The decision was made last year to move the OPT bull sale home to the farm at Oakview Simmentals. Looking back that decision returned huge dividends hence why it was their best sale to date.

The bulls remain in a natural environment being outdoors in the great display pens. No stress of hauling them to town, the bulls remain calm and don’t go off of feed and water. They remain full and natural looking and don’t shrink up.

The 3 breeding establishments involved need no introduction to the beef industry. Families are a huge part of this sale’s success, they are all highly motivated and extremely hard working. Reputation breeders that produce the right kind of cattle that go out and work in the industry.

Many hours are spent studying genetics and deciding how to cross them. They are always striving to produce a better end product both for the commercial cattlemen as well as fellow purebred breeders searching for their next new herdsire.

This sale offers a very large and diverse cross section of yearling bulls Reds/Blacks and Fullbloods as well as a very strong set of extra age bulls.

The consistency of sire groups really shows throughout the offering. Whether its calving ease or true beef bulls your looking to buy. I beleive you will find what you need in this offering. Bulls that are sound in their structure and overall makeup. They are big ribbed and soft sided with length of spine and natural thickness to them. Bulls that have some width up over their tops as well as lower quarter, they are hairy and have super quiet dispositions.

• Bulls can be wintered free to charge until April 1. After April 1, there will be a charge of $3/day. Bulls returned to the farm can be picked up at the buyer’s convenience.

• Bulls that are wintered by the consignors must be insured by the purchaser.

American Purchases

Our sales are conducted in Canadian funds.

The US exchange rate will be available at the settlement desk. Upon successful purchase of an animal, the consignors will assist with the necessary documentation, health exams, brokerage and US custom charges necessary to export your animal to the US. An additional fee of $300 USD per animal will be charged for this service, and is due at time of settlement. Trucking is not included in this amount.

With nearly a 70% heifer calf crop in 2021, it looked like we would not have a bull pen for a while. Though smaller in numbers, this group is uniform, consistent and full of muscle shape. Like last year, the bulls will be available for viewing at the farm up until the days before the sale where they will be on display in Darlingford.

HOMO POLLED A powerful Brooks embryo calf out of our donor Poker Face show cow, Tri-R Ms Baby Spice 19B - one of our best cows who gets noticed by all who visit. Signature Brooks haircoat, huge hipped and long bodied; this calf has been a standout in the pen right from the start. The Brooks bulls were very well received at last year’s OPT Bull sale and the females were favourites in our pen at the 2021 PTSA sale. The Brooks sire group has been the most consistent we have ever used and we have been very impressed by the first crop of females that calved this year who have perfect udders and maintained their condition. Strong maternal genetics here!

His Blackout dam is the oldest cow on the farm but brings in a good one year after year with exceptional fertility at her age. Hype is going to get a lot of attention come sale day. Check out the masculinity and muscle mass in this fall born Lieutenant son. Lieutenant sired our high selling bull last spring going to Rendevous Farms. Lieutenant has worked very well for us in both the heifer pen as well as on mature cows. This powerhouse is the perfect combination of performance and style; he’s big hipped, clean made and has a smooth shoulder. Hype is out of one of our favorite fall calving cows. She is dark, thick, and has an excellent udder. Hype balances calving ease and performance into a dark red soggy package wrapped up in a mellow disposition. This big footed, big nutted bull is so dark he has black hairs showing through. Hype is one to check out come sale day.

Hawk is a stereotypical Lieutenant son. He has the length, depth of body and square hip that we have come to expect in our Lieutenants.

Hawk is clean through the head and shoulder, deep sided and wide topped. Hawk’s dam is a phenomenal solution female that has been a cornerstone of our fall breeding program. She had a whopper of a bull in our 2020 Sale that sold to MacDonald Stock Farm.

Homo Polled If we have said it once we’ve said it 20 times, “He looks just like Lieutenant”. Hurley is a moderate framed bull with lots of natural thickness, a straight top, deep barrel, square hip and a mellow look to him. Hurley strides out well on excellent feet and carries himself with a friendly disposition and eye-catching look. His Body Builder dam is a phenomenal cow that has left us with two productive daughters and also worked well in the Workman Herd. Homo Polled Oakview Justify has been a stand out since early spring with his huge loin and overall completeness. He was born at a modest 95 lbs and exploded into the pen leader for performance.

Its hard to fully appreciate the thickness and depth that this bull possessed until you see him in person. Phenotypically you can’t beat the deep red colour, big dark hooves, smoothness and overall capacity he displays.

Justify is out of a great female that we purchased from Bert’s NR Simmentals through the Pembina Triangle sale. She has consistently given us females that we admire for the natural thickness and udder structure.

Justify is the first bull she has had and we couldn’t be happier with how he has developed.

Non diluter Leading off the Yearling Fullblood section we have Oakview Jett; a Rolling Acres Red Fern son out of PRL Houston. Jett is an eye catching smooth made bull.

This cherry red deep sided bull is a breed leader for milk EPD. Jett is an easy moving bull with good feet and lots of testicle. He has a proud presence to him that demands your attention. We sadly lost Red Fern last winter. She was a powerhouse of a cow that was long spine, deep bodied with natural thickness.

