Tennis … Where Fun and Fitness Meet! While other sports can provide excellent health benefits and some can promote mental and emotional growth, none can compete with tennis in delivering overall physical, mental, and emotional gains to those who play. We’ve all heard tennis is the “sport of a lifetime”. Its benefits make tennis an ideal sport for kids to learn early in life. And, it’s never too late for adults of all ages to take up the game. Tennis is a great social outlet, not to mention an all-over workout burning an average of 498 calories an hour. Tennis is where fun and fitness meet. Whether you play with your best friend once a week, in a weekend league, or with your family, tennis provides a time-efficient, enjoyable way to get in shape and keep up with the people in your life and community. This season 82 participants took part in the department’s tennis lesson program at Liberty Bell Tennis Center. They received instruction on the fundamentals of the game and improvement of their skills.
