President’s Message
The spring semester is here; unfortunately, coronavirus is also still here. Projections seem to show that the next couple of months could be the deadliest yet.
FINISH READING ON PG. 2 The effect on the KU campus continues to be felt. Once again, this semester, only 5% of classes are fully live. The rest are a mix of hybrid and online courses. Students have started to move back onto campus. For the first time, all students living on campus will be required to take a free coronavirus test set up by the university using a third-party vendor. The tests are also available for free to faculty , staff, and students who do not live on campus. Please note that if you do get your test on campus, the university will be notified of your results. That is not the case if you get tested elsewhere, like CVS or Rite Aid. While I want to start the semester by welcoming all faculty back, I also have to share a goodbye. Sarra Guisse, who has been the APSCUF-KU office manager for the past four years, is moving on to a new position at a biotechnology firm in Allentown. Sarra has played a key role in serving our members throughout her time at KU, and she has been an enormous help to me in my role. I am confindent Sarra will be successful in her new position; she will be missed here. Best wishes to all of you for a safe and productive semester.
