Message from the Headteacher I would like to welcome everyone back after what I hope was a restful mid-summer break and I hope that you have been enjoying the wonderful weather. This morning, I wrote to all parents of students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 to explain the adaptations to the timetable from next Monday now that Years 11 and 13 are no longer on-site in the normal way. These letters can also be viewed on the website Year 7 & 8 Letter, Year 9 Letter and Year 10 Letter. This week Year 12 have been sitting their end of Year Progression Exams and they continue into next week. We will write to all Year 12 parents regarding changes to the daily routine for them early next week.

Today was our Sixth Form Transition Day and it was wonderful to welcome 180 of our own Year 11s as well as students from other schools onto the site to prepare for their transition into our sixth form. Later in this bulletin, there are some photos to highlight what the day included, they experienced A level taster lessons and various enrichment activities. It was also great to have Miss Wheaton back - our Director of Sixth Form who will be returning from maternity leave. Our current Head Boy/Girl, Raaj Singh and Florence New shared their 6th Form experiences with the potential Year 12s.

As we have been experiencing much warmer weather, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that students should be attending school in full school uniform or if they have PE on a particular day. Students will be given the opportunity to remove their blazer, but they shouldn’t be wearing an alternative jacket or jumper in its place. On PE days, they should come into school wearing their Roding Valley PE kit - no other sports kit is allowed. Furthermore, students should be wearing black leather shoes and not trainers each day except for their PE day. Please do contact their Year Progress Leader if there is a reason they haven’t got their ‘proper’ school shoes on.

Please can I ask that you continue to support the COVID testing and ensure that your child takes a lateral flow test every Sunday and Wednesday. Please immediately report any positive cases to the school covid@rodingvalley.net and follow up with a PCR test. As ever, please do enjoy browsing through the rest of this Bulletin, to see some of the fantastic activities that our students have been involved in.
