Nature experiences & walks It often takes a bit of space for new ideas to develop. And where better than in our mountains? The wide-ranging views, fresh air and physical activity stimulate the cells and activate the mind - to ensure you have the energy and space you need to tackle some exciting topics.

1 Walk to the Kala Alm in Thiersee, followed by a meal The Kala Alm in Thiersee pampers visitors with mountain well-being and relaxation. At the snack station and Tyrolean-style restaurant, the Kala Alm team serve traditional Tyrolean dishes or treat your taste buds to a hearty snack. All washed down with a cooling beer, good glass of wine and farmhouse schnapps – cheers!

Route: From the car park at the Gasthof Schneeberg, continue on through the small settlement uphill and past the small tow lift. At the former end point for the summer toboggan run (mountain carts), the forest road (a toboggan run in winter) leads through the forest and follows a pleasant incline with several twists and turns to the Kala Alm which is situated in a magnificent panoramic location in a clearing.

Return journey: Same as the ascent – a good combination: uphill on the steeper section and downhill along the forest road.

2 Pendlinghaus Thiersee, followed by a meal Fantastic views of the famous Tyrolean town of Kufstein and endless wide-ranging views of the Kaisergebirge mountains across to the Hohe Tauern and Zillertal Alps are your reward for the approx. 90 minute ascent up to the Kufsteiner Haus. The landlady’s down-to-earth cuisine is renowned far beyond the region with home-made apple strudel, crispy roast pork, home-made schnapps from the Mairhofschen Brennerei distillery and the landlady’s traditional personal service. And if you arrive too late to make the return journey (after all, you can’t put a time limit on conviviality), there are some comfortable beds on offer in the traditional rooms. In the morning, you can savour the unique sunrise on the Pendling and devour a rustic mountain breakfast to recharge your batteries for the descent or mountain tour to the Achensee lake.

Route: The walk starts out from the centre of Thiersee. From here, it heads west to the church. A footpath leads behind the church to Mitterland. Follow this road towards the Gasthof Schneeberg. From here, follow the forest trail along to the Kala Alm. At the Kala Alm, the route continues on right to our local mountain, the Pendling. Here you will find the Kufsteiner Haus. Enjoy some ‘hearty’ roast pork accompanied by magnificent and unique panoramic views of the Inntal valley.

3 Trip on the Kaiserlift and herb walk The Kaiserlift Kufstein was renovated in 2014/2015 and began operation again in May 2015. The result – a comfortable form of transport to the heart of the ‘Kaisergebirge nature area’. Following a leisurely 20 minute lift journey, you come to the Brentenjoch mountain station at 1,200m altitude. Here you are surrounded by an unspoilt natural environment, magnificent walks, centres of awareness, peaks with beautiful views and the traditional mountain lodge culture. What could be better?

On request, a nature experience guide can accompany you and show you the special features of the Kaisergebirge nature protection area.

The Brentenjoch mountain station is the starting point for the walk with herbal witch Maria Bachmann. The walk ends at the traditional ‘Weinbergerhaus’ lodge.

4 “Forest bathing” in the modal forest Together with our hiking guide Harald you hike on the edge of the enchanting mountain village Hinterthiersee over the Breitenau and through the Modal Forest. 9 Conquer the Wilder Kaiser With the Kaiserlift, your congress participants, customers or employees travel to the Brentenjoch mountain station at 1,256 m above sea level in the single chairlift. Already on the way up you will feel how the relaxation after intense Congress days or busy days for your participants. Your participants reach the alpine meadows of the Wilder Kaiser in a relaxed manner. From there it goes to two different ones Aim. Depending on the fitness of your participants, the mountain guide will take your group to a nearby hut great view over the Inn Valley or with an iPad rally over meadows and through forests to a hut at the foot of the Wild Emperor. After a proper refreshment with Tyrolean and Austrian specialties and - on request - Some stations such as archery, nailing and horseshoe throwing go back from the mountain station downhill with the lift. 1) Kufstein’s historic ascent in the grip of the Habsburg eagle The feudal knight and Renaissance Prince Maximilian I, an innovative and visionary ruler during the transition from the Middle Ages to the modern era, certainly left his mark on Kufstein. As the most influential and significant monarch in Europe, he extended Kufstein Fortress to include some impressive and masterful architectural features!

The Habsburg legacy left its mark on Kufstein over the centuries, right up until the year 1918. We track it back in time!

2) Tracking own the Kufstein song “Do you know the pearl, the pearl of Tyrol…” Who doesn’t know the refrain of this Kufstein song? Summer freshness in the mountains and Tyrolean comforts, accompanied by music – that was the holiday trend of the post-war era!

The Kufstein song about the ‘town of Kufstein on the green river Inn’ by Karl Ganzer has made the fortress town world famous! Join us as we track down the origins of this widely sung folk song!

3) Oberer Stadtplatz square – a witness over the centuries The transformation of Kufstein’s urban landscape – an exciting journey through time! The houses in the Oberer Stadtplatz square have witnessed a lively history. 4) The odyssey of Dean Dr. Matthäus Hörfarter Learn about a very special success story: first, the poorly son of a farmer from Kössen was taken under the educational care of the church. He was full of determination and eventually gained a doctorate and became a university professor in Salzburg. 6 Herb walks to explore the local spices and medicinal and poisonous plants Is this plant growing here poisonous? What does it taste of? What are its benefits? Identifying a plant without its flowers or leaves is an art! And you can practise that with our expert guides. They will introduce you to some more and less well-known plants used in cooking or as a tried-and-trusted cure for health problems. In addition to knowing about the plant, it is important to understand how to use it properly and what quantity to use.

