Welcome to the 4th annual Transcon’s Next Step Bull Sale. This annual event is held at Thorsby Stockyards, one of central Alberta’s finest markets. A great place to sell your calves and buy your bulls!

This sale started in 2019 with a $5574 average and in three years, we have worked our way up to $6200.

What we have established is that good bulls from good people sell. We have seen bulls sell across Canada and into the US while still getting great local support.

I viewed all the bulls in mid January and was very impressed, absolutely the strongest set of bulls yet. There will be a great selection of polled and horned Fleck fullblooods, with some exciting heifer bull candidates. You will even find a proven calving ease homo polled fleck 2 yr old bull! The Reds and Blacks also have power and calving ease to choose from. This is a very exciting set of bulls.

This year we invited Century Simmentals to join Nolara Farms, Gilchrist Genetics, Langer Fleckvieh Simmentals, Diamond B Simmentals, KZ Simmentals and RDG Simmentals. I believe we have a group of consignors committed to raising and selling bulls that are sound, functional bulls that will exceed your expectations.

A) $100 off per bull if picked up sale day.

B) Bulls will be delivered free of charge within 250kms of Thorsby as soon as possible after the sale, at the breeder’s convenience. Over 250kms will be arranged at cost.

C) Bulls will be kept at the seller’s farm at no charge until April 1, 2022. After April 1, delivery will be arranged suitable to both the seller and purchaser. All bulls returning to the seller’s farms must be insured.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who showed interest, bid on, and purchased bulls last year. We would also like to thank those who supported us on our newest venture, Gilchrist Genetic Gems Female Sale last fall on Farmgate Auctions; as sale we hope to make a yearly event!

The boys have been developed on silage and a bull pellet acquired from Bullseye Feeds. Our Bulls are selected for good feet, disposition, and phenotypically appealing traits. We have a mixture of calving ease and high-performance bulls on offer this year.

We are planning to host an open house to view the bulls on Sunday February 27th 2022; watch our Facebook page for more details. Homo Polled, Non-Dilutor Here’s your opportunity to own Defiance 2.0. Jolt is a spitting image of his sire SKV Defiance 47D; we campaigned Defiance successfully being Champion Simmental Bull at both Olds Fall Classic and Farmfair International. If you saw Defiance on the show road you know this guy is just as good!

Some may say a notch better! We lost Defiance way too soon but we were lucky enough to obtain some on-farm semen from him. Jolt is very impressive from every angle, big hip, and deep quartered. He displays good chest width, nice skull shape and good haired. 22J is the first bull calf 8C, a KS Bravado daughter, has given us and we are very excited about her future producing bulls. The Defiance progeny are impressive and very limited so look closely at the 3 on offer here.

Horned, Non-Dilutor Raptor sons…….We like ‘em! Jericho is our lead off fullblood bull. This guy gets our heart pumping! He is smooth yet stout and deep quartered. We chose to use Anchor D Raptor for his polled genetics and his performance.

Jericho unfortunately did not get the polled trait but he certainly got the performance being our heaviest bull this January.

Jericho’s momma 154Y, was purchased as a heifer out of KOP Farms second last Bull Sale. She has been an excellent addition to our herd and gave us another great calf this year. Jericho has been picked out by many that saw him this summer and by those who have toured since weaning.

♪ Juicy Fruit is gunna move ya! ♪ Unlike the lyric above might suggest this guy is level headed, but his type might just get you excited. It is not often that we offer a yellow bull but here is one that’s balanced from front to back. Juicy Fruit’s mother is a first calver who comes out of Kuntz Congo. She has an excellent udder and did a good job on her first calf. Guerrero is also a calving ease bull that is used often on heifers. However, due to this guys’ bone and stoutness we do not think he is suitable for heifers.

Scurred 100% Full Fleckvieh This is one we have kept our eye on from the day he was born. A little different genetically for a polled bloodline, well pigmented and started looking and acting like a bull at such a young age. Orca exhibits all the attributes we would be looking for when searching for a new herdsire. He is out of a great cow and a well proven sire. When analyzing him he is really hard to pick apart. Check him out sale day he is one whale of as bull.

