LAKE AUSTIN Almost all the shoreline around Lake Austin is privately owned, which limits bank fishing.

Emma Long Metropolitan Park is located on the shores of Lake Austin and consists of a total of 1,150 acres, 70 of which are developed. Lake Austin is maintained as a constant-level lake by releases of water from Lake Travis upstream. The lake has been stocked with several species of fish intended to improve the utility of the reservoir for recreational fishing. The lake is considered to have an excellent stock of largemouth bass, and other fish present include catfish and sunfish. Lake Austin, with its widest point measuring only 1,300 feet, is more like a river lined with expensive mansions in the hills along its 24 miles of shoreline.

HUDSON BEND Hudson Bend is a suburb of Austin with a population of 2,059. Living in Hudson Bend offers residents a sparse suburban feel and most residents own their homes. About 20 miles northwest of Austin, Hudson Bend is a community surrounded on three sides by Lake Travis.