7 When the power of nature’s elements inspires, something great always emerges!

’Hollywood on the Thiersee’ – themed walk

GABY (walking guide) will transport you back in time to this former ‘Hollywood of the Alps’. Along the themed film trail around the idyllic Thiersee lake at the foot of the local PENDLING mountain, you can learn fascinating information such as how Thiersee became Europe’s film metropolis during the post-war era.

Self-confidence, the courage to try new things and team spirit among the population transformed humble Thiersee into the film homeland of many famous films and actors such as Curd Jürgens and Paul Hörbiger. This tour provides a humorous journey back in time with film tricks and amusing anecdotes from this era.

8 Segway tour An 18 km tour through and around Kufstein awaits, crossing fantastic cycle paths, quiet roads and field tracks. You can also enjoy nature and the leisurely pace of life in Kufsteinerland.

You will start out from Kufstein and will be given detailed instruction in how to operate the Segway safely. A short training session will help you to familiarise yourself with the Segway. Then you will head off towards Ebbs where you will do a circuit around the town and return via the Inn dam back to Kufstein. You will have time to admire the surroundings in greater detail during the tour. In the town square, at the foot of the fortress, you can treat yourself to a cappuccino.

1 Fohlenhof Ebbs The Fohlenhof Ebbs is the world’s oldest and most significant Haflinger stud farm. It was originally created from agricultural land at Wagrain Castle in Ebbs. Today some 100 Haflinger horses live at the modern and spacious stud farm at the foot of the Zahmer Kaiser. You can see the young stallions in the two riding arenas, stables with horse boxes and animal pens. Summer show programmes are held in the Fohlenhof arena with seating for 3,500 people.

The attached museum provides information about the Haflingers, their use, the success of the studs and the large events which have taken place in the past.

Over the summer months when the young horses are out in the meadows, you can watch the herds of mares with their foals as well as the stallions.

2 Raritätenzoo Ebbs The Raritätenzoo Ebbs is home to animals from all over the world which live at the heart of Tyrol’s natural landscape in Kufsteinerland, at the edge of the forest near Ebbs. The privately managed zoo provides a habitat for 70 exotic animal species including some very rare and endangered species. The Raritätenzoo Ebbs is home to more exotic animals than any other zoo in Tyrol. Over 500 animals have found their home here with red kangaroos living alongside pot-bellied pigs. But take note: some of the animals have free roam of the 25,000 m2 site. They are not dangerous but might take you by surprise! The kiosk offers small treats for visitors – and some for the animals too!

1 Regional organic cheese – Hatzenstädt Cheese Dairy Cheese production has a long-standing tradition in Kufsteinerland. Cheese has been produced since the Middle Ages at many of the mountain farms in Tyrol. The first documented mention of cheese production on the Niederndorferberg dates back to the year 1224. The Hatzenstädt organic cheese dairy has been so called since the year 1480. It committed itself to producing high quality products using only regional raw materials at an early stage.

The milk from the meadows is transported directly to the cheese dairy by lift.

2 Sledging evening A fun sledging session as a fun evening experience or afternoon activity! After a beautiful walk and refreshment break at one of the traditional mountain lodges, this activity is the perfect addition to your event in Kufsteinerland.

You will walk for approx. 1 to 1.5 hours to a mountain lodge. Here you and your guests can enjoy a hot chocolate or mulled wine and recharge your batteries with some typical Tyrolean cuisine, if you wish. Either during the day or in the evening when the toboggan run is lit up and the lights sparkle down in the valley. You can then hire a wellprepared sledge from the lodge and race back down into the valley. The Kufstein locals love it and your congress participants will too!

3 Sledging at the Aschenbrenner in Kufstein A sledging session on our town’s natural toboggan run is not to be missed! Whether by day or by night, whether leisurely or action-packed – this toboggan run has something to suit every taste and requirement.

5 Build a snow sculpture Represent your company’s values with shovels, saws, trowels, scrapers and stuccoer’s irons. The team work together to create snow sculptures which represent your company’s values or achievements.

This team-building activity requires collaboration and creativity of your team, along with spontaneity and speed. The first big challenge for each team is to agree on how the sculpture should look. It takes creativity and skill to master this challenge because the specifications are challenging. A snow block measuring 1 x 1 x 1.5m and tools are provided.

6 Trapper’s day Are you under the impression that taking a sled ride with huskies is only possible in the far north? Then think again! Here in Kufsteinerland you can enjoy a day of adventure with the huskies and say a special thank you to your employees or customers.

During an adventure-packed day in the beautiful winter landscapes of Kufsteinerland, you can experience how it feels to be a trapper. A huskie sleigh workshop, short snow shoe walk and survival workshop create a special atmosphere. The participants are divided into groups and complete the tasks in order.

Refreshments are provided at the Trapper Camp. Small snacks along with hot and cold drinks can be enjoyed around the campfire. The Trapper’s Day is not just a day of adventure in the snow; it is also a lasting memory for your employees or customers.

7 Horse-drawn sledge rides The Ebbs Stud Farm is the oldest Haflinger stud farm in the world and is a centre for international Haflinger breeding.