I started in the cattle industry breeding and raising commercial Simmentals. My dad always used artificial insemination for breeding which taught me what to look for in picking a bull as well as what features to look for to improve or compliment every cow. Looking through the new sire directory every year was like Christmas morning for me, picking out bulls that offered exceptional growth, high milk EPDs and desired traits. Good milking cows raise big calves and lbs = $. I don’t believe in pushing cattle with extra feed, good cattle don’t need that. That means the cows have to get the job done. The calves are raised without creep, so weaning weights are reflective of the calf’s growth and the cow raising it. Here’s a rare opportunity to find a Full Fleckvieh homozygous polled son of Champs Bravo. Hoover is naturally thick muscled, built like a brick and as dark cherry red as they come. As a yearling, Hoover was used on both the registered and commercial heifers and cows. His calves come out easy and are low birthweight (most calves in 80-85lb range). The thickness and top of his calves stand out already at such a young age which is remarkable. You can check off many of the boxes based on his first calf crop. Look at the calving ease on Juan! If you go by EPD’s you’ll know CE doesn’t get much higher. But it’s not just numbers. Juan has everything you look for in a heifer bull, 77lb BW, small head and tapered shoulders. For a small birthweight calf, Juan sure grew and filled out with a thick top and lots of capacity throughout the middle. Sired by Sheriff, arguably the easiest calving sire the Simmental breed has produced. Juan was bred for easy calving. Sheriff + Prime Beef + High Stakes = HIGH CE. The Sheriff females are some of the best uddered cows in our herd. I’m not a math guy, but if my calculations are correct Juan will have calving ease paired with exceptional growth. Jones is a powerful, thick muscled bull who was the heaviest WW and YW of the 2021 calves. Right from a calf his friendly quiet demeanor was evident. Blue Chip could’ve been named blue collar cause that’s what he is. His calves may not be the fancy type you take to win a show, but they’re in work clothes and just get the job done. Docility is a trait I’ve noticed in all the Blue Chip calves. Jericho certainly exemplifies this. Jericho’s dam 33B is proven moderate framed, with a good tight udder and always in good condition, just a maintenance free cow. Putting bulls in a sale is nothing new for 33B as she was a productive cow for South Holden Simmentals before coming to Century.

Homozygous Polled I purchased some embryos from Skor Simmentals, this is the only calf I got and what a calf it is. He is heavy haired, thick muscled and has awesome feet. Here is a bull that comes from a first calver and the old KCN E208 bull. We continually use E208 on a few heifers each year as he provides a different pedigree and is a proven heifer bull. Not to mention has given us some of the best cows we have owned.

With an 80lb birthweight and not an abundance of size I would consider him a definite heifer bull prospect.

TERMS & CONDITIONS TERMS The terms of the sale are cash, cheque, e-transfer, or wire and are due at the time of sale, unless other arrangements have been made between buyer and seller prior to the sale. Transcon reserves the right to charge interest at a rate of 2% per month on overdue accounts. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should any purchaser fail to settle for their purchase Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. Transcon Livestock Corp and/or the Auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance prior to the sale with the owner or Sale Managers.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY A registration/recordation certificate issued by the applicable breed association and duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer of each animal after settlement has been made. It is the responsibility of the buyer to determine the acceptance of this certificate in any other association.

BID No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted.

EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void.

SALES TAXES Applicable sales taxes will be charged on semen, embryos, and trucking fees (if listed), respective to the home province of the buyer, not the seller.

HEALTH It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state. Transcon Livestock Corp. assumes no responsibility for the health status of any animal in the sale.

DISPUTES In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final.

PURCHASER’S RISK Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.

INSURANCE Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser at the time of sale and should be insured. Animals returning to the seller’s farm must be insured.

US BUYERS There is an additional charge (approximately $300.00 US dollars) that will be applied to each animal purchased. This covers documentation, vet inspections/testing required to export. This cost does not include transportation or brokerage which is the responsibility of the buyer.

CATTLE PICTURES AND INFORMATION PROVIDED The images in this catalogue are believed to be accurate representations of the individual animals and the information contained in this catalogue is provided by the seller and believed to be true and accurate.

Transcon Livestock Corp. and catalogue designers/producers assume no responsibility if the images and/or information as received have been altered or is inaccurate.

ANNOUNCEMENTS All announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements.

SHIPPING Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale but no risk is assumed by the Sales Management or Seller. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement.

BREEDERS GUARANTEE - As per applicable Canadian Breed Association Breeding Guarantee guidelines. Copies are available at the sale settlement desk to be picked up by the buyer at any time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for reimbursing more than the purchase price.

EMBRYO & SEMEN Full settlement must be made before release is done and shipping arrangements should be done within 30 days of the sale unless arrangements made between buyer and seller prior to the sale. Shipping arrangements and costs are the expense of the purchaser once release has been given.

ACCIDENTS Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, auctioneer, consignors, or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

TRANSCON LIVESTOCK CORP. IS AGENT ONLY It is to be clearly understood that Transcon Livestock Corp. is only acting as a medium between buyer and seller and is not in any way responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does Transcon Livestock Corp. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties. Any legal action that may be taken, in exceptional cases, must be between buyer and seller.
