metro son, truly something for everyone!

Perkin Land and Cattle is another great family operation! Darryl and Tanya are extremely passionate about the agriculture business, always very positive as well! A large part of the bull pen here is sired by Sunrise Captain Blaze it will allow you the opportunity to find many half and 3/4 brothers. As a sire group they are very strong, thick and hairy with excellent body length, quite a few are blazed as well. The second largest sire group is by ZSL Ripcord 2E. I had the pleasure of purchasing this bull for Darryl and he was a favourite of mine the entire sale season. I truly expect this bull to rise to the top in the business! This is his first set of sons to sell and they look outstanding. I don’t want to jinx semen testing etc, but the lot 41 Bull was one of my favourites in January and I’m excited to see how he’s developed.

Triple R Simmentals is another operation with lots of family involvement and a genuine love of cattle! Rick's pen of bulls is always one of the quietest groups I get the chance to walk through. Lots of variety in genetics in this group led by the MRL Missile sons, lots of muscle shape in these guys. There is always great value in this group of bulls.

Our sales are conducted in Canadian funds. The US exchange rate will be available at the settlement desk. Upon successful purchase of an animal, the consignors will assist with the necessary documentation, health exams, brokerage and US custom charges necessary to export your animal to the US. An additional fee of $300 USD per animal will be charged for this service, and is due at time of settlement. Trucking is not included in this amount.

• Bulls can be wintered free to charge until April 1. After April 1, there will be a charge of $3/day. Bulls returned to the farm can be picked up at the buyer’s convenience.

• Bulls that are wintered by the consignors must be insured by the purchaser.

This year’s offering is one that we feel is very consistent from start to finish, with a different bull stepping to the forefront and catching our eye all the time. The bulls are uniform in their make up with an emphasis on producing bulls with lots of middle, wide loin, and deep quarter, that move out well and will last for years to come.

All of the red bulls have been tested for homo polled while the full bloods were tested for Non-diluter. We recently added a black herd to our commercial group and love the cross with our non-diluter fleck bulls.

Full Fleck, Non Diluter. Leading off our fullblood section we have a bull that we are really excited about. Gambler is a heavily pigmented dark red bull that is soggy made with a big square quarter. Full Fleck, Non Diluter Groove is another powerful performance bull that follows suit nicely with the previous United bull. This soggy made, Full Fleck, double goggled bull has put it all together. The tremendous depth of body, overall natural thickness and big top on this guy really bring him to the top of the pack. Groove goes back to Zeus on the maternal side who we admired for his ability to add length to all of his progeny; clearly that trait has been passed down to this guy. Homo Polled, Full Fleck. It’s always nice when a bull you raise goes on to produce bulls that you admire. Gunner is out of a bull that went through our sale two years ago selling to Ty Dewitz in North Dakota.

Like his sire Exceed, he is loaded with eye appeal, is cherry red and smooth polled.

Grindstone again displays the desirable pigmentation and cherry red colouring that we have come to expect from Sadie’s calves. Furthermore he has her quiet disposition, and stacked maternal EPDs. Full Fleck, Non Diluter. Check out the huge hip on this Jahari son. This meat machine comes from the top of our Fleck herd and a tried and tested cow. Sadie has produced not only our highest selling bull, but also our highest selling female, and many close seconds. Her calves are known for being highly pigmented, with lots of depth of body and natural thickness. His overall thickness and square top need to be seen to be truly appreciated.

Scurred Full Fleck Non Diluter. A couple of years ago we were lucky enough to purchase a flush on the well known Miss Perfect cow out the Ferme Gagnon herd. The cross with Raptor did not disappoint. Glacier is a really cool looking bull with lots of spring of rib and huge top. His EPD’s indicate he will produce daughters that are heavy milkers. We just calved out a full sib to Glacier this winter and she is a model full fleck cow. She was highly sought after this summer when we were selecting for Pembina Triangle as she stood out, but we knew she was something special we wanted to keep.

She is pear shaped with a perfect udder and feet. Undoubtedly glacier will pass those same traits onto his daughters.

Gulliver pairs a calving ease phenotype including a small head, smooth shoulder with a low birth weight and EPD’s that rank him within the top 2% of the breed for calving ease. Gulliver is out of a cherry red polled first calver that goes back to Zeus and Sadie. Gulliver is cherry red, heavily pigmented right down to his front hooves, has great hair and is ready to stride into the heifer pen.

Full Fleck. Geronimo blends together the power and performance of Gibbons Jeremiah and Jahari with the moderate frame and hard muscling of Jacuzzi to bring you a unique package. Here is a powerful bull with lots of rib shape and a big square quarter out of a first calf heifer that goes back to the $16,500 bred heifer that we purchased from Gibbons in 2015.

Bengie has done it again; solid red, hairy and as stout as they come.

Grit is one of those bulls that caught our attention early last spring and has continued to be a favorite in the bull pen all year. He rises to the top of the bull pen with his exceptional top, wide loin, good feet, and overall spring of rib. The consistency of Boundary Astute is easy to see within the 4 bulls we have. They are all stamped the same with a big square hip, deep set quarter and tremendous hair and overall eye appeal. At the ripe age of 16 Bengie still looks in her prime. She has 60 registered offspring, still walks on a perfect set of feet, is milking hard and has truly been a herd changer for us with several daughters and granddaughters in our herd. Talk about longevity, fertility, and soundness – who wouldn’t want a shot of those genetics in their replacement herd.

