RVHS Parent Bulletin Aspiration Respect Endeavour Week ending: Friday 18th January 2019 “Our vision is to be the school of choice for our local community, developing successful young people with high aspirations, who show respect for all and endeavour to become the very best that they can be.”

Message from the Head of School It has been a really busy but exciting week here in school. Thank you to all the Year 11 parents who attended last night’s Parent Evening. There were record numbers in attendance and the evening was incredibly positive. Our current Year 11s are projected to achieve outstanding GCSE results and I am very grateful for the excellent parental support that is provided. Together, we can support these students to achieve their full potential. There is a full programme of support and interventions across all subjects and all students receive additional Maths and English during their period 1. I am pleased to report that to date, we have received over 200 applications for our Sixth Form for September 2019, this is testament to the improving A Level results and recognition of the support and teaching that our students receive during their journey with us. We have a significant number of external applications, which also provides evidence of our increasing positive reputation in the community. The published deadline for applications is today but if your child did want to apply; then please ensure that their application is lodged by 9am on Monday at the latest. Application forms can be found on the school website and include details of the entry requirements. We have record numbers applying to study Maths, Further Maths and the Sciences and students travel from our other consortium schools to study Maths here following our excellent results at A Level. For further information on our Sixth Form please contact the Director of Sixth Form, Miss Wheaton at awheaton@rodingvalley.net Our Year 13 students have now finalised all their UCAS applications to University, if this is their chosen path. Many of our students are securing offers from Russell Group Universities and Universities which are ranked the highest in their chosen subjects. I am absolutely delighted to announce that our Year 13 student, Igor Dasuzhan has been offered a place to study at Cambridge University, reading Natural Sciences Biological. This is an amazing achievement and we are immensely proud of him. Igor is currently studying Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics here at Roding Valley High School and is on course to attain at the very highest level in each A Level.
