Prepare for Your Language Test
Toapplyfor thePGWP,youmust demonstrateyour languageskillswitha minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 inEnglish,or Niveauxde compétencelinguistiquecanadiens(NCLC)7inFrench,acrossall four language areas Toavoiddelaysinsubmittingyour PGWPapplication,bookyour languagetest inadvance.

Renew Your Passport (if needed)
Studentscanonlyreceivetheir PGWPup totheexpirationdateof their passport If your passport isexpiringsoon,it?sbest toapplyfor arenewal in advancetoensureyoucanreceivethefull lengthof your PGWP.
Receive Your PGWP Letter in your KPU Email Account
If you?veappliedfor graduationand successfullycompleted your program,your PGWPLetter (CompletionLetter)and Immigration Purpose Document will be automaticallyemailedtoyour KPUemail account within3?5businessdaysafter your graduationdate Youdonot needtorequest thesedocumentsseparately

UnderstandingYour Work Eligibility
Asyouenter your final semester,it?simportant tounderstandthe datesyouarepermitted toworkandwhenyouneedtostop Any unauthorized workcanmakeyouineligiblefor thePGWPprogram.
Last Semester Before Graduation
You maywork part-time off-campuswhilewaitingfor your completion letter, provided that ALL of thefollowingaretrue:
- Youhaveaphysical copyof avalid studypermit (e.g.,youarenot on maintained status)
- Youdid not takeany unauthorized breaks inyour studies(ex if youwerepart-time for twosemestersconsecutivelyor if youwerepart-timeinyour first semester)
- Youdid not engageinanyunauthorized work(e.g.,youcompliedwiththeconditions of your studypermit)
- If youareonmaintained status,youmust stop workingon thefinal examperiod end dateaspostedon KPU Dates & Deadlines page.
- If your studypermit expiresbeforeyoureceiveyour completionletter,youmust stop workingonthedatethestudypermit expires
- If your studypermit isvalid,youmust stop workingassoonasyoureceivewritten confirmationof graduation.
After Submitting the PGWP Application
Youmaywork full-time whileawaitingadecisiononyour work permit application,provided that ALL of thefollowingaretrue:
- Youapplied for your PGWPwitha valid study permit.(Remember,your study permit becomesinvalid 90daysafter youreceivewrittenconfirmation of program ompletion,eventhoughtheexpirydateon your studypermit mayextendbeyond the 90-dayperiod)
- Youdid not takeany unauthorized breaks inyour studies(example,if youwereparttimefor twosemestersconsecutivelyor if youwerepart-timeinyour first semester)
- Youdid not engageinanyunauthorized work(e.g.,youcompliedwiththeconditions of your studypermit)