Following in the trend of the past 2 bulls, we bring you another slight variation to the same pedigree. This ¾ sibling has a shot of the highly sought after Red Mountain mixed in with the Bengie genetics. Global is a dark red good haired bull that is once again exhibiting lots of hip and overall thickness. He is a well balanced bull that blends well from his smooth shoulder all the way to his deep set quarter. Missoula was a heavy haird, blood reb bull out of 2 black parents, making him a total outcross to our red program. Missoula was a tank as a yearling and had as much middle as any bull we’ve seen. These are traits that we are happy to have seen be passed onto his progeny.

Grant had that bull look from a very young age. Quite remarkably this big testicled huge topped bull is out of a first calf heifer and has always had tons of eye appeal with a splash of white on his forehead, and was a standout right from last spring. Grant is a very complete and correct bull with lots of middle and a big hind quarter. Homo Polled Where do I start with a calf like this? First let’s talk about his mother – she was in dam of a heifer I bought from X-T Simmentals at Simmsational.

Nice uddered, easy keeping, front pasture cow whose first calf was a top end replacement that we just calved out and she is impressive.

High Voltage has excellent calving ease and growth, much like the sire, Captain Blaze. Add his short gestation and you have a powder keg of calving ease with “boom” performance at yearling. I really think this calf is something special, for a calving ease bull look at his deep quarter and hip. His calving ease and growth EPDs are truly curve bending, on paper and in person, he is dressed for success.

A deep red bull, moderate framed and soft made, he has a great big foot under him. Patterned much like his full sib, Lot 48,in a red package, he’s big hipped and soggy in the middle. You can admire this bull from any direction. Ripcord certainly stamped his calves with his blood red color and natural thickness. Doll 1021Y has been a prolific flush cow for us, producing many daughters for our herd as well sons that have sold to Gilles Le Gault, OKS Simmentals, Al Cloet, Wayne Heinrichs and Andrew Brigden. Homo Polled and Non-Diluter. We purchased the dam of this bull at the

Schweitzer dispersal and she did not disappoint. A low birth weight bull we feel would work in the heifer pen, yet with curve bending growth numbers and extremely balanced EPDs overall. Cobra x Sochi, not guess work here, this guy should definitely calve easy, and you’ll notice his smooth shoulder and good neck extension. With two black parents, this guy couldn’t get any darker red.

Consistent is the way I would describe the mother of this bull. This is her third bull calf with an average birth weight of 79 lbs and all of them have gone through this sale – with the first two selling to Corrie Martens and Josh Grift. What an impressive bull to have started his life at 76 lbs. His overall mass and eye appeal are second to none, and he looks even better on the move. Two black parents and a blaze face to boot. Captain Blaze with his short gestation and calving ease combined with this High Roller dam’s low birth weight and it’s a no miss type of bull. A maternal sib sold to Mader Ranches this fall at the Pembina Triangle sale, lots of quality cattle in this cow family.

Homo Polled. This bull continues to impress me each time I’m in the pen. The Erixon Lad sons are moderate but have loads of mass through the middle giving them that soft made look. He comes from the Betty 51W family who also raised the Agnes cow that has several progeny in the sale this year. His dam is also a maternal sib to Lot 63. Lots of performance with this bull, he ranked 1st out of 41 contemporaries for weaning weight. Dark red, big testicles and tons of hair, give this rascal a second look.

Well I know I talk a lot about testicle development, but this guy takes the cake. When I was making notes to do the catalogue, I wrote “Nuts+++”, and I get even more excited when I’m referencing a bull of this caliber.

A tremendous El Tigre grandson with lots of rib shape and length of spine. His dam has sold a bull to JCN Farms and a female to Tyler Dalzell, and we’ve kept a daughter for our own herd. His sire is a bull we raised that goes back to a cow we reference often, 335W, who was a tanky flush cow that raised performance cattle.

TERMS & CONDITIONS TERMS The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should any purchaser fail to settle for his purchase Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released.

BID Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder.

SALES TAXES Applicable sales taxes will be charged on semen, embryos and trucking fees (if listed), respective to the home province of the buyer, not the seller.

DISPUTES In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final.

PURCHASER’S RISK Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.

INFORMATION SUPPLIED The information contained in this catalogue is believed to be true and accurate. However, the information has been supplied by the seller and neither Transcon Livestock Corp. or Keltey Whelan Designs assume any responsibility if the information supplied is not accurate.

ANNOUNCEMENTS from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY A registration/recordation certificate issued by the applicable breed association and duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer of each animal after settlement has been made. It is the responsibility of the buyer to determine the acceptance of this certificate in any other association.

BREEDER’S GUARANTEE As per applicable Canadian Breed Association Breeding Guarantee guidelines. Copies are available at the sale settlement desk to be picked up by the buyer at any time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for reimbursing more than the purchase price.

EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void.

HEALTH It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state.

Transcon Livestock Corp. assumes no responsibility for the health status of any animal in the sale.

ACCIDENTS Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, auctioneer, consignors or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.
