Message from the Headteacher Last Saturday, as we weren’t able to hold our normal Year 6 Open Morning on-site due to COVID restrictions so we held it virtually. Our website had almost 3000 hits over the weekend and with 75% of these being first-time visitors to the site, it demonstrates the amount of positive interest being generated within the local community about our school. If you haven’t had a chance to look, I would encourage you to visit the school website and there is a link at the bottom of this section. I am so proud of the significant improvements at the school and its continued journey to fulfil our vision to be the ‘school of choice’ in our community. Our transition groups, Years 7 and 12 are both full, as are the majority of our other year groups with waiting lists. This week Year 11 have been sitting their initial exams in English, Maths and Science as we continue our preparations with them for their GCSE exams next summer. These exams are to support their continued learning, identify gaps in knowledge and lay the foundations of assessment for their GCSEs. Next week, they will sit the rest of their subject exams and we wish them all the best as they prepare over the weekend. Some parents/ students have expressed concern given Scotland’s recent announcement regarding the changes to their GCSE equivalent exams next year. However, as it currently stands in England, the GCSEs are continuing as planned and we will continue to fully prepare our students for these exams. Obviously, we will update you should there be any changes. This week, I am proud to announce the newly appointed members of Student Leadership. Later in this bulletin, you will read about the Subject ambassadors, Sixth Form Captains and house Captains to add to the Student Executive. This week, Mr Hussain has been interviewing Year 12s for the position of Deputy House Captain and these will be announced next week.
