A Message from our CEO
Dear Friend, Over the course of our 50th anniversary year, we have had the pleasure of connecting with former Gosnold patients who are now in long-term recovery. While their personal stories differ in many ways, there is one common thread that weaves them together, and that is the message of hope. Hope when they thought it was too late to get help. Hope when they lost everything and thought they could never get it back. Hope when they found themselves in a place so dark that they couldn’t imagine seeing light ever again. Thanks to the support of donors like you, Gosnold has been able to provide hope to individuals and families suffering from behavioral health and substance use disorders for the past 50 years. Thanks to your generosity, we are equipped today with the resources to treat every patient that comes to the door, regardless of their ability to pay. Yet, Gosnold is not immune to the significant hurdles that exist in the field of behavioral health across the nation. While the need for our services continues to soar, recruitment and retention of qualified staff is challenging, largely due to a substantial shortage of behavioral health professionals. Additionally, current reimbursement rates are inadequate, and simply do not cover the cost of the lifesaving services that we provide. In order to overcome these challenges and continue our work with individuals and families who are suffering, we request your help today. Will you please consider a year-end contribution to Gosnold? Your Donation Matters When you donate to the Campaign for Gosnold, you save a life today. Your donation allows us to: Provide compassionate, evidence-based treatment to vulnerable populations. Gosnold provides 10,000 episodes of care annually across our 18 behavioral health programs. Collaborate with our hospitals. Gosnold’s Emergency Room Navigation Program sees over 1,000 patients annually and has placed over 78% of these patients in substance use disorder treatment programs. Support our children. Gosnold provides in-person services to over 2,500 students and 19,000 telehealth services to students across 88 elementary schools, middle schools, high schools & early education programs from Braintree to Provincetown. Keep our communities safe. Following a non-fatal overdose, our Police Department Intervention Program offers treatment, support and education to individuals & families following an overdose. We have served over 2,000 people through this program. Maintain successful treatment outcomes. On average, 97% of patients who receive inpatient substance use treatment at Gosnold do not readmit at Gosnold within 90 days post-discharge.
