What is your fondest memory of being here at the Wolf Pack?

Wolf: I have a window in my office just next to my computer; I sometimes catch myself watching jets taking off and landing—it’s happened even as I write this. A few weeks after the FW change of command, we launched jets off the alternate departure and landing strip (ADLS), just after sunrise. It struck me how the Wolf Pack had just weathered the runway project, the PACAF Readiness Eval, and the flail of a new FW/ CC …when I saw a jet already airborne from Taxiway Charlie headed west. It made me think of all the Airmen generating and flying sorties and supporting those who do, who, despite all that, were still getting after new and challenging problems, like operating from the ADLS. My fondest memory is serving with all of you.

Wolf 2: My fondest memory is when we opened up the runway, and then we crushed the PACAF readiness validation exercise. The Wolf Pack really came together in a lot of different ways to ensure that this runway project was a success, and it is because of our combined efforts that it was the #1 PACAF construction project on time and on budget.

Wolf Chief: Honestly, I don’t think I can frame my time in the Wolf Pack around one fondest memory. Truthfully, the people are what make this place special! Just being able to walk down the street, go to the BX, or the Gym and know that I am going to be able to strike up personal conversations with so many people make this place unlike any other. I will cherish my time at the Wolf Pack for the rest of my life.

In what ways have you grown/learned from this experience?

Wolf: All Air Force jobs are developmental. If I knew how to be a wing commander, the Air Force wouldn’t have made me a wing commander. But the biggest thing I learned was how strong the bonds are that we form here at Kunsan. It was amazing to see people come together in the best of times and also in the worst of times, and while we’re all far away from home, we all have support around us here, too.

Wolf 2: This is my third time here at Kunsan, and I would say I was reminded of the importance of our allies and mission partners to maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific. Every time I return to Kunsan, our Korean partners and friends have proven to be the best of the best, and I think it’s important to acknowledge that their teamwork and their talents are invaluable to the Wolf Pack’s ability to Fight Tonight!

Wolf Chief: I’ve learned how resilient I can be, but also how resilient our Teammates in the Wolf Pack are! Many of our Airmen spend a year away from family, friends & the creature comforts that are not always readily available at a remote location. And despite three aircraft mishaps, an unexpected Change of Command, multiple readiness exercises & an aging infrastructure our Airmen are ready to Defend the Base, Accept Follow-on Forces, and Take the Fight North at any given time.

Children’s Day (Fri, May 5th)

Children’s Day is a national holiday in South Korea that celebrates children. It’s an opportunity for parents to take a break from their busy lives and to spend quality time with their children. Children’s Day in South Korea is celebrated on May 5th. This date, 5/5, has a certain symmetry to it and is therefore easy for people to remember.

The day of Buddha’s birth is a public holiday and is largely celebrated by many people in South Korea. Many festivals are held accross the country including the popular Lotus Lantern Festival in Seoul.

What is your favorite part about working at the Lodging?

I'd like to highlight the family-like atmosphere we have here first and foremost. Our staff members support and encourage each other, and laughter never seems to cease. It's hard to believe it's already been almost 14 years since I started working here. I take pride in my job and approach each day with gratitude.
