CHAPTER INTRODUCTIONS
Karin Hindfelt BAGATELLER, ELLER? / BAGATELLES, REALLY?
Kulturen’s 1959 yearbook features the rather odd yet bold title Bagatelles. It’s fair to say that there are a number of artefacts in Kulturen’s collections that could be considered curios or ”bagatelles”, not least when we often lack the artefact’s context or provenance or know even less about why these particular artefacts came to be subsumed into the museum’s collections. One example of such a ”bagatelle” are the two small fragments of linen donated to Kulturen by brewery director Carl-Erik Borgenstierna.
Charlotte Hagström MED CYKEL SOM SÖKORD | CYCLE AS A SEARCH TERM
50 years had passed since the introduction of the so-called safety bicycle when Kulturen’s first yearbook was published in 1935. The bicycle was a common sight in everyday city life during the 1930s. Was it perhaps for this reason that it rarely featured in the yearbooks issued during the 1930s and 1940s? During these two decades it was most common to hear about them through adverts. Nonetheless the bicycle played a big part in society’s transformation and its subsequent documentation.
