Bridging the Gap ... The plans are drawn, and the work has begun on the 10-foot wide handicap accessible footbridge at Jacob’s Nature Park at Sinking Creek. In addition, necessary supports are being put in place to complete the bridge. On Monday, August 15, a crew from the Tennessee Department of Correction’s Carter County Work Camp arrived to begin construction of the bridge decking and railing across Sinking Creek. The crew will be working along side parks and recreation crew members weekdays until the work is completed. The bridge, when complete, will provide easier access for park visitors to go from the wetlands half of the park to its wooded slopes and the trails that meander through them … bridging the gap!