Fern was a heavy milking cow who passed that trait on to her offspring. We currently have 5 daughters working in our herd who are all stamped with the same style and thickness. Homo Polled I thought it would only be appropriate to start our section off with a paternal brother to last year’s high seller, PERKS Potent 309H. These Lethal Dose sons follow the same pattern as him – heavy muscled, long bodied, dark red and thick hair. The Lethal Dose sons have above average testicle development and early maturity and Lethal Strike was a bull who we easily noticed on pasture all summer. As you know, here at PLCC we talk about cow families a lot. Well this bulls granddam is none other than KOP 110W, a cow we flushed extensively. His dam is a flushmate to the bull we sold to JayShaw Simmentals a few sales ago, and she has a flawless udder with small teats. Someone looking for power and performance will surely notice this guy.

Homo Polled and Diluter Free We thought it was a natural fit to feature this Kill Switch ET son right in with the two Lethal Dose sons. He’s also a long bodied bull with agility and balance that’s sure to make him a favorite on sale day. Being an embryo, he’s not ranked with his penmates, but he gained well over 4 lbs/day since weaning. His genetics came to us from our good friend Larry of Valleyfield Simmentals, who was willing to part with some embryos from one of his top flush cows. She is a deep red Horizon daughter out of the renowned 68M cow at Labatte Simmentals and we feel lucky to have this son to sell and a full sister to keep.

Homo Polled, Diluter Free Another liver red Lethal Dose son and a bull that has grown into one of my favorite bulls as I walk through the pen day to day. He too has the Lethal Dose muscle pattern and hair coat and moves very freely with a herd bull presence about him. He ranked first in his contemporary group for yearling weight and gained over 4.5lbs/day since weaning. The Hard Rock females continue to crank out top end bulls year after year. We have 4 full sibs to this cow, and she has a beautiful udder and an excellent production track record. Triple R Simmentals bought a $10,000 daughter through the Pembina Triangle sale and she was thick, hairy and liver red as well. Serious breeders of dark red performance cattle should pay attention to this one.

Homo Polled, coat color test pending We have been so impressed with the IPU Bentley 81F calves over the past 2 years that when the opportunity came up to purchase the bull himself at auction this past December, we knew we had to have him walk here at PLCC. Case in point is this solid muscled black bull. As time goes on, he is the standout black bull in the pen and is very hard to fault. The Bentley’s as a group look outstanding at weaning – Bentley ranks in the top 1% for weaning and top 4% for yearling weight in the breed. This bull ranked second in his contemporary group and has gained over 4.25 lbs/day since weaning. And it is no surprise to us, as his elite dam 610A has done it year after year.

She has had 5 sons and they have all been top of the pen bulls and 2 daughters, one who we sold and one that we kept. Good testicles, loads of hair and a big square hip that we strive for, he is a bull that doesn’t come along too often.

Homo Polled and Homo Black This bull is a real head turner when you tour the pen, he has that awesome 680S hair from his dam that compliments that striking blaze.

With a big hip and loin this bull offers breeders that big flat top and a soft middle gives him real substance.

He’s certainly no slouch in the growth department, as he’s gained almost 4.40 lbs/day since weaning.

His clean made front and extra bone just add to his presence. We sold his dam to Valleyfield Simmentals and he was kind enough to sell us some embryos back. She is a tanky 680S x Doll cow that he flushed to Bentley and I would say without a doubt that it was a success.

Terms & Conditions

BID No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted.

SALES TAXES Applicable sales taxes will be charged on semen, embryos, and trucking fees (if listed), respective to the home province of the buyer, not the seller.

DISPUTES In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved.

If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final.

PURCHASER’S RISK Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.

INSURANCE Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser at the time of sale and should be insured. Animals returning to the seller’s farm must be insured.

US BUYERS There is an additional charge (approximately $300.00 US dollars) that will be applied to each animal purchased. This covers documentation, vet inspections/testing required to export. This cost does not include transportation or brokerage which is the responsibility of the buyer.

CATTLE PICTURES AND INFORMATION PROVIDED The images in this catalogue are believed to be accurate representations of the individual animals and the information contained in this catalogue is provided by the seller and believed to be true and accurate. Transcon Livestock Corp. and catalogue designers/producers assume no responsibility if the images and/or information as received have been altered or is inaccurate.

ANNOUNCEMENTS All announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY A registration/recordation certificate issued by the applicable breed association and duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer of each animal after settlement has been made. It is the responsibility of the buyer to determine the acceptance of this certificate in any other association.

SHIPPING Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale but no risk is assumed by the Sales Management or Seller. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement.

BREEDERS GUARANTEE - As per applicable Canadian Breed Association Breeding Guarantee guidelines. Copies are available at the sale settlement desk to be picked up by the buyer at any time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for reimbursing more than the purchase price.

EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void.

HEALTH It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state. Transcon Livestock Corp. assumes no responsibility for the health status of any animal in the sale.

EMBRYO & SEMEN Full settlement must be made before release is done and shipping arrangements should be done within 30 days of the sale unless arrangements made between buyer and seller prior to the sale. Shipping arrangements and costs are the expense of the purchaser once release has been given.

ACCIDENTS Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, auctioneer, consignors, or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

TRANSCON LIVESTOCK CORP. IS AGENT ONLY It is to be clearly understood that Transcon Livestock Corp. is only acting as a medium between buyer and seller and is not in any way responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does Transcon Livestock Corp. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties. Any legal action that may be taken, in exceptional cases, must be between buyer and seller.

TERMS The terms of the sale are cash, cheque, e-transfer, or wire and are due at the time of sale, unless other arrangements have been made between buyer and seller prior to the sale. Transcon reserves the right to charge interest at a rate of 2% per month on overdue accounts. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should any purchaser fail to settle for their purchase Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publicly or privately, without further notice.

Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. Transcon Livestock Corp and/or the Auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance prior to the sale with the owner or Sale Managers.
